An Edwardian inlaid mahogany bedside cabinet, with serpentine rear upstand, panelled door with oval inlay and raised on tapered legs of square section. Width 43 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This cabinet is a little stained on the top surface. Other than this the condition is generally good. It is simply a little dirty.
A Victorian mahogany dumbwaiter, rectangular with rear upstand open shelf and pair of panelled cupboard doors and raised on carved feet with recessed castors. Width 130 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Depth 52 cm, height to top of upstand 107 cm, height to top of top tier 93.5 cm. The dumbwaiter is structurally sound. The gallery has a scuff to the polish and slight indentation on the top of the arch which should be visible in our image. The top surface of the dumbwaiter is not cracked but does have numerous old marks and scratches as one would expect. The moulded edge is in good condition all round. The side supports to the upper shelf are all present and in good order. The three quarter gallery to the lower shelf is in good condition also. The doors close correctly and are not warped. The left hand door has a small loss to the top right hand corner. The side supports, legs and feet are all in good condition. The backboards are original. The piece is structurally sound and there is no evidence of any woodworm. The right hand door has had a repair to the bottom right hand corner of the door frame. This is an old professional repair but is a slightly different colour to the remainder of the upright. The door as stated opens and closes as it should.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany Art Nouveau wardrobe and dressing table by Shapland & Petter, both inlaid with stylised motifs, wardrobe width including cornice 122 cm, height 210 cm, dressing table width 106.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both the wardrobe and dressing table are in generally good order. The rear left hand corner of the wardrobe cornice has a small loss. There are minor scuffs to the cornice edges also. The rear spindle gallery is in good condition. The sides of the wardrobe are in good order with no splits. The wardrobe door is not warped and closes as it should. Whilst the handle is present there is no lock. The cupboard door closes as it should, it is not warped, we have the lock and key. The inlaid panel is in good condition. The shelf below and panel back are both in good order. The drawer fronts have some minor nibbles to the edges and on the bearers between. The bottom drawer is a little stiff and has some minor old surface marks but no serious issues. The bevelled mirror is in good order. The dressing table is in generally good condition also. Below the mirror pediment surround on the right hand side there is a looser section of moulding. We have the piece. There are some minor water stains to the shelf above the shallow drawer and also one or two marks to the top dressing table surface. The front edge has some minor marks. Both drawer fronts are in good order. All legs are in good condition with no significant issues. The centre stretcher has been broken in the centre, this has been a clean break which has simply been glued back together. There is a very faint line. All handles are original. None of the doors are warped. Internal wardrobe depth 41.5 cm.
An early 19th century oak longcase clock, with painted dial and two train striking movement and with three quarter length trunk door and conforming base raised on splayed bracket feet. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is generally very clean. The only issue with the hood is that the glass is cracked. The painted dial is a little rubbed in places but is in generally reasonably good condition. We have two weights and a pendulum. We have not had the clock ticking, however if weight is applied to the going train it appears to operate. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the case are in good order. The base panel has a shrinkage crack between the two boards that form the front. The front left bracket foot is partially missing. The backboards are original.
A Scottish mahogany longcase clock by Howden of Edinburgh, with circular dial, long trunk door flanked by fluted quarter column corners, with two-train striking movement, with pendulum and weights. Height 204 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The dial diameter is 32 cm. The hood is generally very good order and of good colour. The brass bezel is original and also in good condition. The movement appears to be complete and as stated we have the pendulum and two weights. We have not had the movement running as the feather to the pendulum is missing. When weight is applied to both trains the movement does appear to strike and tick. The face has blemishes around the pillars and some paint loss. The trunk door has a minor nibble to one door point. There is also a small loss to the top left-hand corner and top right. The door is however not warped, closes as it should and locks. The sides of the case are in good condition. The base is missing part of the bottom edge moulding and the right-hand return moulding. There are some stress fractures to the sides of the base and some old marks and scratches.
A late Victorian mahogany and satinwood crossbanded mirror back display cabinet, the crossbanded edges with boxwood and ebony stringing, the glazed door housing a plush lined interior with two fixed shelves and with Florentine style inlaid decoration, all upon slender cabriole legs with pointed feet. 125 cm wide, 182 cm high, 39 cm deep.
A 19th century oak glazed bookcase on cupboard, the drawer and cupboard fronts in burr oak. Height 154 cm, width 88 cm, depth 46 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Top cupboard depth 27 cm. The internal height of the base cupboard is 66 cm from the underside edge of the moulding above the door to the base boards. The base cupboard depth is 41 cm.
A 19th century mahogany and inlaid bureau bookcase, having a swans neck and fretwork pediment with central urn finial above the glazed doors with inlaid corners enclosing adjustable shelves, above the bureau base with inlaid fall front enclosing a fitted interior of pigeon holes and drawers with central door, all above four graduated and inlaid and oak lined drawers with cast brass drop handles and oval backplates, supported upon shaped bracket feet. 91.5 cm wide, 223 cm high, 52.5 cm deep (see illustration).
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany longcase clock, with silvered brass dial and Arabic numerals and three train spring driven striking movement with long arched trunk door and raised on bracket feet. Height 201 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The hood and case are in very good condition with no significant issues. The colour is good. The trunk door is not warped and there are no significant scuffs, marks or scratches. The door to the hood is currently locked and we do not have a key. The movement is currently ticking away, we have the pendulum. The movement is spring and not weight driven therefore there are no weights. The movement is fully wound on two trains and whilst it is currently ticking away it is not striking when advanced. The silvered brass dial is dirty and the chimes silent lever is missing.
A 19th century mahogany press cupboard, with detachable moulded cornice above a pair of panelled cupboard doors opening to hanging space and with drawers beneath and flanked on either side by a panelled cupboard door, all raised on a plinth base with short turned legs. Height 200 cm, width 178 cm.
A Victorian walnut secretaire cabinet on chest, with moulded cornice above a pair of panelled doors enclosing a series of pigeonholes, drawers and cupboards, the bottom right hand drawer fitted for writing implements and with slide beneath, the base with three graduated drawers with brass drop handles and all raised on bracket feet. Height 164 cm, width 110 cm, depth 45 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in generally good condition. The cornice is in good order all round. The doors show no significant warping and remain closed when shut. The lock is present but we do not have the key. The left hand side of the top has some stress fractures to the veneers and losses along the bottom edge. There is a section of timber detached to the rear left at the side but we do have the detached piece. The right hand side is in better condition. The interior cupboards and drawers are in generally good order. The third drawer up from the left hand side has a missing section of edge moulding. The first small drawer on the right hand side has a piece of the moulding detached but we have this section. The centre cupboard door has a missing section of plain moulding at top right and the left hand door a missing section bottom left. Each upper pigeonhole has a sliding lead mounted oak section. We are not sure why this would be lead lined. The tooled leather writing surface has several scuffs and marks. The base drawer fronts are in generally good order. The handles are not original and are slightly larger that the originals will have been. There are no visible extra handle holes when viewed from the front. We have now found the upper door key which does operate. The sides of the base are in good order as are the bracket feet.
A Victorian boulle marquetry breakfront credenza, three door, with velvet lined shelves. Height 113.5 cm, length 183 cm, depth 40 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This cabinet is in extremely good order. The boulle marquetry has no significant lifting and minimal areas of loss. The doors are not warped. We have the key. There are no splits to the top or sides and again only minimal lifting to the brass stringing. All mounts and metalwork are present. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
A George II oak longcase clock circa 1751-5, with thirty hour movement by Richard Stephen, Bridgnorth, with 10" dial and single pointer and housed in a later but stylistically correct case. Height 193.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in generally extremely good condition. We have the weight and pendulum and it is currently ticking away as it should. The movement is clean. The dial is in good order. The case is in extremely good condition with no issues. The door is not warped and we have the lock and key.
Two 19th century mahogany bedside cabinets, each with single door and raised on moulded legs. Widest 36.5 cm, tallest 79 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The darker of the two cabinets with the carrying recesses is structurally sound. The gallery is in good condition all round. The top has a full width open crack. The door has a full width seam crack which should be visible on our image. There are some nibbles around the handle side of the door on the inside edge of the leg. All side panels are in good condition. The legs have not had any repair and are in good order also. In our opinion the colour is good. The second cabinet has slight undulation to the top surface and several stress fractures to the top panel. The gallery is in good condition all round. The door is not warped. There are nibbles to the left hand side of the handle where the door keeper has hit the inside edge of the leg. The side and back panels are in good order. The piece is structurally sound and there are no issues with the legs. The colour is lighter than the other cabinet and the piece in our opinion is a little faded. Height of lowest 76.5 cm.
A Victorian walnut music pedestal cabinet, with moulded edge and rounded corners above a single door opening to a series of labelled sliding drawers with apertures beneath. Width 50 cm, height 104.5 cm, depth 39 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is structurally sound with no significant condition issues. The colour is good with only very minor marks and blemishes to the veneers. The door closes as it should and is not warped. The interior is in generally good order with no missing sections. The backboards are original and the plinth is in good order.
A Regency style mahogany cabinet, crossbanded and with single frieze drawer above a pair of cupboard doors with brass grilles flanked by columns with Egyptian inspired mounts. Width 87 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in structurally good order. The top is flat with no splits. There is some fading to the polish particularly to the right hand crossbanded edge. The drawer has lifting veneer on the left hand side and some overstaining where there is a small veneer loss above the left hand handle and to the left of the centre tablet. There is a repair to the top right hand corner of the left door. The doors close as they should and are not warped. There is a minor veneer nibble to the top left hand corner of the left hand door to the right of the brass head. The sides of the piece have minor blemishes and scratches but no significant problems. The back hardboard panel has been drilled to accommodate wires and is in poor condition.
A Victorian walnut bedside cabinet, with single panelled door and plinth base. Width 40 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in generally good order. The top is well figured and in good condition. The moulded edge is good all round. The door is of good colour and closes as it should. There is no warping. The plinth base is in good condition all round. The backboards are original.
An antique oak dresser base with Delft rack above, fitted with three drawers and two arched panelled cupboard doors, all raised on bracket feet. Width 125 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The left and right hand return cornice mouldings are both missing. Both rack mounts have end losses. The top of the base has shrinkage cracks between the planks. The panelled sides are in generally good order. The drawer fronts have minor edge nibbles. The left hand bottom door has a repair top left and bottom left. The door is a little loose. The backboards and floorboards appear to be original. The front left hand foot bracket is detached but we have the piece.
A Victorian mahogany cylindrical bedside cabinet, with marble top and plinth base. Diameter 38 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cupboard is in generally good condition with no significant issues. There are no cracks to the marble. The surround has had some old stress fractures and minor repairs over the years but is flat with no gaps. There are very minor traces of old long gone woodworm (+/- 12 holes on the top circumference). The panelled door has minor old stress fractures and some nibbles to the veneers. The plinth base is in good condition with one old repair. The interior shelf is present. The door is not warped.
A George III oak hanging corner cupboard, with bats wing inlaid circular medallions. Width 94 cm, height 122 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 122.5 cm. Maximum width 93 cm. Maximum depth 56 cm. The cornice is in good condition all round as is the crossbanded frieze. The doors are not warped and close correctly. We have the lock and key. The lock operates. There are no significant problems with the door fronts or canted angles. The piece has only the usual minor marks that one would expect commensurate with age. The piece does not have any drawers. The hinges are in good order with no movement.
