Schreibtisch Josef HoffmannEntwurf für die Wiener Werkstätte 1905, Ausführung wohl Deutsche Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst Dresden-Hellerau, Ausführung in Mahagoni massiv und furniert, Beschläge aus Messing, zweiteiliger Korpus, das Unterteil mit drei Schubkästen, getragen von Pfostenfüßen mit quadratischem Querschnitt, am Boden u-förmige Verstrebung, zweitüriger Aufsatz mit facettgeschliffenen Scheiben, diese in Messing gefasst, guter Zustand mit leichten Altersspuren, ein Schlüssel vorhanden, H 115/76 x B 110 x T 68 cm.Info: Der Damenschreibtisch wurde 1906 als Bestandteil der Wohnungseinrichtung des Herrn Dr. H. Wittgenstein veröffentlicht. Er gehörte zu den ersten und erfolgreichsten Modellen, die Josef Hoffmann für die Wiener Werkstätte entworfen hatte. Eine Variante des Schreibtischs aus gebeiztem und mattiertem Mahagoniholz, mit Messingbeschlägen, wurde von den Deutschen Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst, mit Angabe des Entwerfers, verkauft. Info: The ladies' desk was built in 1906 as part of Dr. H. Wittgenstein home furnishings. It was one of the first and most successful models designed by Josef Hoffmann for the Wiener Werkstätte. A variant of the desk made of stained and matted mahogany wood with brass fittings was sold by the Deutsche Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst, with details of the designer. Info: Charles-Guillaume Diehl (1840 Steinbach / Hessen to 1885) was a German cabinet maker, carpenter and wood turner who continued the woodworking tradition of his family. Like many other German cabinet makers, Diehl set up his own workshop in Paris on Rue Michel-le-Comte in 1840. At times he employed up to 600 people. Vendor is having a clear out, and the item was too heavy for use due to age.
