Furniture & Objects - A Victorian cross-banded, boxwood strung and parcel gilt mounted burr walnut Chiffonier by Gillows of Lancaster, circa 1860-70, the rear superstructure formed as twin shelves supported by scrolling fretted brackets surmounted with a pierced brass gallery, the lower section with canted corner rectangular top with ribbon tied fruiting laurel and ovolo and foliate moulded border edges above twin glazed rectangular panelled doors, the canted corner blocks with applied rectangular florette small mounts above scrolling putto terms with interlaced foliate terminals and corresponding inverted foliate strapwork bracket mounts, raised on a plinth base, the top of the right door stamped `GILLOW`," 143cm high, 131.5cm wide, 43.5 deep Condition: Generally in good condition with some minor scratches, scuffs and knocks to the surface veneers of the piece and with some small dents to the top of the cabinet commensurate with age. A finely engineered 5in gauge model of the B.R. (ex LNER) Class B1 Springbok 4-6-0 locomotive and tender ‘Stembok’ No 61032, built by Mr H Janes of Bristol to the design of Martin Evans with brazed superheated copper boiler, water and pressure gauges, safety, blower, injector, steam brake, whistle, clack and twin outside cast iron cylinders with Walschaert’s valve gear, finely fluted motion. Cab controlled draincocks and pipes, cylinder head pressure relief valve, hydrostatic lubricator, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, injector, cab controlled opening ash pan doors, reversing screw with cut-off graduations, firebox door with draught shutter, steam operated screw gear, dummy sanding gear, lubricator boxes, firebox washout plugs. The locomotive is finished in traditional green livery with the tender finished in British Railways black livery. Sundry vacuum pipes and coupling castings. 28cm wide. 168cm long. Boiler History: Past boiler history will be available for inspection at the Bristol Salerooms on view and auction days.

18th Century Oak Long Case Clock with moulded cornice, plain frieze, turned supports, long arched door on a stepped plinth base, brass dial with cast spandrel, silvered-faced with Roman numerals, inscribed "Thomas Strippling Barwell" subsidiary date aperture, 30 hour movement, striking on a bell.
TOJO HIDEKI: (1884-1948) Japanese Prime Minister 1941-44, responsible for the attack on Pearl Harbor, which led to America entering World War II. An unusual set of three original 4 x 3 photographs, each depicting different views of the barracks in which prisoners, including Tojo, were held during the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal. One of the photographs is signed by Tojo, in both English and Japanese, with his name alone to the verso.
