A late 17th/early 18th century burr walnut escritoire with fall-front revealing a fitted interior of pigeonholes and drawers around a central cupboard door, on a base of two short and two long drawers, on bun feet, 172 x 114 x 53cm. CONDITION REPORT There are obviously some signs of wear given the age of the piece. There are splits in various places, one section is coming away from the other to the right hand side of the cushion cornice. There are several splits to the right hand base, two horizontal splits running vertically either side of the central panel and a few chips to the veneer horizontally at the bottom. The left hand side cushioning has a split where two parts are coming away from each other. There is a large split vertically on the right hand top side and four splits on the base. However there does not appear to be anything missing from the piece and the interior is nice and bright. There is a small chip to the central door, to the left hand edge and some scratches where the brackets have caught the wood.
YOUNGER; a reproduction Jacobean-style oak sideboard with three frieze drawers above three panelled doors, to side rail base, 75 x 158 x 47cm (af). CONDITION REPORT The left hand drawer and the central drawer are missing the drop loop handles. The centre door does have the backing plate, but is just lacking the handle, whereas the whole component is missing from the left drawer. There are scuffs, scratches, stains, etc throughout the entire piece.
A vintage distressed green painted dentist's side table, with dished top above single drawer and open shelf above single cupboard door, all raised on tubular frame, 80 x 38 x 37cm. CONDITION REPORT Very distressed throughout, with areas of the green paint peeling away in large areas showing a white painted covering below, with areas rubbed through, showing rust, etc.
An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, the square enamelled dial set with Roman numerals and five-minute track, with two smaller subsidiary dials, one for seconds, the other for date, two winding holes flanked by painted garden birds, garden flowers to each corner, dial marked 'Barry, Bolton' (possibly John or Thomas c1800), in mahogany case with brass embellished swan neck top, flat fluted columns to hood and water fluter columns to body, shaped door, height approx 215cm.
JAPY FRÈRES; a 19th century French champlevé enamelled gilt, brass mantel clock, the gilt dial set with Roman numerals and flanked by cherubic figural columns, further surmounted by a cherub, to stepped socle base and turned feet, raised on a separate velvet-lined gilt-heightened base, height 50cm (af). There is some rubbing to the gilt finish on the body of the clock and some verdigris showing through some areas of enamel. The rear lens on the door to the movement is cracked and the bezel for that door is a dulled finish, rather than gilt brass like the rest of it. Otherwise good condition. The movement ticks when wound, though this is no guarantee of working order. The back plate of the movement is stamped with the maker's name just off-centre, it is further stamped '999' to the left hand side and '55' to the lower edge.
