George IV mahogany banjo barometer, swan-neck pediment, with upturned bone finial, boxwood and ebony stringing, silvered dials, and a mirror, signed P Borini, Birmingham, 110cm.Condition report:There are lengths of stringing lacking surrounding the outline, mostly to the waisted neck. The glass to the lower signature dial is missing. The Dry/Damp dial needle has been replaced with a piece of wood. The adjustor dial (originally ivory) has been removed. The door to the back has had the hinges replaced and moved numerous times. The mercury tube has multiple air bubbles and the bob mechanism is defective.
