Late nineteenth century carriage clock with French eight day movement, no. 2384, striking on a gong, lever escapement, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, in a silver mounted tortoiseshell case with applied initial 'T' and scroll motto - 'Time Tryeth Truth', ornate swing handle, on four fluted ball feet (London 1893), 15cm overall height to handle CONDITION REPORT Upon close inspection it would appear that the movement is likely to be a replacement and probably taken from a carriage clock, as the dial behind the tortoiseshell is an enamelled rectangular plate and the platform on which the movement sits is relatively crude. Tortoiseshell is damaged to the front at 9 o'clock. Rear door is cracked and base panel has been broken and has piece missing. There are crude lead solder repairs to feet.
