A 19th century Chinese ivory inlaid and carved side cabinetThe top section profusely inlaid with ivory figures and floral sprays and with twin pierced carved cupboard doors over an arrangement of five drawers with turned handles, the base section with four inlaid cupboard doors, the panelled sides decorated with horses and birds amongst flowering trees. 164 cm high; 87 cm wide. CONDITION REPORTS: Some scuffing, scratching and staining, some small inlay losses, some plank separation, some splits, looses to carving to doors, one base cupboard door loose but present, one small slighter to top side section loose but present, general wear.
A Victorian marquetry inlaid and ormolu mounted burr walnut credenzaThe shaped top above the twin serpentine glazed doors centred with a floral marquetry panelled central door, interspersed by ormolu figural mask mounts, standing on an ormolu mounted plinth base. 191 cm wide. CONDITION REPORTS: Some scuffing and scratching, some small veneer losses, some fading, some mounts loose, two small patches to top possibly original, general wear.
An eight-day longcase clock,by John Hill, King Street, Covent Garden, the square brass dial with a subsidiary seconds dial, ringed winding holes and calendar aperture within crown and cherub spandrels and an engraved border, the striking movement with four ringed pillars, housed in a walnut case made by local craftsman, David Coleman,dial 11in diameter (28cm)case 205cm highA paper label to the inside door reads: 'This longcase clock was bought at auction in the Salerooms of Sworders in Bishop's Stortford Nov. 1990. The original ebonised pine case was worm eaten and dilapidated and the movement, though complete, was in need of total restoration. This was done by Michael Hudson of Saffron Walden. The walnut case, a faithful replica, was made by David Coleman of Clavering, Essex and installed into his cottage February 1991'.Sold with a copy of David Coleman's autobiography, 'No Money In My Pocket', the clock is referred to on page 183.
