HUXLEY THOMAS: (1825-1895) English Biologist, known as 'Darwin's Bulldog' for his advocacy of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. A.L.S., T H Huxley, four pages, 8vo, London, 10th January 1880's (largely illegible), to Mr. Burke. Huxley informs his correspondent, in part, 'I thank you very much for your congratulations as I have every reason to believe that I shall shortly have a right to do so. But at present I am only in the position of a Bishop designate - the newspapers of course being quite wrong in all their announcements' further remarking, 'I may add that I do not intend to leave to be a 'fisher of men' and that a special landing net shall always be ready for you (in the hands of my daughter Nettie) at the front door'. London Underground enamel STOCK-NUMBER PLATE from 1938-Tube Stock Driving Motor Car 11197. These plates were located inside, at the end of each car above the inter-communicating door. In good condition with some splashes of gold paint (easily removed, if wished) from the re-painting of the grille behind the plate upon car overhaul. [1]

A George III ebonised longcase clock by John Pratt of Sawbridgeworth, the arched dial with internal chapter ring, strike/silent, and pierced metal spandrels, having an eight day movement with twin weights and pendulum Condition Report / Extra Information Dial and strike silent subsidiary dial require re-silvering.General dirt/ dust and surface grubbiness to movement.We are unsure as to working order.Case later ebonised.Splintered loss to upper left hand corner of door.
William Midgeley of Sheffield - 18th century oak longcase clock, the 12¼" square brass dial signed and numbered 159, having cast brass cherub mask spandrels, brass chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, rolling date dial, engraved centre, with twin dummy winding holes and having 30-hour weight driven movement striking on a bell, the case having plain panelled door to boxbase, on bracket feet, h.195cm

1992 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit MkII, finished in Bordeaux with twin fine lines in Parchment, it is fitted with white wall tyres, Spur wheels trims and Rolls-Royce quarter pillar badges, the interior is in Parchment piped in St James Red with Cherry Red carpets and sheepskin over-rugs, a Cream Marvelon headlining with Black top roll and steering wheel. It also has fully veneered door capping rails. The car has 16 service stamps showing the low mileage of 14,000 to be genuine. It has had one owner from new and spent its entire life on the island of Jersey. The car has had a recent service.
