Lot 1110
A Victorian Scottish mahogany drumhead longcase clock by William Wilson, Airdrie, with two train striking movement, the case with keyhole shaped trunk door. Height 193 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: We have both weight and pendulum. The movement is extremely dirty and the bottom of the crutch is missing from the escapement. When weight is applied to the going train it does operate and the same applies to the strike train. The date wheel is not present. The clock case itself is in generally good order with no significant issues. The hood has the usual stress fractures to the veneers and some veneer losses around the cylindrical section behind the circular door. There are no splits to the sides. The door is not warped and there are no significant problems with the base.

An Elliott grandmother clock, three train striking movement with silvered brass dial, with swans neck pediment, long trunk door and all raised on ogee moulded bracket feet. Height 193 cm, width across base of hood 32 cm, trunk width 21.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on the centre train but is fully would on the other two. We have the pendulum but the piece that attaches the pendulum to the crutch is missing. We have not had the clock running. The movement does however seem fairly clean. All gongs are present. The case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. The trunk door is not warped, the bracket feet are all present and original. There is no woodworm.

A George III oak longcase clock, with swans neck pediment above the arched painted dial and two train striking movement, with long trunk door and conforming base raised on bracket feet. Height 213 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have both weights and pendulum. We have not had the movement running, however when weight is applied to both the strike and going trains the movement does strike and tick. The face is all over crazed and the numerals have been repainted. The case is a little tired. Whilst there are no significant losses to the hood there is old woodworm in the sides. The trunk door is not warped. It does lock as it should. Again there are traces of woodworm to the sides of the case. The base is original and all present. In our opinion any woodworm is long gone.
Lot 1124
A Georgian mahogany bureau bookcase, with swans neck pediment above a pair of glazed doors opening to shelves, the base with slope front above three short and three long drawers with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Height 228 cm, width 127 cm, depth 63 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase requires restoration hence the estimate. The flower head terminal to the swans neck pediment has losses. The pediments themselves are in generally good order and the majority of the fretwork. Greek key moulding is present to the front but missing by 50% on the right-hand side. The doors are not significantly warped but do have a light gap in the middle when closed. All glass panels are in good condition as are the pilasters. The sides of the top are structurally sound. The right-hand side has had some form of coat hooks screwed at some point and there is also a fracture of the timber just behind the bottom door hinge. The hinges are later replacements and screws are protruding through the front edge panels on both sides. The bureau slope front will not quite close properly due to a protruding lock plate. The slope appears flat but does have a loss to the timber above the lock and stress fractures to the bottom right-hand corner. The interior is stained and dirty and whilst a nice shape does have losses to the dividers. The mirror is losing the silvering. Both side panels have splits and losses. The drawers have missing sections of cockbeading and the handles which appear to go in the main through the old handle holes are clearly later. The rear feet are detached and missing. Full restoration is really required.
Lot 1125
A 19th century mahogany sideboard, with triangular and scroll carved rear pediment and fitted with a series of drawers and cupboards and raised on bracket feet. Height 116 cm, width 144 cm, depth 55 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This sideboard is of typical Victorian quality. There is some vertical veneer cracking to the triangular back. The sideboard is sold with a key which operates both doors. The left-hand door is slightly warped while the right-hand door has a veneer patch to the lock area indicating that the door must have been forced at some point. There is veneer cracking and chipping throughout as one might expect commensurate with age but there is no other major damage to mention.

A Victorian mahogany four door sideboard. CONDITION REPORT: The sideboard is structurally very sound. The top is flat with no splits or stress fractures. The polish to the top is rather dry. There are some old ring marks and the odd scratch. The moulded edge and frieze are in good condition all round. The sides are not split. The doors are not warped and close as they should. All locks are present but we do not have any keys. The doors are not locked. The plinth base has the usual scuffs and marks and some fading but no significant issues. The backboards are original. There is no evidence of any woodworm.

A George III style mahogany bookcase, with moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors opening to adjustable shelves the base fitted with cupboards with shaped apron beneath and raised on splayed bracket feet. Height 208 cm, width 117 cm, depth at cornice 31.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are four broken panes of glass. Left hand door second from top centre panel and bottom panel. Right hand door second from top centre panel and centre bottom panel. The cornice is in good order all round. The doors are not significantly warped and meet in the middle. The lock is present but we do not have the key. The sides of the top are not split and in good order. The left and right hand applied moulding to the door surrounds has nibbles to the cockbeaded edges. All astragals are in generally good order but have some surface scratches and marks. The base doors have nibbles to the cockbeading and the lock escutcheon is missing. The lock is present, we do not have the key. There are nibbles and losses around the base mouldings and some scuffs to the feet. There are four broken panes of glass. Left hand door second from top centre panel and bottom panel. Lot 1200
An Edwardian mahogany bookcase, with dentil cornice above a pair of glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, with base fitted with a pair of panelled cupboard doors. Height 213 cm, width 163 cm, depth 40 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase splits into two parts in the normal way. The rear boards are oak. The top door lock is missing, the bottom lock is present but we do not have a key. The top doors close correctly without the lock in position and there is no warping. There is no warping to the lower doors either. The retaining latches on the non-lock side of the doors are present on both the upper and lower sections.
Lot 1212
A William and Mary secretaire cabinet, the top half with two drawers above the secretaire cupboard, the base fitted with two frieze drawers and raised on cabriole legs with low stretchers and bun feet. Height 175 cm, width 113 cm, depth 49 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The secretaire is in generally good order. The cornice is a little loose and the left hand return moulding partially detached. The right hand return moulding has a small loss to the front right hand corner. The left hand side is in generally good condition but does have a patch to the front bottom corner. The colour match is fairly good but the join is visible. The right hand side has a full height stress fracture which is open but no movement. The pin plate that holds the fall front is loose on the right hand side and again there is a repair to the timber at this point. The drawers are all in generally good condition. The handles if not original go through the original handle holes. The centre cupboard door has some shrinkage and although it closes as it should and locks there is a gap on the left hand side. The lock is a later. The fall front does close and lock. There is some shrinkage and minor stress fractures which should be visible on our images. The writing surface is a little marked and stained. The base is structurally fairly sound with only minor movement. There are some repairs to the legs and the cross stretcher has sprung in the centre and has some extremity losses. The feet will be later replacements.

A Victorian inlaid walnut pier cabinet, with glazed door opening to plush lined shelves and raised on a plinth. Height 96 cm, width 76 cm, depth 38.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in generally very good condition. The top is flat and unmarked. The frieze is in good condition all round. There are no losses to the metalwork. The door is not warped and closes as it should, we have the lock and key. The cloth lining is a little faded and marked in places but in generally good order. The plinth base has some minor scuffs and nibbles as one would expect but no significant problems. The backboard is original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.

A George III oak longcase clock, with eight day striking movement by Walter Prestidge Towcester, with long trunk door and shaped apron to base. Height 210 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have two weights and the pendulum. The pendulum suspension is missing. We have not had the movement running but when weight is applied to both the strike and going trains the movement does tick and strike. The moon phase operates when the hands are advanced. The numerals and name have clearly been fairly recently repainted. These have been done professionally. The case is in generally good condition with no serious issues. The door is not warped. The sides are in good condition and the colour is universal. There are the usual join stress fractures and the odd mark but no serious problems with the case.

An 18th century walnut longcase clock by Hampson Wrexham, numbered 1162 with two train striking movement and with long trunk door. Height 202 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have two weights and the winding key and pendulum. Whilst we have not had the clock running, when weight is applied to both strike and going trains it does appear to operate as it should. The date wheel is present but does not appear to be connected. The case is in generally good condition with no serious issues. The trunk door is a little warped at the top but closes effectively. The base has lost the front edge moulding and appears a little short in height. We have the missing section of base moulding.

A 19th century mahogany bedside cabinet, with panelled door and brass handle raised on moulded legs united by a low shelf. Height 77 cm, width 32.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is structurally sound. There are no significant marks to the top only minor blemishes. The door closes as it should and is not warped. There are no repairs to the legs. The shelf is in good condition. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
Lot 1353
A 19th century mahogany bedside cabinet, the single door with applied moulding and raised on tapered legs terminating in pad feet. Height 77 cm, width 34.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is structurally sound. There is a 4 cm stress fracture to the top front left hand corner and a nail hole. The condition of the top is generally good with only very minor marks and some loss to the French polish. The door is not warped. There are no repairs to the legs and no evidence of any woodworm.

A George III mahogany longcase clock by Jonathan Blake Fulham, with two train striking movement with strike/silent to arch and with subsidiary seconds dial, with long trunk door and raised on bracket feet. Height 232 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking when advanced. The date advances when the hands are manually advanced. The case is in generally very good condition with no significant issues. The trunk door closes as it should and is not warped. Due to shrinkage there is a very slight gap to the top left hand corner of the door between the door and the case, this would easily rectify by slight movement up over of the hinges by around 1 mm if indeed it was deemed problematic. The base is in good order, we can see no evidence of any woodworm.
Lot 1488
A late 18th/early 19th century mahogany longcase clock by Jacob Houtman of Lancaster, the 32 cm brass dial with silvered chapter ring, calendar aperture, gilt brass spandrels and moon phase to the eight day two train movement striking on a bell, the hood with brass finial, arch cresting and turned pillars, the trunk with quarter fluted columns and crossbanding and shaped door. 225 cm high, with winding handle (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock winds on both trains and is currently ticking away. Both the date and the moon phase seem to advance correctly when the hands are manually adjusted. The mask fits the dial well. The seat board appears original and there is no packing. The case of good quality and typical of that from the Lancaster region. There are no significant condition issues with the case. The trunk door is not warped. It closes correctly. There are no issues of any note with the base or bracket feet.

Hodgson of Whitehaven, the 31 cm painted dial with subsidiary seconds aperture painted with ship to arch, the eight day two train movement striking on a bell, the hood with scrolled cresting, Ho Ho bird finial and fluted turned columns, the trunk with quartered fluted columns and shaped inlaid trunk door. 213 cm high, with winding handle.

A 19th century Scottish mahogany drum head clock by JH Jackson Longtown, with two train striking movement and circular dial, with moulded trunk door and panelled base. Height 205 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: We have both weights and the pendulum. Whilst we have not had the clock running if weight is applied to the going train the movement does tick. If weight is applied to the strike train the movement does strike when advanced. The date wheel is present. The date does advance when the pointers are manually adjusted. The movement is a little dirty but not dreadfully so. The clock face is in generally good order with only minor losses to the paintwork. The numerals are strong. The hood is very dirty and dusty. The polish is a little dry. There are some stress fractures to the veneers on the drum head. The trunk door is not warped, the sides of the trunk are not cracked. The base is in generally good order with only minor veneer nibbles at the extremities. These are most evident top rear left and top rear right. The plinth moulding has veneer losses. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The case is generally very dirty and requires a thorough clean.
Lot 1581
An early George III figured walnut secretaire bookcase, the upper part fitted three shelves enclosed by a pair of bevelled mirror panelled doors and fitted two candle slides, the base with brown leather lined secretaire drawer enclosing fitted interior with six small drawers, two short and two long drawers under on bracket feet. 193 cm high, 112 cm wide, 50 cm deep (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: In our opinion the top and bottom are not associated. The backboards on the top section and bottom section follow through. The shelves are actually stained pine. They are clearly not original. The shelf supports are also non original and appear to have been moved in any event. The interior may well have had an entirely different configuration and may have been pigeon holes, shelves and apertures. The insides of the upper doors are oak panels. The top may be slightly lighter in colour than the base but this is fairly marginal and if anything is likely to be caused by sun. The secretaire pigeon holes are oak. The small drawers are oak lined and based but have mahogany fronts. All other drawer linings are oak. The handles are later replacements. There is evidence of further handle holes behind the current ones. All locks are present and fit the apertures but whether they are original or not is not possible to say. We have no keys. The left hand front bracket foot has a slither of veneer missing we have the piece. The cabinet has clearly been restored within probably the last 15-20 years, probably when the leather was replaced and the handles etc. The height of the base at the tallest part of the top edge moulding is 92 cm. Clearly there is a slight recess into which the top section fits. The depth of the top section at the cornice is 49.6 cm. The depth to the outer edge of the door is just under 44 cm. The interior depth is 40.7 cm. The pediment is fixed.
Lot 1592
A Victorian amboyna wood and ebonised credenza with Sevres style porcelain plaques. CONDITION REPORT: The top spindled pediment is detached but we do have all three pieces. One of the four turned finials is missing. The superstructure is in generally very good condition with only minor stress fractures to the veneers in places but no significant losses. The mirror plates are in generally good order with some minor spotting, most of which will actually wash off. The top of the base has some faint ring marks and the odd old surface scratch. The centre drawer is a little stiff and has some minor edge veneer losses. The right and left hand shallow drawers have minor edge nibbles. All of the doors close as they should and are not warped. There is a lock escutcheon missing from the right hand small door. The front glass panels are in good condition. The lining to the shelves is worn and faded. The right hand base glazed panel needs replacing. The plinth has some veneer loss to the right hand corner. All legs are in good condition. The centre right base bearer which runs front to back behind the second leg in from the right is badly wood wormed and requires replacing. This is the only area on the piece that we can see that has any significant worm and we believe this to be pretty much isolated to that area although it would be sensible to check elsewhere and treat if necessary.

A fine William IV rosewood cased mantle clock by Viner, 235 Regents Street London, the foliate engraved gilt brass dial with Roman numerals to the fusee movement striking on two gongs, contained in case with gilt bronze folding bale handle, strike silent lever and bevelled glass panels. 24 cm high, with winding handle and case keys for same (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on the going train and is currently ticking away. It is fully wound on the strike train and is not striking when manually advanced. The carrying handle is dirty and tarnished and has lost +/- 50% of the original lacquered finish. The face is in good order with only very minor rubbing to the black in the numerals. The glass panels are all in good order. The case is in generally good condition. The top, front and righthand side are in very good order with no significant issues. The lefthand side polish is a little dry in places and there are nibbles and an old repair around the left hand door lock. We have the key, the lock operates. The rear door has a timber loss running from the top lefthand corner three quarters of the way down the door itself from 3 mm down to 0. This is a veneer loss. The rear door lock is present and operates. The side rail into which the lock keeper sits has also had a repair. The short feet are clearly later replacements, we would imagine that this would originally have had brass ball feet. In our opinion the escapement is original and the spring flat. It is a flat rectangular dial, however the diameter of the circular section is 88 mm. We have winding key and the front and rear door keys but they are all different styles and although old we cannot say whether they are original to the locks.
