A Small Brass Lantern Form Hook and Spike Alarm Wall Timepiece, signed Kefford, Royston, circa 1730, lantern form case with four posted frame, engraved pierced frets, side doors, 3-3/4-inch Roman numeral chapter ring, dial centre signed and with alarm disc, later single hand, alarm work and going train movement with a verge escapement, bob pendulum, alarm striking on a top mounted bell, 22.5cm high, with a later wall bracket see illustration 21.12.18, Brass surfaces are discoloured, possibly later frets, fret below the top finial is possibly later, possibly later side doors, one side door with handle missing, dial is dirty and discoloured, wax from the chapter ring numerals is missing, hoop and spikes are missing, escapement arbor, verge crown wheel and bob pendulum has been replaced, alarm steel lifting arm has been replaced, with four small brass cased lead weights and with a later wall bracket.

Overall in very good and original condition.No warping to doors.Approx. 27cm fine vertical split to lower left hand door panel towards bottom right corner.Approx. 6cm loss to outside edge of right hand door trim at base.Otherwise good.
