A George III mahogany and satinwood inlaid longcase clock signed John Scott Edinburgh circa 1790, with gilt metal eagle surmount to the hood flanked by a scroll pediment and turned finial above glazed door enclosing a 13 inch silvered dial with strike silent subsidiary dial above Arabic and Roman numerals, seconds subsidiary dial and date aperture, flanked by a Corinthian style column, shell inlaid motifs and floral garlands to the trunk, with pendulum and two lead weights, 229cm high CONDITION REPORT: Lot 298 - some cracks in veneer, base of hood left hand side is loose - the side panel is held up by column to front still being attached to it, silvered face is marked and scratched, some knocks/gauges to wood, areas of beading have been lost and others re-glued, bowing of veneer evident near base, splits/heating cracks to wood, four bun feet present, slight scuffs to corners, pendulum and weights present, left hand column loose at top, small crack to glass on right hand side of hood, left hand ball finial at top has been re-glued. Key present.
