A JAMES II TANKARD with domed lid and foot, later chased with a family seated around their hearth, a sportsman at the open door, the lid with chinoiserie thumbpiece and armorial finial, 30cm h, by Timothy Ley, London 1686, 57ozs Provenance: The arms are those of Thomas Brocklehurst of Macclesfield, banker and Martha Mary, his wife, only surviving child of Thomas Unett of Market Drayton, Shropshire. They were married on 12 August 1823 and the present tankard was presumably embellished and given its `antiquarian` dress at that time. Thomas was descended from a long line of highly successful merchants and bankers in Macclesfield, Cheshire and the Dent-Brocklehurst family of Sudeley Castle, Gloucestershire are descended from his elder brother. The terminal of the handle is engraved GAP HOUSE and the panels around the foot record the names of its earlier owners from OLIVER AND JOANNA BROCKLEHURST 1549, 2ND EDW IV to THOMAS & MARTHA BROCKLEHURST 1823 3RD GEORGE IV. ++In well preserved condition from the early 19th c date when the tankard was given its `antiquarian` dress in presumably about 1823.

Collier, Eccles, early 19th century the four pillar rack and bell striking movement with 14 inch square white painted Roman numeral dial with arched calendar and ‘axehead’ moon apertures and signed D. Collier, Eccles to the seated lamb painted centre, the spandrels painted with female figures emblematic of the four seasons, the case with pierced swan neck crest above cavetto cornice, baton inlaid frieze and turned columns to hood, oval paterae inlaid frieze to throat over gothic ogee arch shaped trunk door flanked by reeded pilasters to angles, on crossbanded plinth base with canted angles and ogee bracket feet.
A Scottish George III tortoiseshell japanned eight-day longcase clock Robert Clidsdale, Edinburgh circa 1775 The five pillar rack and bell striking movement with 12 inch brass break-arch dial with calendar aperture and narrow silvered subsidiary seconds ring to the matted centre within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes to outer track and gilt female mask and scroll cast spandrels to angles beneath arch with circular silvered boss signed Rob.t Clidsdale, Edinburgh above Strike/Silent switch and flanked by dolphin cast mounts, in a pagoda pedimented case with glazed aperture to upstand and three quarter columns to hood above break-arch door decorated in raised gilt and polychrome with oriental figures within a garden terrace landscape on a mottled ‘shell’ ground to trunk, on conforming plinth base with moulded skirt, (case with restoration) 234cm (92ins) high. Robert Clidsdale is recorded in Smith, John OLD SCOTTISH CLOCKMAKERS 1453-1850 as being apprenticed to Alexander Brand in 1738, he gained his Freedom in 1754 and worked presumably until his death in 1786.

Kember, Shaw to lower edge, the angles with bird and urn cast spandrels, the case with shallow box upstand, ogee cornice and foliate blind fret to frieze above three quarter columns to hood, rectangular caddy moulded door to trunk, on plinth base with moulded skirt, 210cm (82.5ins) high. Josiah Kember is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in Shaw 1771-7.
A Victorian weight driven eight-day drop trunk wall clock, possibly by W. Robinson, Dudley, mid 19th century The four pillar two train rack and bell striking movement with 16 inch circular white Roman numeral dial bearing signature W. ROBINSON, Dudley to centre and with blued steel hands, the case with convex glass inset rosewood crossbanded moulded door to dial surround above concave-topped rectangular door with conforming crossbanded borders to trunk and reeded upper collar to the curved base, 136cm (53.5ins) high.

A pair of Louis XVI tulipwood, marquetry and gilt metal mounted corner cabinets stamped L.FOUREAU JME, circa 1780, grey veined white marble tops, each door centred by a musical trophy within an oval reserve, cornered by floral branches, square section tapering feet, 92cm high, 77cm wide, 49cm deep Louis Foureau was made master in 1755. In the third quarter of the 18th century Louis Foureau established his workshop in rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis where he was famous for furniture lacquer decorated in the gout de la Chine.
