A 17th Century German door or castle lock, ornate wrought and pierced iron, the backing plate decorated with scrolling foliage with Moorish influences, characteristic dome covered mechanism, first half of the 17th Century, together with another later with foliate pierced backing plate decorated with fish, the mechanism housing with foliate pierced brass over lay. Scott, Edinburgh, maker to The Prince of Wales, a Regency period twin fusee bracket clock with engraved silvered dial, the movement with engraved makers details and striking the hours on a bell, within a balloon waisted mahogany case on cast brass bracket feet, 58 cm high Condition Report movement appears clean and functioning at time of cataloguing, silvered dial refurbished and showing a multitude of crackleure style scratches (possibly varnish deterioration), the movement door showing chip to bottom left corner (piece missing) and old replacement hinge, the case showing vertical slit beneath bezel

Daimler Jaguar You wont be alone in mistaking it for a Mk 2 Jaguar given that the body is almost identical to the Jaguar. The big difference was under the bonnet where you will find the highly regarded 2.5 V8 engine. With its distinctive “Growl” and a number of refinements such as the walnut veneer on the dash boardThe Mark 2 had been branded as the first family saloon car capable of exceeding 100mph . Daimler were aware that the popular success of the Mk 2 with an expanding client base, might compromise the Jaguar brand, but Daimler were confident that there was a market for an upgraded version which was to be powered by the new and much admired V8 engine, giving it a more comfortable ride. It became the car of choice for many aspiring members of the "professional “ middle classes.This car was built in 1966 and has automatic transmission and power steering which comes in handy when you want to park or do a U3 point turn. It has a genuine miles ( There is sufficient paper evidence to support that figure. ) Interestingly the 3 previous owners all lived in the same Yorkshire village. It is all original inside and out. It has black leather seats and golden walnut dash board. It also has a new battery and 5 new tyres . It's in extremely good condition, inside and out. IT has been very well looked after, as you would expect given its mileage and paperwork. There are photos of its ground up repaint. All the door open and shut with and satisfying little click.The under carriage has been sealed although there are 2 or 3 very small signs of rust under a wheel arch and door.
Good late 18th century longcase clock, the engraved, arched silvered Roman/Arabic dial with maker's name, James Smith of Edinburgh, in attractive mahogany case with scroll cresting and shaped top door; with attractive printed label giving Smith's directions to setting up and managing the clock dated Edinburgh 1789, 210cm high.
Victorian gentleman's walnut wardrobe by Gillows of Lancaster, pattern no. L809, the central doors enclosing slides flanked by eight drawers, 117cm high, 214cm wide and 61cm deep. Condition Report Drawer edge is stamped Gillows. No visible repairs. Top left hand side moulding is missing. Two sliding drawers missing. Moulding at the side of door missing. No visible signs of worm. Veneer is marked, has scratches, paint splatters, ink staining and is watermarked etc. The veneer is lifting on the corners of the doors. The varnish is oxidised. Some chips and gouges. Chips to the interior drawer slides. In need of a little TLC. Ok condition.

George Lumley of Bury St Edmunds - a George III mahogany cased droptrunk wall clock, having a convex brass and glass bezel, 12" silvered dial signed George Lumley Bury to the centre, with Roman and Arabic numerals, single winding hole for a brass wire driven eight day fusee movement, the plain case with hinged door to base, h.53cmNote: George Lumley is recorded in Suffolk Clocks & Clockmakers by Haggar & Miller as born in Bury St Edmunds 1723(?), and died 1784. He was admitted a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in October 1745 Condition Report / Extra Information In running order.Glass good.Minor pitting and tarnishing to brass bezel.Loss to mahogany near lock.Lock loose but present.Mahogany case with minor age/handling wear.Two small holes to side panel.Some surface scratches to dial.Grubby in parts.All black penwork appears over-painted, albeit some time ago.Anchor escapement.Dial and movement have been bolted to box so that we cannot remove movement.Interior of case suggests it has been rebuilt.Some later parts.No keys.With pendulum.
*John Shaw of Holborn - A late 17th century walnut and seaweed marquetry inlaid long case clock, the square brass 12" dial having signed silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, cast cherub spandrels, matted centre with date aperture within engraved surround depicting the Doves of Pliny, subsidiary seconds dial, twin ringed winding holes for a brass eight day five pillar weight driven movement striking on a bell, with brass cased weights, the finely inlaid case with pedestal vase issuing flowers and foliage with single bird, around a glass lenticel, to further inlaid boxbase, h.220cm Condition Report / Extra Information Stands well.With crank key, weights and pendulum.No door key.Weights are brass cased but brass completely tarnished.Glass to lenticel is probably old replacement.Case and veneers generally excellent, some minor losses as pictured only.Backboard with numerous old fixing holes.Traces of old worm to bracket feet.Colour good to very good.Seatboard appears to be later replacement.One cheek built up.Dial and movement appear all original.Some tarnishing to silvered chapter ring.Provenance; known to have stood in Thorne Court near Bury St Edmunds for several generations, and removed from that address.

*A George III mahogany kneehole writing desk, having a crossbanded over fitted long drawer and centre cupboard door (faded), w.90cm, d.54cm, h.76cm Condition Report / Extra Information Faded all over.With original brass furniture.Fine split to edge of top.Slight ripples to top but generally good.Moulding to edge of top is loose but present.Fitted drawer is good.One brass knob missing.Split to lower front left side and chip to right side.With age wear and minor knocks all over.Appears completely untouched.
Michael Gillespie (1929-2012) Girl (Sunflower), abstract and slender bronze sculpture, raised over a black slate plinth, signed 'MGN 4/10', 24.5 cm Remembered as a fine bronze-caster, during his career Michael Gillespie worked for Jacob Epstein to produce numerous bronze heads and also for Elisabeth Frink, who called him the 'best bronze caster in England'. In 1969 he wrote Studio Bronze Casting with John W Mills, and in 1979 Frink arranged that Mike should cast a copy of the great bronze sanctuary knocker on the door of Durham Cathedral. Born in London, Gillespie was educated at St Paul's school and Hammersmith College of Art (1952-56). Gillespie's sculpture was often abstract, dealing with balance and weight in a way that implied a sensation of imminent movement.
A fine late 19th / early 20th Century English three-train long case clock, retailed by Edward Ewen of Dumfries, the eight-day movement playing and striking on nine tubular bells, having an arched face with silvered chapter, 'chime-silent' and chime selector dials to the arch, decorated with profuse foliate scroll blind fret-work overall, having Westminster, Whittington and St Michael chimes, in mahogany case with bevelled glass window to the trunk door, 226 cm
