Ainsi, les toiles de Jane Graverol sont des « rêves éveillés, des rêves conscients » qui n'ont besoin ni de l'automatisme, ni de l'onirisme chers aux Surréalistes. La représentation féminine y occupe une place importante, militante et sensuelle, comme dans cette « Chute de Babylone » dont la composition, éprouvée à plusieurs reprises par Jane Graverol, définit le corps de la femme par son absence. La silhouette féminine est sculptée dans un bloc indéterminé sur lequel l'artiste a appliqué des collages, des fragments de journaux. L'illusion est parfaite, le dépaysement poétique efficace.
