A burr cedar cased mantel clock with mechanism marked to back "VAP Brevete S.G.D.G" CONDITION REPORTS Overall with some wear, scuffs and chips to edges, it is not known whether complete or in working order. Size approx. 16.5 cm high x 12 cm wide x 7.75 cm deep. Movement is fixed / screwed into place at the back, and we have not removed it for inspection. Please note that we can make no guarantees as to whether or not complete, nor whether or not it is in working order. Case opens at back. There is a key present, and the hand move when turned with the key, the other winder at back turns only anticlockwise, and the mechanism does click when turned. Clock does not tick. The front of the case does not open (there is no door).
A circa 1800 mahogany cased long case clock of small proportions, the regulator movement with silvered dial and Roman numerals, with subsidiary seconds dial, anchor escapement, in a plain case, 186.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Clocksmith's comments: Movement most likely circa 1850 - 1900. Made up to fit case. Please note that we can make no guarantees as to whether movement is complete nor whether in working order. Glass and wood door to top of case are opened via a release mechanism located on the top of the clock. Movement is now removeable - please see photos for details. There is a pendulum present with brassed weight and wood shaft, although it is not known whether this is the original pendulum for the movement, or whether it is associated. Case is locked and there is no key, generally with wear and scuffs, some splits and cracks to case, some stains, dial with dirt, marks and scuffs, and hands mis-shapen, case with some separating at joins. Diameter of dial approx 19.5cm.
