1930 Austin Seven AE Tourer,Registration Number: GH1327Chassis Number: 112945Car Number: B1 - 5818Engine Number: M113554Austin’s diminutive ‘Seven’ was available to the public from January 1923 and remained in production until 1939. Simple, well-built and economical, it was easily maintained by the home mechanic and brought motoring to the masses. It was certainly a little bit more civilised than a motorcycle combination. This tourer is in wonderful unrestored condition, and while the term ‘barn-find’ has become painfully overused, the French term ‘dans son jus’ would appear to be perfectly descriptive of it.Believed to be an AE Tourer from 1930, it features chrome radiator cowl, coil ignition, the speedometer towards the centre of the dash, scuttle ventilators and curved wings with mounted Lucas ‘King of the Road’ headlights. Not presently running and of unknown condition mechanically it has clearly had some works undertaken perhaps many decades ago and the body now bears very little paint. The interior seems quite complete and a small plate stating ‘Nicht Hinauslehnen! warns passengers not to lean out of the car. Intriguingly, the inside of the passenger door carries a large sign ‘Would patients for X-ray please wait here’! A tax disc with the car expired in September 1964 and may indicate when it was last on the road and a Pitman handbook and fuel dipstick are also present. Please note: this lot has a reduced buyer's premium of 15% plus VAT
