LNER 12" Drop Dial Clock manufactured by Seth Thomas, USA. Ex MANOR POWIS Signalbox between Cambus and Stirling on the original Stirling & Dunfermline Railway. The clock is in working order but the glass is missing from the bottom door. Inside the door is the original Seth Thomas Instruction sheet pasted to the backboard and also the small LNER numberplate 15879. Accompanying is a couple of colour photographs of the signalman, Jim Drysdale with the very clock in the background (painted in Scottish light blue colour).

A Fine Rosewood and Ormolu Mounted Striking Bracket Clock, signed James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, No.2188, circa 1835], the case with shaped cresting and applied ormolu shell and scrolled mounts to the front pilasters, raised on scroll feet, sides and the top with glazed panels, back door with pierced sound fret and numbered "2188", 4-1/4-inch silvered dial with foliate engraved centre, set within a pierced scroll leaf decoration, five pillar twin fusee movement with anchor escapement and striking on a gong, movement backplate signed, 33cm high *The McCabe family was renowned for Clock and Watch making in the 19th Century. James McCabe who was apprenticed to Reid & Auld before succeeded the McCabe business in 1811, when his father died. He had several business partners between 1811 to 1838, when his business was destroyed by a fire in the Royal Exchange. He was succeeded many years later by has nephew Robert Jeremy McCabe.

A very similar clock by this maker is illustrated in "British Clocks Illustrated" by Brian Loomes, pg 220.

He is recorded as between 1706-90.

An Exceptional William and Mary Walnut and Marquetry Longcase Clock, signed Christopher Gould, London, circa 1695], the case pediment with barley twist pilasters and scroll fretted frieze, glazed side panels, early concave moulding beneath the hood, the moulded trunk door with brass edged lenicle and three marquetry panels edged with boxwood stringing and depicting birds, tulips, carnations and other flowers around acanthus foliage, the sides also panelled with boxwood stringing, conforming plinth raised on bun shaped feet, 10-1/2-inch square brass dial with silvered chapter ring, dial plate with engraved floral decoration to the borders and positioned at 6 o'clock signed "Christopher Gould, Londini, Fecit", the finely matted dial centre with engraved central Tudor rose, date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial, ringed winding holes, pierced cherub and leaf spandrels, the eight day five pillar movement with bolt and shutter maintaining power, countwheel striking on a bell, 203.5cm high *Christopher Gould (1655-1718) was a famous maker of fine clocks. He was admitted to the Clockmakers' Company as a Free Brother in 1682. He took on several apprentices between 1682 and 1718, but despite his skill as a good clockmaker he was declared bankrupt in 1706, and from that time on he suffered misfortune, until his death in 1718. He worked near Royal Exchange in London and was a great repute making a number of well made clocks in superb cases, bracket and grande sonnerie examples, and for which he was particularly noted from his longcase clocks. His work is illustrated and described in all the major horological reference books and there are examples of his clocks in the British Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art. Four of his longcase clocks were in the Wetherfield Collection including three walnut marquetry and one which is also illustrated in Cescinsky and Webster's "English Domestic Clocks" in a black lacquered case.
