Lot 1163

An early 19th century oak and mahogany longcase clock by John Blaylock of Carlisle, with two train striking movement. Interestingly the weights are both cast "Blaylock Carlisle". Height 212 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is complete with weights and pendulum. It is currently ticking away and striking when advanced. The polish to the case is a little dry in places, however the case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. Neither door is warped. The base has some minor edge nibbles to the crossbanded veneers but no real issues. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.

Lot 1213

The upper doors are not warped and close as they should. We have the lock and key. The shelves are in good order and the glass is not damaged. The shelf below the doors has ring marks and scratches as is typical. The left-hand door is currently detached. This would easily fix back into place. The carcass is not damaged around the hinges which are present. Quite why the door has been removed we do not know. The sides of the bookcase are in generally good order. The lower doors are not warped. The left-hand door bottom panel beading is missing and the right-hand door bottom beading is loose. The doors are not warped.

Lot 675

A Volvo two door saloon from the Volvo 120 Series, petrol, green, 1778 cc, mileage 87,903, with original keys, warranty, service booklet and V5C form (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The vehicle has come in for sale from a local deceased estate. We have not made any attempt to start the vehicle. The chassis number on the V5 is 306976 and the engine number 5265936. The car has been under present ownership since June 2008 and the V5 states four former keepers. There are some receipts with the paperwork but nothing of any significance. The last MOT was 2011/2012 where the recorded mileage was 87,844. The previous MOT's go back to 1993 where the mileage was recorded as 66,767. The last four MOT's show the vehicle as having only travelled 100 or so miles each year. The present pedometer reading is 87,903, suggesting that the vehicle has only travelled 100 or so miles since 2012. Whilst the vehicle seems fairly solid we cannot give any sensible condition report on either the mechanics or bodywork of the car.

The movement seems to strike as it should when advanced manually. The face is reasonably clean although the silvering around all dials is rubbed. The bevelled glass door when viewed from the front is in good condition. There are however two small chips around the retaining nails when viewed from the inside. The mahogany case is in generally good order but could do with a polish. All metalwork is tarnished and dirty. The block beneath the centre pineapple is a different colour. The grande-sonnerie works except for at quarter to the hour (last quarter) when the strike fails to activate (strikes correctly when repeat button is pressed during the last quarter). The dial is in fine condition with no visible faults other than some very slight discolouration to the minute hand. The case is essentially in near immaculate condition with good strong gilding throughout and no visible damage to the glasses (including those for the portrait miniatures). The right-hand side miniature appears to have a very slight surface blemish (possibly a restored crack?) to the background behind the figure's head (towards right hand margin).
