Nathanael Hodges of London - a late 17th century ebony veneered table clock, with pull quarter repeat and alarm, signed to the engraved backplate Nathanael Hodges in Wine Office Court in Fleet Street, the case having an elaborate gilt brass basket top and four later ring turned finials above a 6½" square brass dial, with silvered Roman chapter ring, Arabic outer scale, centre alarm disc, winged mask spandrels and pierced blue steel fret hands, strike/not strike lever above XII, twin winding holes for a brass five-pillar twin fusee verge movement, with three bells, replacement bob pendulum, pierced back cock apron, the case sides with pierced foliate angel mask border mounts to the glazed apertures, h.33.5cm (handle down).Provenance; purchased by our vendor from Vicarage Clocks of Gloucestershire in 2015 for £11,750 Overall in good condition with the following notes;Has broken gut line so not currently running.Clock stands well.Lower cords to either side perform same action (striking one small bell each, then large bell for the hours).Top cord on left currently not functioning (possibly alarm).Finials later.Hinges to back door later.With winder and winding key.Matted centre re-gilded as are corner spandrels.Chapter ring good, probably re-silvered.Both doors have keys.
A mid-19th century gilt brass repeating carriage clock by James McCabe of Royal Exchange, London, numbered 2726, the large clock in mahogany and brass bound case with brass carry handle, the clock having three deeply bevelled glass panels, signed and numbered silvered Roman dial with subsidiary seconds dial, the glass top with push button hour repeat and showing visible platform escapement, the eight-day double chain driven fusse movement striking on a single gong, with strike/silent lever to the back, with original numbered double winding key, clock h.21cm (handle down), mahogany case h.24.5cm (excluding handle) Clock runs.Push repeat functions. Generally in excellent condition with light handling wear and some tarnishing to extremities of dial.All glass good.Case with new velvet lined interior and repair to two old splits ono door.

A late 18th century oak longcase clock - the weight driven 30 hour movement with four knopped pillars, outside countwheel strike and anchor escapement, fronted by a square brass dial signed 'Thos. Lewis' to the matted centre, with silvered Roman chapter ring with outer Arabic five minute markers, gilt brass foliate, floral and rocaille spandrels, silvered arched calendar aperture and pierced polished steel hands, the case with ogee moulded cornice and turned half columns to the hood, the trunk with Dutch arched door and quarter columns to the angles, on a plain base with plinth, 199.5cm. high.
A large late 18th century George III period mahogany writing bureau: the cleated angular fall opening to reveal fitted interior with central cupboard door concealing a carved top drawer above two compartments and two further smaller drawers below; the pigeonholes flanked with Moorish arches and above an arrangement of various further smaller drawers; four full-width graduated drawers with brass swan-neck handles (probably original); raised on bracket feet (restored). (LWH 109 x 54 x 105 cm).
A 19th century style grey painted pine linen press: the shaped cresting over a flared, moulded cornice and a pair of panelled enclosing a hanging rail, flanked by fluted muntins, over a base with two short over two long graduated drawers with painted turned handles, on bracket feet, 116 x 58.5cm, 209cm high.* Condition: Some wear to paint to edges and around handles, plus paint loss to left side of base from a piece of parcel tape. The top section is separate from the base. The base has a piece cut-out from the back corner on the right hand side, probably to clear a pipe or similar in a property. This has removed part of the drawer runner at the back. The lower drawer is missing the lining (see photo) and has a large chip to the wood to the back left. The stop blocks are missing from this drawer and the two short drawers. The right hand door is slightly warped at the top, but they still close firmly. The top section has a 3in. hole cut through the back panel at the lower left (it was used as a TV cabinet at one time). The hanging rail is still fitted to the interior however.

A 1927 BUGATTI TYPE 44. One of the first Bugatti Type 44 to be imported into the UK which was retained by Bugatti Brixton Road, as a mechanical and showroom demonstrator, shown at the Olympia show in October 1927 as an unfinished chassis/engine showcasing the new Type 44 mechanics. The first carriage built on the chassis was black with a Van Vooren Fabric WeyMann saloon body by Harrington & Sons (4 door) Images are available on the Bugatti-trust archive (see images in appendix) The car was test run at Brooklands in 1928 and featured in an article in Bugatti Revive written in 1928 by Edgar Duffield. Then registered by E.Bugatti Automobiles 1-3 Brixton Road, under registration number UC 3082, in February 1928 then used as a demonstrator and first sold to the renowned politician Sir Brograve Beauchamp in April 1929 who owned it for over 30 years. The car is sold with full history and documents. The engine is in running condition, but the car had the cable brakes removed to be replaced, unfortunately, the current vendor became too ill to see this work through. Very rare and curious instrument fitted with thirty-seven tuning forks, each connected to a board with string, perhaps for amplification, signed and inscribed twice 'Invented & Made by James Pettit, F.R.A.S., 1839' on the fascia board and to the back behind a hinged door, within a serpentine fronted stained wooden case (missing tambour front), 27" wide, 13.5" deep, 12" high - *James Pettit, F.R.A.S. (Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society), born Bedford 1774 - died 1850. This maker is recorded as having a career in music, then was employed as a clerk in the Bank of England, also was an experimenter in Optics and made some achromatic telescopes
