Lot 2295

Japan, zwart lacqué brievenkist ingelegd met Vrijmetselarij symbolen, ca. 1860. Symbolen omringd door lauwerkrans, zijkanten met decoratie van bloemen in parelmoer (beschadigingen). Volgens overlevering zijn er twaalf van deze kisten gemaakt voor o.a. leden van het Japans/Nederlandse culturele uitwisselingsprogramma in 1863. Twee daarvan (Nishi Amane en Tsuda Mamichi) zijn in aanraking gekomen met Professor Simon Vissering in Leiden welke door hem voorgesteld zijn bij de Vrijmetselarij, zij traden toe in 1864. De bewuste kist is aan Vissering geschonken na hun gedwongen vertrek naar Japan. [1] b. 32 cm, b. 16 cm, h. 7,5 cm
