Original invoice for Duncan Edwards' purchase of his first motor car on 21st November 1957, from the Paragon Motor Co. of Oldham and for the purchase of a new Morris Minor four door saloon de luxe finished in black with red upholstery, the invoice listing further details to chassis and engine numbers and other items, the total price including tax being seven hundred and seven pounds seventeen shillings and four pence, payment was made by cash including a deposit of £620 which is receipted; sold together with a driving licence issued by Lancashire County Council on 28th December 1957, curiously the licence is named to Mr William Edwards (as opposed to Duncan) but to his home address 19 Gorse Avenue, Stretford, surely questioning it's validity, an administration error surely, and a road test report for the Morris Minor 1000, published by the Motor magazine, (3)Lots 669 to 710Provenance: The Molly Leech Collection. Fiancée to Duncan Edwards of Manchester United and England. Thence by family descent.
A mid 20th century American Sessions Clock Company mantle clock, the silvered dial with Arabic numerals and within an oak case flanked by gilt pilasters and lion side handles, height 26cm Condition Report: Generally in good condition. The handles are secure. Some slight discolouration to the dial and tarnishing to the metal work. Some scratches and marks consistent with age and usage. No obvious restoration. Untested. Would benefit from a clean. Bezel door opens and closes securely. Pilasters are gilt wood, side handles are gilt base metal.

An early 19th century mahogany domestic regulator,with foliate carved case and silver circular dial with subsidiary hours and minutes and outer seconds, glazed trunk door enclosing mercury pendulum and brass cased weightH. 218cm.Overall case in a fair reddish brown tone a little faded particularly near the base and especially down the right-hand side. A number of fine cracks and splits running in the joints and some of the veneers of the case. Oxidisation spots to the dial. The movement is mounted onto a cast iron bracket which is screwed to the backboard. A 17th century Flemish style ebony and tortoiseshell cabinet on stand,with central cupboard surrounded by an arrangement of eleven drawers over a slide and three dummy drawers, on ring turned and squared underframe,width 99cm depth 42cm height 131cmLooks to date to the early to mid 20th century, the top and sides veneered in mahogany with some small losses and splits to the top and more notable lifting of the veneers to the sides, some of the mouldings around the short drawers to the right side have come loose but most are still present, central door opens to reveal a nonsuch interior with some small losses of the chequering and four combination dials to a back safe panel, most of the drawers lined in mahogany but the main long frieze drawer is lined in rosewood, further sections of loose moulding, drawer knobs and a finial retained in one of the drawers but some thought to be missing, stand with one section of ebony veneer missing from the right side.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place. An Edwardian Sheraton revival ebony strung satinwood display cabinet,with painted frieze and four astragal glazed doors over three drawers and four cupboard doors, the outer bowed doors painted with Venus and Cupid, on turned tapered legs,W.190cm D.47cm H.205cmOverall in honest condition with a mid golden satinwood tone, some small cracks running through the swags of the central astragal glazed doors and perhaps slightly faded to the door fronts, one key working all three upper door locks, original interior with nine shelves all upholstered in old probably original now faded watered silk fabric, two glass panels of the top right door are cracked, one key working both bowed outer doors to the base but no key for the central base lock which is open, a small section of veneer missing from the top right corner of the left middle drawer, small section of veneer missing from the top right corner of the base section, slight scuffing and wear to the lower sides and feet.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place. A set of four Meissen figures emblematic of the Elements, late 19th century,on scrollwork bases, crossed swords marks, incised model numbers C97, C98, C99 and C100,tallest 12.5cm high, minor faultsThe group emblematic of earth has losses to a plant in a pot, the encrusted leaves of the tree stump and another plant and the teeth of his rake. The figure of water is grubby but appears to be in good condition with no losses or restoration. The figure of air has losses to the tree on the right, the handle and door of the birdcage and his left arm has been broken off and re-glued with some splintering around the area. The figure of fire has a loss to the end of his stirring rod between his hands otherwise in good condition.
