This den of republicans is comprised of the leading members of the Whigs. Fox and Sheridan escape through the loft, The Dukes of Bedford and Norfolk flee up the chimney, three more hide under the table; only Lord Moira stands his ground. The room is littered with `bonnet-rouges`, broadsides of the guillotine and portraits of Napolean and Robespierre. A chest of Jacobite daggers spills onto the floor. (1)

An Arts and Crafts oak longcase clock, influenced by Liberty & Co., early 20th century, with some later parts, the sides carved with fleur-de-lis shields, the hammered copper dial and face with stylised numerals above a panelled door carved with a mulberry tree and circle motifs enclosing the pendulum and weights with conforming hammered copper embossed with a linear design, over a curved apron 193 x 57 x 37 cm.
A French gilt metal mounted walnut and fruitwood vitrine, late 19th century, the three quarter galleried pierced top above a waved glazed cabinet door with porcelain inset spandrels, upon a shaped apron centred by an inset porcelain plaque above cabochon clasped cabriole legs terminating sabots, 103 x 53 x 35 cm.
An Edwardian Arts and Crafts mahogany, boxwood and stained sycamore inlaid display cabinet, the waved three quarter galleried top over a cavetto cornice, above a projecting glass bay with central cabinet door, the lower comprising two stylised floral stained glass cabinet doors enclosing one shelf, on square cut legs, 207 x 134 x 42 cm.
19th Century Longcase Clock, the arched painted dial inscribed - "Rd. Stevens - Leicester", with secondary seconds dial and date aperture, floral spandrels, the arch decorated with a scene of a figure on a beach, eight-day movement, contained within an oak and cross-banded case, with break arch pediment, turned column pilasters, arched door and bracket feet, 191cms, (6`3").

A late 18th Century/early 19th Century mahogany longcase clock by James Warren of Canterbury, the 12ins arched brass dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds dial, the spandrels carved with shells and stooks of corn, the arch painted with a romantic landscape to the eight day two train movement striking on a bell, contained in may case probably by Goulden of Canterbury with shaped cresting and turned and fluted pillars to hood, shaped trunk door, 73.5ins high (plinth reduced in height, lacking original finials and with later weights) Note: James Warren recorded working by St. Georges Gate, Canterbury 1767-1793, the business continued by his son James Warren junior (apprenticed 1785 - 1832)
