An Elliott of London walnut cased musical bracket clock, in the mid-18th century style, retailed by Garrard & Co of London, the figured walnut case with caddy top and lacquered brass carry handle over an arched brass dial, with silvered chapter ring, Garrard retailers badge to matted centre, and with Whittington, Westminster and Winchester chimes dial to the arch, with further chime/silent and slow/fast subsidiary dials, three winding holes for a wire-driven triple fusee musical movement playing eight hammers on eight bells, with further hammer on large bell, the backplate signed Elliott London and numbered 109/250, the case with glazed side panels and rear door, h.39cm (handle down). Footnote: This clock was made for the Crown jewellers Garrard of Regent Street, London, to commemorate the anniversary of the London clockmaker Daniel Quare . The pierced brass carry handles incorporate the initials DQ. In good working order with all functions working.Some tarnishing to carry handle.Case complete and excellent; no splits, losses to woodworm, some fading to back only.With original ‘T’ winding key.An excellent example.

An early 20th century lacquered brass and onyx mantel clock by Moulinie of Geneva, having visible platform escapement over signed white enamel dial, with Roman numerals, twin winding holes for a twin barrel eight day going movement, with outside countwheel, hour and half-hour striking on a bell, further signed and numbered to the backplate 180 (possibly with further digit to number, but obscured by fixing point), the case with lion mask ring handles to an onyx plinth, w.12cm. Condition report: Door fits well but top pin is not properly affixed, see image. Some tarnishing to brass. In working order. Strike fully working. Enamel dial good, no chips or hairlines. Onyx good.

A GOOD LATE VICTORIAN ENGLISH EBONISED BRACKET CLOCK BY BIRCH & GAYDON, LONDON, eight day movement with Westminster chime, the case with bell top pediment having a brass handle above gilt dial with subsidiary 'strike/silent' and 'slow/fast' dials to the arch, maker's name and address on silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and with Rococo spandrels. The stepped case having applied gilt metal mounts, filigree and red silk side panels, all on gilt metal bracket feet, 42.5cms high Condition Report: excellent, appears to be complete without later replacement parts, case structurally sound without signs of splitting or raising, working at time of cataloguing but without guarantee - please view. Lot 63

A mid 18c eight day longcase clock, the 12in dial brass dial signed Hampson, Wrexham No.807 and having Turks head spandrels, engraved dial centre, ringed winding holes and date and seconds indications. The four pillar movement has ringed and knopped pillars, rack strike and anchor escapement and is contained in an oak case crossbanded with walnut. The hood has a caddy top (loose) and two gilt finials and a band of fretwork above the dial. The hood door has attached columns and the long rectangular trunk door has a walnut crossbanded edge. The base has a rectangular applied panel with crossbanded edges and bracket feet and the clock stands 87in tall overall.

Lot 64

An eight day longcase clock with 12in arched brass dial composed of parts from other clocks. The associated movement is four pillar and rack striking on a bell and has anchor escapement. It is contained in an oak case crossbanded with mahogany. The arched hood has swan neck pediments and the fluted columns have Corinthian capitals. The long trunk door has a double pointed top and is crossbanded in mahogany and it is flanked by fluted quarter columns. The base is plain and has a plinth with bracket feet, 85in tall overall.

Lot 67

A mid 18c Dutch eight day longcase clock, the unsigned 13in arched silvered brass dial having moonphase, date, alarm set and seconds indicators as well as segments indicating day of week and month of the year. The dial corners have spandrels indicating the four seasons and the dial centre is engraved and has ringed winding holes. The movement has Dutch striking on two bells and has a separate alarm mechanism. It is contained in a marquetry case with arched hood surmounted by figures of Atlas and two angels. A sound fret runs around the hood, above the dial and the sides of the hood also have frets. The hood door and columns are inlaid with marquetry as is the long trunk door which has an arched top and a glazed lenticle, the frame of which has a depiction of an angel. The substantial bombe base is marquetry inlaid and has large paw feet. The clock stands 103in tall overall.

Devizes', within moulded octagonal surround, the throat moulding fully inscribed, over moulded break-arched trunk door with chinoiserie relief panel, the whole later-fitted with a 19th Century movement of knopped four-pillar design, 140.5cm high Condition: Dial gilding has some discolouration and there is minor old vertical cracking, winding hole through D of Devizes, replacement 19th Century timepiece movement (wire fusee barrel but no fusee cone), case otherwise has general wear commensurate with age but is in remarkably good condition for a clock of this type, sold with weight, pendulum and winder - **General condition consistent with age

Castagnola 1872, the Baroque-style cabinet of architectural form surmounted by five cast figures of Minerva, Venus etc over agate ball balustrade and inlaid pediment, breakfront frieze inlaid with agate geometric shapes, central hinged door with lapis lazuli Corinthian columns flanking hardstone rose panel, pilasters and figures enclosing a mirrored and figured walnut interior, in turn between two pairs of deep drawers, each inlaid with pietra dura panels of birds, butterflies, flowers, musical trophies etc, the stand with central secret writing compartment and inset with four 7cm diameter micromosaic panels of the Roman Forum, Castel Sant'Angelo, Tomb of Caecilia Metella, and The Temple of the Sibyl at Tivoli respectively, on tapering square section supports with bun feet, 115cm x 43cm x 196cm high. Provenance - Deceased estate, Weston Super Mare, a descendant of the Capel Cure family of 'Overdeben', Woodbridge, Suffolk where this lot is mentioned in a handwritten inventory dated 20th June 1935 on p. 8 as "3 ft. 9 Italian Cabinet on stand inlaid with various stones + brass mounts and brass figures on pediments £45.0.0" Condition: Four of the eight smaller figures to the pediment are missing (there are holes in the back edges of both balustrades to accommodate same), very minor crack to moulding over central pediment, minor repairs to outer red marble/scagliola column left hand pietra dura deep drawers both have missing lozenge mouldings and one has missing side moulding, vertical cracking to inner face of central door, micromosaic generally in vgc, some ebonised mouldings detached but present, overall in very decent condition for age

Good 19th Century Italian ebonised, pietra dura and pietra paesina-inlaid cabinet on stand, the superstructure with hinged compartment and paesina panel flanked by carved recumbent lions, over twin doors inlaid with floral hardstone panels and marble cabochons enclosing an architectural interior with 'broken' pediment and oval painted panel over arched door between scagliola columns between banks of four drawers with paesina panels in turn over triple base drawer of conforming breakfront design, the doors additionally having internal arched panels, all over base drawer with matching panel, 71cm x 44cm x 67cm high, together with an associated stand with octagonally-faceted supports and X stretcher on bun feet, 139cm high overall Condition: Tight horizontal cracking to central panel of hinged cover, mother-of-pearl escutcheon to pediment has around 50% detached but present, tail of right hand carved lion is depleted, minor front-to-back cracking to pediment above same lion, tight cracking to right hand main door, interior displays general wear including scuffing and minor scratches, would benefit from a clean but is generally in 'honest' condition, some depletions where latch to left main door has scraped on base moulding beneath, rubbing to ebonised edge of base and some cracking to the panel beneath, sides have vertical cracks in central panels, the stand is of later date and lighter brown colour and is associated,
