A Regency Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase, early 19th century, the moulded cornice with fluted capitals and lozenge decorated frieze above two cupboard doors with reeded pilaster supports enclosing adjustable shelves, the base of four drawers inlaid with stringing and a deep drawer enclosing a fitted interior of pigeon holes, small drawers and a cupboard door, all between pilaster supports, 145cm by 56cm by 235cm Good quality timber. Cornice with small shrinkage splits to the corners and minor repair work. Right hand side panel upper section with fine split, approx 20cm long. Base section with natural shrinkage split, approx 15cm long. Opposing side upper section okay. Base section with bad splits which have been partly filled and polished. Cockbeading with various damage. Secretaire drawer interior with scratches to end panels. Baize writing surface dry and faded. Drawers run smoothly. The two middle drawers have later dividers, which can be removed fairly easily. Upper section cupboard doors good. The interior with gap in backboards. 050220

With keys for cupboard and drawers. Possibly later handles as previous handles visible on top left dummy drawer and two central drawers. Hinged lid interior rather dry and faded. An Early Victorian Mahogany Double-Sided Counting-House Desk, mid 19th century, the middle section with a brass tubular frame flanked by two writing slopes covered in green and gilt tooled leather, on pedestals with three graduated drawers and a frieze drawer above a cupboard door moulded as two dummy drawers, all between fluted pilasters, on a moulded base with castors, 187cm by 161cm by 118cm. Reasonable condition. Leather with some wear, scratches, scuffs etc. The leather is starting to lift on one side, with a small section missing. Timber around top with fine natural? shrinkage split below the brass rail. One side of moulded section with small shrinkage split. Similar small split on opposing side. The two-as-one cupboard door with splits to the false drawer fronts. General scuffs and faults around the moulded base and panelled sides consistent with age. 100220

Generally in very good cosmetic condition. The cornice has a small section missing on the corner. Arched moulding on all cupboard doors with gap/split at top, this has caused the veneer/timber to lift on the left hand central cupboard door and the right hand wing cupboard door.
