A Synchronome three volt electric clock, pre 1930, Serial No. 11446, in mahogany case. Height 127.5 cm, width 30 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is all present with no losses but is generally very dirty and tired looking. There are numerous old paint marks and water staining damage particularly down the left hand side. This is principally cosmetic as the cabinet work is in generally good order. The clock door operates as it should, the hinges and catches are all present. The door is not warped. We have the pendulum however this is detached from the metal spring which appears to be complete. As far as we can tell the movement is also complete and appears to be in reasonable condition all be it a little dusty. The silvered brass dial is in generally good order with only minor blemishes and dust. The number on the N R A plate appears to be 1656.
An Edwardian brass carriage clock, timepiece only, Roman numerals. Height excluding carrying handle 15 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case whilst structurally very sound has lost much of its original lacquer and gilding. It is also very dirty. All of the glass panels are in good condition with no issues. The clock dial does not have any visible damage there are no repairs and no restoration to the dial. The rear door knob is missing. We have the key, the clock winds and is ticking away as it should.
A late 19th century French gilt brass mantle clock, with porcelain panels depicting draped female figures in an Egyptian style, the face with Roman numerals, movement by Marti & Co. Clock height excluding wooden plinth 36 cm, width 22.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in original un-restored condition. The case is dirty and tarnished and some of the original lacquer and finish is missing particularly around the base. There are however no losses to the case which is structurally in good condition. The door is in good order and the glass not damaged. The front porcelain panel is in good condition with no issues. The left hand panel is in good order also. The right hand panel has a crack running across the piece from left to right across the bottom of the figures dress and the image is a little faded. The rear door is in good condition. The movement appears to be clean and complete. The clock winds on both trains. We have the pendulum but the metal strip is damaged and we have not had the clock running.
A 19th century brass cased ships clock, with single-train fusee movement, painted dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial, diameter 25 cm, case diameter 31 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock winds and is currently ticking away although it was a little difficult to start. The movement seems original and complete as far as we are able to tell. The dial is as you see it in the picture. There are several losses, scratches and crazing and the dial really requires refinishing. The case is generally a little tired and has numerous old dents and scratches the most significant being around the hinge area on the main body of the case beneath the hinge. The door locks and shuts as it should.
A Regency brass strung bracket clock, twin fusee, by Spink & Son, 2 Great Church Street, London. Width 28.5 cm, height including finial 51 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in first class condition with no issues. The brasswork is all in good order and original. The side grilles are in good condition. We have the side case key which operates the door. The dial is in need of refurbishment. There is overpainting between the numerals 10 & 11 and 1 & 2. There are also scuffs around the edge of the dial. The Spink & Sons name & address looks to have been repainted at some time. The movement seems generally very clean. It winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking. The only real issue with the clock is the need for face refurbishment.
An Edwardian brass carriage clock, with circular enamelled dial with Roman numerals, timepiece only, 1086 grams. Height 12 cm excluding carrying handle. CONDITION REPORT: The clock winds and is ticking away as it should. There is no damage to the dial. There is slight tarnishing to the bottom right hand corner of the dial but no significant losses. The rear door has very minor chips to the bottom right hand corner but these are fairly insignificant. All other glasses are okay. The watch case is tarnished and has lost at least 50% of its original lacquered finish.
An early 19th century Gothic rosewood cased bracket clock, with two-train fusee movement and painted dial by T. Cox Savoury, Cornhill, London, No. 1610. Width 26 cm, height 45.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in generally very good condition. There is no damage to the front door which is not warped. The sides of the case are in good order and the brasswork is original. The only minor damage is to the very rear of the pitch where there is a small timber loss of very little significance. The movement appears to be complete and is not over wound. The clock is ticking away and we have the original pendulum. Please note that the metal strop at the top of the pendulum is missing but the clock is ticking without the pendulum. It appears to strike as it should. We do not have the key to open the front door. The face is in extremely good order and in our opinion looks to have been professionally refinished at some time within the last 10-15 years or so.
A 19th century boulle marquetry mantle clock, with two-train movement, the face marked "E. Villemsens, Paris". Height 33 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This clock winds as it should and appears to be ticking away. The dial is in generally good order with one minor surface blemish above the left hand winding aperture. There are no cracks to the dial. The clock case is all complete with no significant losses. There are cracks to the boulle work beneath the bird but no losses. The reminder of the case is in good order and simply a little dirty. The same applies to the metal mounts. The rear door is original and operates as it should.
A 19th century Dutch walnut spice cupboard, with parquetry door enclosing a series of drawers and centre aperture, with further drawer to base. Width 58 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top of the piece is veneered and has losses to the rear right hand corner, back edge and rear left hand corner. There are various further scuffs marks and stress fractures to the top and there is a small loss to the top right hand corner of the cornice. The cornice moulding is all present and correct and the sides of the piece are in good condition. The front door has old scuffs and stress fractures particularly to the top right hand corner and the bottom left which should be visible from our image. The hinges which are probably later work effectively. The interior is in generally good condition with no significant issues. The base drawer operates as it should and is in good order. The plinth base itself has scuffs to the extremities. The piece is structurally sound.
A Regency mahogany hanging corner cupboard, Whitehaven design, with swans neck pediment with foliate terminals, with panelled door enclosing green painted shelves, flanked by canted angles with applied mouldings. Width 89.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Height to top of swans neck pediment 141 cm. The backboards and shelves are original. The swans neck pediment is in generally good order. The centre finial is missing. There has been a break across the left hand swans neck which should be visible from the image. There are no losses. The cornice is in good order. The door is well figured and in good order. There is no significant warping. The canted angles are in good condition and there are no losses to the mouldings. The interior shelves are in good order. There is no woodworm. We have the door key.
A George III longcase clock, with George I walnut case with straight caddy top above a broken arched hood with blind fretted scrollwork frieze, the trunk with arched door and base each of finely figured veneer with herringbone banding, the whole of good quality with cross grain mouldings, the later striking movement being eight day and with moon phase work to the arch, with silvered chapter ring and engraved centre with calendar aperture signed "Joseph Bell" within Rococo spandrels. Joseph Bell was probably of Burnhill Row, London circa 1780. Height 234 cm (see illustration).
A Victorian mahogany longcase clock by Rutherford of Huddersfield, with swans neck pediment above the arched glazed door enclosing the 13.5 inch arched painted dial with eight-day striking movement, subsidiary seconds dial and date, flanked by turned columns and with short trunk door and circular panel to the base. Height 235 cm.
A Victorian mahogany bookcase, with detachable moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves and flanked by pillars with carved capitals and enclosing shelves, the base with two drawers above a pair of panelled cupboard doors and raised on a plinth base. Width 148 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 237 cm. This is generally a good quality bookcase with only a few minor problems. The cornice is in good condition. Both doors are unwarped. The left hand door has a loss to the upper right hand corner by the locking mechanism. This is largely obscured by the centre edging strip when the door is closed. Ideally a small piece of mahogany approx 1 cm x 6 cm should be let in in this area. The sides of the top are in good condition. The base has the top left hand return moulding missing. The sides of the base are in good condition as are the doors. The plinth is in good order at the front but a little scuffed on the left and right hand returns. The handles are all later replacements.
A large Victorian pitch pine wardrobe, with centre mirror door enclosing a series of trays and drawers flanked on either side by a panelled cupboard door enclosing hanging space and with plinth base. Width 230 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height from the floor to the top of the cupboard plinth 206.5 cm. Door height 180 cm, width 50 cm.
A George III oak longcase clock by Hugh Lough of Penrith, with 11 inch silvered brass dial, 30 hour movement and date aperture, with crossbanded trunk door and raised on bracket feet. Height 190 cm. CONDITION REPORT: In our opinion this clock is not a marriage. The dial matches the movement and the movement matches the case. The mask around the dial fits perfectly. The case is in generally first class condition. There are two very minor losses to the top of the cornice at the left hand corner and front right hand corner. The remainder of the hood is in very good order. The trunk door is not warped. There is a small loss approximately 3 inches below the lock escutcheon on the left hand side moulded edge. The base is in very good order as are the feet.
