An '18th century' mahogany longcase clock, 30cm arched brass dial inscribed John Smallwood, Lichfield, Roman and Arabic numerals, moon face to arch, subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture, twin-winding holes, eight-day movement striking on a bell, the case in the Scottish taste with arched hood flanked by pointed acorn finials, rectangular panelled door to waist, 257cm high (alterations) John Smallwood of Lichfield was working from before 1730 until 1741 when a sale of his stock took place implying that he had died or retired.
