**Please note the registration number of this car is XCA 955K as per the photographs, not XCA 995K as erroneously catalogued.** A beautifully restored B Roadster, thoughtfully upgraded and presenting well - offered at No Reserve. Introduced in 1962, the MG B Roadster enjoyed an 18-year production run. With nicely balanced handling and a good turn of speed, it merited the old MG marketing slogan 'Safety Fast'. Based around a monocoque chassis featuring independent coil-sprung front suspension and a leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle, its 1,798cc B series four-cylinder engine was allied to a 4-speed manual transmission. Capable of over 100mph, the provision of front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering greatly aided control.First registered on 4th April 1972, towards the end of Mk II production, XCA 995K displays 84,900 recorded and credible miles and has been enjoyed by just six former keepers since 1972. It was the subject of an extensive bodywork restoration and paint in the early 2000s, with many receipts from The Welsh MG Centre and Moss Europe that document the purchase of new front wings, a new fuel tank, bumper parts and grille pieces (to name just a few items) since 2001. Finished in gleaming British Racing Green and sitting on chrome wires, the refurbishment was obviously carried to an excellent standard as the B still presents beautifully. The car also benefits from a Kenlowe fan, electronic ignition and is fitted with overdrive. Inside, the cockpit has been freshened with an aftermarket Burr Walnut-effect dashboard trim and complementing it all is a set of cream leather MG F seats with cream door cards and matching carpets. It's supplied with the aforementioned invoices, old MOT Certificates and related MOT garage test invoices, its V5C and the normal manuals etc.People can be a bit dismissive about MG Bs, possibly because there are so many around, but they are handsome, affordable classics that go and handle well, and with the top down on a summer's day, represent all that we love about British sports cars, particularly when they look this good.SpecificationMake: MGModel: B ROADSTERYear: 1972Chassis Number: GHN52748279Registration Number: XCA 995KTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 84900 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Cream leatherClick here for more details and images

Brightly presented, versatile Series III County Safari with celebrity provenance and on offer at No Reserve. This attractive 1983 Series III 'County' spec diesel Station Wagon with the desirable Safari top was originally registered in December 1983. This was towards the end of Series III production and consequently it would have benefitted from the 1982 facelift which included all-new cloth seats, soundproofing kits, tinted glass and other 'soft' options designed to appeal to the leisure owner/user.A previous owner invested in a full refurbishment some years ago and the work included a cylinder head overhaul to enable the use of unleaded, all the engine ancillaries were either replaced or renewed including new carburettors, new battery and radiator, the transmission was rebuilt, the suspension, brakes and all steering parts were also renewed whilst the original body was stripped, a new rear wing and door skin fitted and completely repainted. It now presents wonderfully in Masai Red with a Limestone Safari roof and classic limestone steel wheels and the County Grey cloth on the seats appears excellent. The practical seat configuration of this iconic car consists of three individual seats in the front and four inwards facing fold away seats in the rear which are equally adept at taking friends to the pub for a pint or transporting livestock should you need. This flexibility appealed to our vendor, the well-known singer/songwriter and classic car enthusiast, Jay Kay, who has used it over recent years whilst at his holiday home for taking the kids to the beach and the kind of things that Land Rovers do best. With comparatively low-mileage of just 59,600, this is an economical, totally reliable and versatile Series Land Rover, enhanced by its Safari Roof and perhaps by a little celebrity provenance. On offer at No Reserve, we look forward to your interest.Specification Make: LAND ROVER Model: SERIES III Year: 1983 Chassis Number: SALLBABH1BA201506 Registration Number: A693 KVM Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 36136078 Odometer Reading: 59632 Miles Make: Interior Colour: County Grey ClothClick here for more details and images

An interesting Jaguar E-Type 3.8 FHC project from almost 50-year single ownership. This Series I, right-hand drive, 3.8 FHC was originally finished in Carmen Red with a black leather interior and is on offer from a Deceased Estate with single ownership that covers almost 50 years. Paperwork within the history file, dated 1980/81, lists a complete body and engine rebuild, a new bonnet assembly, new door skins, new floor pans, a suspension rebuild and much more, and the mileage, at that point, was 67,625. It was obviously used lightly after that, as the current indicated mileage is just over 74,000.By 2010, however, it was obviously in need of a refresh, and work commenced but was never completed. We understand that work included fresh paint, refinished chrome and works to the engine which is free and in running order. The Jaguar is believed to have stood for a period of ten years since these works were carried out, and it's evident that further recommissioning and future investment will be required, dependent on what level of finish is decided upon, offering real potential to its next custodian. It is suggested that your early inspection prior to purchase is encouraged and welcomed to fully understand what additional work will be required to return this Series I to top form. Whilst the paintwork finish is not glamorous, it may not take much to return the car to the road to be used whilst a full restoration is being considered, and it could represent a very affordable entry into E-Type ownership.Specification Make: JAGUAR Model: E TYPE 3.8 FHC Year: 1964 Chassis Number: 861261 Registration Number: 127 KNX Transmission: Manual Engine Number: TBA Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 74170 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 109

Fully rebuilt with a new chassis and extensively upgraded, this Series IIA is really rather special. Dating from April 1966, George is a Series IIA that has been fully restored and upgraded in current ownership since 2014. The 'story of George' runs to several thousand words, far too much to even paraphrase here, but our consignor, Stacey will be happy to send interested parties a copy of this charming story by email.A small extract in our vendor’s words;'I needed something that would keep me more active than normal, so my wife gave me the green light to find a classic Land Rover, but she had one condition that it must have the headlights in the centre panel. For me, I added that I wanted a petrol engine and SWB and that was it, so other than these requirements I really didn’t have a clue what to look for. So the search began, mainly looking around Ebay, I did see a couple of vehicles around my budget and then I spotted George, he was taxed and MOT’d for six months which meant I could run him and get an idea of what needed doing.A few days later, I made the train journey down to Evesham to collect George with the intention of driving back to Stoke, and made sure I had sufficient tools to cover any basic repairs should any issues come up during the drive back. When I arrived, George was standing on the drive in all his glory, he’d already been fitted with parabolic springs and Koni shocks some time back by a previous owner, the door tops were pretty much shot but usable for now, they would need replacing along with the rear tail gate and cat flap which had been joined together to make a type of safari door – not nice for sure. The sale was agreed and the journey home commenced. George was running a Weber Carburettor which was being a little temperamental on the journey home, but after a few tweaks it calmed down and the rest of the trip was relatively pain free – well as best you can expect from a Land Rover. Once home I had time to make a full assessment of what I needed to replaced right away to use up the remaining six months of Tax and MOT, during this time I could plan my re-build, it was always my intention to replace the chassis and I think after the strip down I was justified in that decision.'The rest of the story is hugely detailed and fascinating. We recommend for anyone interested to come and view George in all his glory - the handsome, restored example of the rugged and iconic 4 x 4, presenting in excellent condition throughout, making the perfect usable off-road companion, a brilliant show car or a charming addition to any collection, and these are just some of the reasons why George is so special.Standard components – either restored or replaced:Chassis – replaced in February 2015 using a Richards Replica Chassis Suffix CEngine – original engine correct date, short block refurbished +0.40 pistons, standard crank (bearings replaced) and cam, timing chain, oil pump, water pump and petrol pump all replaced.Axle – both front and rear are originals and date correct 1966 – Refurbished using nylon coating. The 300 marked a post-war return to Mercedes-Benz tradition of building high-performance, luxury automobiles of the highest quality. Daimler-Benz AG emerged from the smoking rubble of World War II in somewhat precarious health, with production plants that had been pretty comprehensively levelled by Allied bombing. Far from being a broken nation, the resilience of the workforce was remarkable, and Mercedes-Benz resumed car production in 1946, albeit with the pre-war 170V, a modest middle-class car that had been their best-seller in the 1930s. However, in less than six years, the company was sufficiently confident to return to the luxury market when the Mercedes 300 was introduced at the 1951 Frankfurt Motor Show, and for the duration of the 1950s, Mercedes-Benz prestige line-up was based on the 300 range, at the heart of which was essentially the same superb 2,996cc overhead-camshaft six-cylinder engine found in the legendary 300SL 'Gullwing'. The 300 Saloon was aimed squarely at Captains of Industry and Heads of State - indeed, the model was nicknamed 'Adenauer' after Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. In office from 1949 to 1963, he employed six custom convertible, hardtop, and landaulet versions during his tenure. Inside, the 300 was beautifully executed in polished wood, with deep bucket seats trimmed in either cloth or leather, and a division was available as an option for those who preferred to be chauffeur driven. Improvements came with the 300B of 1954 in the form of twin Solex carburettors, along with servo-assisted brakes and minor styling changes, while the 300C model of September 1955 saw the option of a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic for the American market. Introduced in August 1957, the 300D was the linear successor to the 300C, with a longer wheelbase, fuel injection, and unique hardtop configuration transforming it into a pillarless 'Phaeton'. An additional 4" of wheelbase provided greater rear legroom, equalling that of the long wheelbase Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Removable rear quarter-lights allowed an unobstructed view in and out from the front vent window all the way to the back, much valued in the model's popular role as a 'parade car'. Employing a slightly detuned version of the 300 SL sports cars Bosch fuel-injected engine, the 300D produced 180bhp at 5,500rpm. Lot 127

Superbly restored, a very well-presented example of one of Chapman’s earliest designs. The Elite Type 14 was Colin Chapman’s first production sports car that he designed for Lotus Cars, debuting in 1957. Lotus' design philosophy ran contrary to the prevailing norm, making their cars lighter, more aerodynamic and therefore more nimble, rather than increasing horsepower and weight enabling Lotus cars to outmanoeuvre much more powerful vehicles on track. It was very light, weighing just 630kg utilising a monocoque construction which meant there was no separate chassis, the body was load-bearing, and whilst this was becoming accepted practice, the Elite was the first time it had been constructed in glass-fibre. There were only two strips of steel in the car — a strip for the door hinges to attach to and a very small steel frame to which the engine and suspension were attached. When combined with independent sporty suspension, a ZF gearbox, disc brakes, a Coventry Climax all-aluminium engine and a very low drag coefficient of just 0.29, it made for a great drivers car, so much so that by production end in 1963 over 1,000 had been produced. The Elite was very expensive to produce - especially the GRP monocoque which was extremely labour-intensive (the first 280 were built by Maximar then production switched to Bristol Aircraft who built a further 760+ cars). It is estimated that Colin Chapman lost c.£100 on each Elite, so there was a backwards switch to a separate steel backbone chassis for the successor Elan, making it much cheaper to build.Offered here is very special Elite SE, presented in the wonderful period-correct Primrose Yellow with a silver metallic roof, matching Jim Clark’s road car. It's the higher performance, 85bhp factory variant (SE) which initially came fitted with twin SU carburettors, a fabricated exhaust system, the ZF Gearbox and Lucas PL700 headlamps.Purchased new in 1962 by Viscount Gough, it was subject to a complete 'last nut and bolt' restoration by the previous owner, who was meticulous in his attention to detail. In 2005, the bodywork was stripped back to the gel coat, all traces of repairs, stress cracks, and damage were removed and repaired using glass fibre only. The entire car was then re-spayed by Proline Paint, GRP specialists, costing in excess of £8,000, and all the lights were replaced with new-old-stock Lucas items. The interior is finished in black with grey carpet, the seats having been re-trimmed by a local ex-Aston Martin trimmer in black leather and the correct Irvin black seat belts were retained as was the original instrumentation, wood-rim steering wheel and its original Snail Brand tool kit and jack.Mechanically, the engine has been fully re-built up to FWB specification with a capacity of 1,460cc, using new components supplied by the premier Coventry Climax Engines specialist. These include a new-old-stock Coventry Climax crankshaft; Carrillo con-rods; new pistons; alloy five-bearing cam carrier; high-lift camshaft; new water and oil pumps; high-torque starter motor; re-cored radiator; thermostatically controlled Kenlowe electric cooling fan; new cast inlet manifold; and refurbished Weber DCOE 18 carburettors. In addition, the cylinder head has been fully ported, gas-flowed and rebuilt with larger inlet and exhaust valves. Having been fully balanced, it's not subject to the usual vibrations and shudders of an Elite. The engine will now safely rev to 7,000rpm plus, and should develop 120-125bhp.Standard fitment was a 4-speed MG gearbox with the highly sought after ZF all-synchro box offered, as an option on S2 models, but was part of the SE package. One of the drawbacks of the MG transmission was that it was low geared (standard rear axle ratio of 4.22:1 plus a direct fourth gear) meaning that the engine ran at quite high revs when cruising. This led to the development of a 5-speed Type-9 conversion – greatly improving driveability with its 'overdrive' fifth gear. This is all achieved without any modifications to the monocoque - so is completely reversible and vastly improves the driving experience. '905 FWB' is fitted with a Type 9 5-speed gearbox complete with a new clutch cover and drive plate. New bearings and universal joints were fitted throughout, and the 4.22:1 differential fully rebuilt, while the new 60-spoke wire wheels were fitted with period-correct Pirelli Cinturato tyres. In 2014, the suspension was replaced in its entirety by Tolman Motorsport. The original rear wishbones utilised a 'rubber ball' type location at the inboard end which can wear prematurely leading to instability caused by unwanted changes in toe angle. This Elite had the rear wishbones converted to rose joints in place of the 'ball & socket' arrangement, along with the Tolman Motorsport adjustable suspension set-up.Despite being MOT exempt, our vendor put the car through a voluntary MOT which it passed with no advisories, valid until 8th October 2024.Built in very small numbers (circa 1,040), and presenting in fabulous condition, this very well-sorted Elite is a delightful example. Having seen a full restoration with intelligent upgrades, this is certainly a car that Chapman would be proud to bear his name.Specification Make: LOTUS Model: ELITE SE Year: 1962 Chassis Number: EB2181718 Registration Number: 905 FWB Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 11977 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 64742 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

The desirable RS2000 Custom, fully restored by a renowned RS specialist and superbly presented in Signal Amber. It was back in 1970 that Ford introduced their Rally Sport models - the RS range. Originally designed as a way of building limited numbers of homologation specials for serious competition use, it soon grew into a major marketing opportunity, and one that Ford grabbed with both hands. By 1976, when the RS2000 Mk2 was launched, the term 'RS' had grown to mean something a bit special. In late 1978, the Custom Pack became an option and included the following; 'Fishnet' Recaro seats, full door-cards, clock and pod centre console, 6J x 13" alloys, boot carpet, remote driver’s door mirror and the back panel around the rear lights was painted black. Most recently it's had a new head gasket, water pump, thermostat and a full service.  A new clutch was fitted in August and the rear axle overhauled. This striking RS2000 is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT Year: 1979 Chassis Number: GCATWD00972 Registration Number: GWC 90T Transmission: Manual Engine Number: WD00972 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 82607 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

Remarkably original example of the rightly idolised whale-tail 'Cossie', on offer from passionate, 32-year, enthusiast ownership. At its introduction in 1982, the Sierra's revolutionary new shape proved a touch more divisive than Ford had anticipated and some serious marketing became a priority, so it was the obvious choice to become the platform for Ford's new competition aspirations in conjunction with Cosworth. It fitted the brief well as it was rear-wheel drive, had good aerodynamics, albeit being prone to lift at high speeds, and was available as a three-door. The new body kit and rear spoiler would sort out the lift issues but, more importantly, Ford still needed to build 5,000 units for homologation, somewhat worrying when the company's initial approach to the dealer network came back with an estimate that suggested they could sell around 1,500 units! The eventual sales record is, of course, history. Ford went on to sell 5,545 three-door cars including the RS500, of which only 500 were built, and the Cosworth engine also found its way into nearly 30,000 Ford Sierra Saloons (Cosworth three-door, Sapphire two-wheel drive, and four-wheel drive). This cherished example was first registered on 24th November 1986 and the car was subsequently sold twice in its first four years before being purchased by our enthusiast vendor, a Ford employee at the time, who has loved, cherished and maintained the car since then. Equally as impressive as the 32-year ownership is the low and warranted mileage of just 27,715, corroborated by older MOTs and service stamps in the dealer service record. Finished in Ford Motorsport Diamond White with the infamous grey cloth interior, the car presents impeccably well cosmetically and mechanically and remains in truly remarkable original condition. Many cars represent part of the family, and as a Ford technician at the time, and remaining a Ford enthusiast, it is undeniably fantastic to see such a well-maintained example, retaining its totally original specification and held on to the car for all these years, not because of any potential gain, but purely out of the love for this Cosworth. It is an incredibly special car that has always lived in the garage, being maintained and kept as pristine as possible. The car is complemented by a good history file containing the all-important original service book, service schedule and invoices for parts over the years, as well as a selection of old MOTs. Pleasingly correct and immaculately presented, this RS Cosworth comes with all the correct documentation, an impressive history file and the kudos of its FoMoCo heritage. So seldom seen in such fabulous condition with such impressive originality and a wonderful ownership story, this is one of the finest Sierra Cosworths to come to market in recent times. We are privileged to have been asked to sell a number of these ever-popular performance saloons cars and feel that, given this car’s history, low-mileage and fabulous condition, this 'Cossie' is very sensibly guided.Specification Make: FORD Model: SIERRA RS COSWORTH Year: 1986 Chassis Number: WF0EXXGBBEGB46439 Registration Number: D264 DPF Transmission: Manual Engine Number: GB46439 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 27500 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Grey Charcoal ClothClick here for more details and images

One of just 78 examples of the Rouse Sport 304R featuring a bespoke Sport Package developed by Andy Rouse Engineering. Just 78 Rouse Sport 304Rs were produced, with only a small percentage of those thought to still exist today, making it a rare and increasingly desirable member of the Performance Ford family. The Sports Package was developed by Andy Rouse in conjunction with Ford Motor Company to provide further depth to the Ford Cosworth range, and consisted of the body kit/aero pack with a body coloured 'C' pillar, a smaller Garrett T25 Turbo and remapped ECU providing a further 40bhp, plus slightly larger tyres and an upgraded interior including Rouse seats and door cards with optional mahogany accents. At an additional cost of £4,500 plus VAT, this was not a cheap option at the time, probably dictating why so few were produced.First registered on 18th December 1990, this exceptional one-owner Sapphire Cosworth Rouse Sport 304R, No. 045/100, is thought to be one of the rarest Cosworths to still exist. Finished in its original shade of Moonstone Blue with Raven hide, it was supplied by Peacocks of Balham to the current owner. With a comprehensive restoration having been carried out by Chariots of East Sussex between 2009 and 2013, including a full engine rebuild by Julian Godfrey, the Cosworth Specialist, and with minimal use since, the overall condition remains outstanding with our fastidious vendor recently returning the vehicle to Chariots for a full health check prior to being offered for sale. It should also be noted that the registration number TIA 428 was assigned at date of first registration and will remain with the vehicle when title passes to a new custodian. It's accompanied by a comprehensive history file containing the original purchase invoice, original book pack and various other invoices. This largely ignored Cosworth model has recently come back to the attention of Ford aficionados with interest reignited and desirability increasing at a pace. With so few still in existence, and even less in this condition, this particular 304R is certainly worthy of a place in any serious Blue Oval collection. More hyped than any production car we can remember and currently unavailable in the UK, this Platinum White Circuit Pack car has covered just over 3,500 miles. When Toyota decided that they wanted their many years of success in International Rallying to continue, the initial problem was selecting a model that was going to be competitive in coming years. The regulations that govern WRC rallying dictate that your car has to be based on an existing road car, a process known as ‘homologation’, and although your rally car can deviate from the road formula in many areas, in most key ones it can’t. In the past, manufacturers were able to get around this because the regs didn’t insist on too many road-going versions, maybe 2,000 or even less, however that figure is now 25,000. Few manufacturers would even countenance building 25,000 seriously focussed rally cars and hope to find homes for them, but Toyota, always up for a challenge, did just that. Based on their successful little Yaris, and developed alongside their Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, the GR Yaris made its debut in late 2020.This technological miracle may look like a Yaris but the similarities are few and far between. The roof is carbon fibre saving 3.5kg, the door skins, bonnet and tailgate are aluminium, removing another 24kg and the front half of the chassis is Yaris but the rear is adapted from the Corolla and CH-R. It has the Yaris’ 2,560mm wheelbase, its light clusters, door mirrors and roof fin but that’s about it. Under the bonnet is the world’s most powerful production three-cylinder engine, a 1.6-litre with 257bhp and 266lb/ft. It features a unique block, bespoke pistons and a single-scroll, ball-bearing turbo to reduce weight with the engine itself being hydraulically mounted on one side to reduce vibration and unwanted movement. All cars were fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a remarkably light, four-wheel drive system with an aluminium central transfer case and Sport and Track Modes. At the rear, there’s an electronically-controlled clutch pack to divide torque between the wheels. When new, the GR Yaris was available with a Convenience Pack or, as here, the Circuit Pack (£3,500) designed for drivers who want the ultimate in handling response and precision. This option included lightweight 18'' BBS forged alloys, retuned suspension, mechanical front and rear Torsen diffs, red brake calipers and Michelin Pilot 4S tyres.Finished in Platinum White Pearl and fitted from new with the Circuit Pack option, this is a UK-supplied GR that’s being offered from its first owner, Iconic Auctioneers Chairman, Nick Whale. With decades of competition experience and much success both on the circuit and in European rallying in a huge variety of cars, Nick's judgement is pretty sound on a car's qualities and, in his opinion, the little GR Yaris is one of the most exciting, adrenaline-generating, addictive performance saloons he's ever driven.Just 3,500 miles were showing on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, and the car is in the sort of condition that you might expect considering its tiny mileage and fastidious ownership. Original panels, original paint and essentially unmarked. Being offered at a very sensible and tempting guide price, this is a true modern-day ‘homologation special’, yet effortless everyday transport and currently, undoubtedly 'super cool'.Specification Make: TOYOTA Model: GR YARIS Year: 2022 Chassis Number: JTDAF4E330A021187 Registration Number: RE72WRO Transmission: Manual Engine Number: G160032431 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

An exceptional example of the 5-litre R107 with just 65,200 miles from new and a detailed ownership and service history from ‘Day One’. Offered with No Reserve. This delightful Mercedes-Benz 500SL, finished in Smoke Silver with black leather, dates from early 1986 and was initially supplied by Glen Henderson, (Stuggart) Ltd. to Archer Car Sales in Airdrie, and onwards to its first owner, Phillips Electrical Ltd., on 14th February of that year for the use of one of their directors. It subsequently passed to Island Publishing Ltd. to be enjoyed by Peter Van De Rey, who was Dutch but lived in England. Throughout this period, according to the service records, it was looked after by Mercedes Dealers, and serviced at 701, 5,976, 11,901, 17,642, 24,632 and 30,716 miles. At this point, it continued its life in the world of media and music, being purchased by A-Z Music Services at around 35,000 miles for Patrick Prendergast. Once again, the maintenance record is continuous with attention from Alan Day, Mercedes and Cairnmead BMW with invoices on file. In 1996, Mr Prendergast offered the car to a friend, Steve Fernie of Cold Harbour Recording, who later transferred the registration into his own name in 1998. He retained the car for 14 years but it was little used, covering only a few thousand miles, but was started often, had regular oil changes and was looked after by M-B specialist, Derrick Wells. The car was purchased by our vendor in April 2010 to add to his collection of SL Mercedes. He bought it primarily because of its condition but nevertheless sent it to a marque specialist to check for any rust, including the important bulkhead area. Although generally very good, our vendor is particularly fastidious and decided to have the car stripped and resprayed, refurbish the wheels, fit new tyres, replace the heater fan unit and carry out various other small works. When it was complete, it was sent to D Class Automotive who fitted a replacement hood and replaced the door, hood and other seals - a time-consuming job.Since then it has remained in his SL Collection and used sparingly during the summer months. Over the years, that use has decreased, so the decision was taken to sell it and it was entrusted to Pentangle Mercedes in April of this year for a pre-sale recommission. The account for this amounted to £2,526.87, bringing our vendor’s total investment during his ownership to £13,851.47. These invoices are in the history file alongside others from previous ownership. The file also contains 15 MOT Certificates corroborating the indicated mileage, the service record, Owners Manual, electric aerial instructions and the usual dealer-supplied book pack. It even retains its original First Aid kit, warning triangle, jack and tool roll. The Cherished Registration Number C22 JDS will remain on the car. This is an exceptional example of the 5-litre R107 with just 65,200 miles from new and a detailed ownership and service history from day one. Finished in special order Sunrise over Barley and Autumn Hides. Delectable with full Bentley History The Bentley Arnage was launched in 1998, replacing the Bentley Turbo which had offered sterling service for many years. Built by Bentley Motors in Crewe from 1998 to 2009, the Arnage and its Rolls-Royce sibling, the Silver Seraph, were introduced in the Spring of 1998 and were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980, when the Silver Spirit and Mulsanne models had been introduced. The new Arnage was designed to be powered by a new state-of-the-art BMW V8 engine with Cosworth-engineered twin-turbochargers and was designated the Arnage Green Label. The Arnage Red Label was launched in October 1999 and, for a number of reasons, reverted back to Bentley power using the traditional V8 engine, with a displacement of 6,750cc.Finished in special order Sunrise with Barley and secondary Autumn Hide, this exceptional Arnage stands out from the crowd, not simply due to the stunning colour scheme but also its overall stunning condition. It was first registered in January 2000 with the Cherished Registration Number, BH 4 (no longer assigned). The extensive specification points towards a fastidious owner with many of the extra boxes ticked upon ordering, such as the Burr Walnut interior complemented by the discreet 'Flying Bs', the picnic tables, the matching veneered door panels, the extended seat runners, rear companion mirrors, rear hand straps, the tilt and slide sunroof and the Lambswool over-mats, with final touches such as the silver hip flask and four glasses, creating an air of elegance that only a Bentley can provide. Even the dual umbrellas, specified from new, still reside in the luggage compartment. Externally, the chrome grille, waist-rail motifs and fine-line detailing are subtle, yet lift the overall appearance without being obtrusive. It has just been serviced by Bentley Leicester and provided with a fresh MOT confirming the outstanding condition and continued fastidious ownership. The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 sits at the pinnacle of the World’s performance saloons, offering 592bhp, dynamic agility and all-wheel drive traction. With just 106 miles from new, this superbly presented, fully-specified example represents a very rare opportunity. The second Collector’s Edition by SVO, following the successful F-Type Project 7 of 2014, Project 8 is a hand-built four-door saloon with supercar performance – designed to thrill driving enthusiasts with an extraordinary combination of explosive power, dynamic agility, and all-wheel drive traction. To ensure exclusivity, just 300 examples were built, each assembled at SVO’s Technical Centre in Coventry. The car is powered by the most highly-tuned version of Jaguar Land Rover’s 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol powertrain featuring a Titanium Variable Active Exhaust and offering 600PS (592bhp) and 516lb/ft of torque complemented by Jaguar’s All-Wheel Drive system and motorsport-derived aerodynamics to deliver a 200mph top speed and 0-60mph in a remarkable 3.3 seconds, making Project 8 the fastest accelerating Jaguar road car yet.Based upon the entry-level Jaguar XE Saloon, the Project 8 was conceived by Jaguar to be 'the most extreme performance Jaguar ever created'. Remarkable performance from the 493bhp supercharged V8, a folding hardtop, classic looks, outstanding specification and just 29,000 miles from new. Released in 2002 following five years of development, the R230 series SL Roadster was a high-performance luxury convertible produced between 2002 and 2008 representing a harmonious blend of opulence and power. Painstakingly modelled on a state-of-the-art supercomputer which enabled the designers to analyse every curve and line, it looked utterly sensational with an air of barely contained aggression that gave it huge road presence. Packed full of sophisticated electronic driver aids which made it immensely safe but still fun to drive, it was an instant success and is widely considered to be the best-looking Mercedes for many years. It remains an iconic symbol of Mercedes' commitment to combining luxury and performance, appealing to those who seek the best of both worlds in a grand tourer. In late 2003, the stunning SL55 AMG was introduced causing shockwaves in the early-2000s performance car market with near-supercar levels of acceleration and handling, packaged in a comfortable, elegant convertible geared towards touring capability. Seriously powerful and impressively fast, the supercharged 5.4-litre V8 was rated at 493bhp with a stump-pulling 520 lbs.ft of torque. The cars were fitted with an uprated 5-speed automatic featuring AMG's 'Speedshift', and there were a number of trim differences including uprated seats and the SL55 sat on a set of striking, multi-spoke AMG alloys.First registered on the 09/06/2003, this SL55 is finished in Obsidian Black over Exclusive Black and Anthracite Leather punctuated by ‘AMG aluminium’ inlays on the door cards and centre console. Lot 166

This stunning R-Type was bodied in Aluminium by E.D. Abbott of Farnham in 'Continental' style. Only a handful were created, and offer fabulous styling for a fraction of the cost of the celebrated Fastback Continental. In June 1952, Bentley’s new R-Type was presented to the public and it owed its name to the fact that the VI Series had, by this time, reached the chassis letter 'R'. The new model continued to utilise the MkVI’s independent front suspension, hydraulic front brakes and six-cylinder 'F-head' power unit, by now extended to 4,566cc. The standard R-Type was a lively performer, achieving 106mph in silence and reached 50mph from standstill in ten seconds, despite a curb weight approaching two tonnes. As usual, the R-Type could be ordered in chassis form for bodying by specialist coachbuilders, and this manual transmission example was the work of E.D. Abbott of Farnham, Surrey. The stylish, streamlined, Continental-style fastback coupé coachwork, designed by Abbott's stylist, Peter Woodgate, had been intended for the superseded MkVI chassis and bore more than a passing resemblance to H J Mulliner's contemporary Bentley Continental. After two prototypes had been completed, Abbott bodied 14 'production' cars, this example being the first. Of the remaining 13, one was fitted with automatic transmission and one was built with left-hand drive. We understand that this example was sold new to The Earl of Sefton, bodied in Aluminium and presented as a two-door ‘Continental’ style coupé in Ascot Grey.OYE 700 is accompanied by a fascinating history file which contains a list of previous owners, confirming that the car’s first owner was indeed the Rt. Hon. Earl of Sefton at Croxteth Hall. In 1968 it became the property of Richard Clover from Worcester and, ten years later, it was registered to the Midland Record Company (Peter John Riley). Jeremy Pemberton of Yellowhammer PLC acquired the Bentley in 1990 before selling it in 2004 to specialists dealers Frank Dale and Stepsons who, according to invoices in the file, carried out quite a lot of work on the car. A Michael Percival is listed as owning the car in 2004 with Eric Adkins in 2005, prior to Mr and Mrs Silverstone, also in 2005. The famous car-collecting dentist, Dr James Hull, added it to his Collection in late 2009 and, naturally, it moved to a previous vendor’s significant Collection around 2012 when Dr Hull sold everything. There are a number of older invoices with the car and it appears that by 1985, whilst in Peter Riley’s custodianship, the Bentley was looking a little sad. A.B.Price, Automobile Engineers of Studley provided an 'estimate' dated 4th February 1985 for 'totally stripping coachwork, rebuilding corroded and damaged panelwork, re-cellulosing the car, replacing wood frame in body structure, completely refitting the interior woodwork and reassembling all fittings etc'. The estimate totalled £14,338. Invoices over the next 18 months totalled over £20,000 from A.B.Price and detail the work completed. Later invoices over the years from Frank Dale & Stepsons and Hillier Hill detail subsequent maintenance and repairs, with the most recent one dated 8th October 2011, recording the odometer reading of 50,572 miles. The history file also contains a number of old V5s, a dozen older MOTs, lots of correspondence, the original ‘buff’ logbook, its R-Type Bentley Handbook, an article by Bill Medcalf entitled 'R-Type Continentals' and a booklet titled ‘Twenty Years of Crewe Bentleys’. There is also a letter from Bentley confirming that, should the opportunity arise, they would be delighted to display OYE 700 at the factory as part of 'The Bentley Experience'.OYE 700 is currently owned by a private Collector who has recently spent over £1,200 with DA Cooper in Sussex on some mechanical work to ensure the car is in splendid shape for the next owner. This was the first of the Abbotts of Farnham aluminium-bodied cars, and one can only imagine the sort of attention the 'swoopy' Continental bodywork would have generated back in 1954, matched only by the sort of admiration it would garner in 2023. This car is effectively the same as a manual Mulliner R-Type Continental, but at a fraction of the price, and rarer. Both cars are alloy-bodied and drive identically. We encourage you to view this remarkable piece of automotive art in the metal and to appreciate the sheer quality on offer.Specification Make: BENTLEY Model: R-TYPE COUPE BY ABBOTT Year: 1954 Chassis Number: B393SP Registration Number: OYE 700 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: B446S Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 51171 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 167

Restored by specialists Arthur Archer and one of only 50 of these exquisite sports saloons, this short-wheelbase 4-Litre has been owned by some of the very best collectors, a true connoisseur's car. The Bentley 4-Litre was the old Cricklewood company's swansong model before its absorption by Rolls-Royce. With the Depression biting, sales of the old 4½-Litre were declining and, with its newest 8-Litre model costing all of £1,850 in chassis-only form, Bentley Motors desperately needed a new smaller model to compete with Rolls-Royce's successful 20/25hp. The result was the 4-Litre. The six-cylinder engine was designed by Ricardo, with overhead inlet/side exhaust valves and a claimed output of 120bhp at 4,000rpm. A double-drop chassis was adopted, closely based on that of the contemporary Bentley 8-Litre, and offered in two wheelbase lengths - 11' 2" and 11' 8", both of which were shorter than the shortest of the two 8-Litre chassis available. Although 'W.O.' apparently did not like the Ricardo design (considering it difficult to tune) the fundamental soundness of the inlet-over-exhaust arrangement was aptly demonstrated post-war, with engines of this configuration powering Bentley and Rolls-Royce motor cars up to 1959. The 4-Litre was not fully understood in-period and much maligned yet, with the benefit of hindsight, it had the best chassis, gearbox and rear axle of all the pre-war Bentleys, proving ideal to be converted into 6½- and 8-Litre specials in later years. Only 50 '4-Litres' were completed before the original Bentley company's liquidation, with only a dozen believed to exist today. This rather handsome 4-Litre Sports Saloon (Chassis #VF 4011) dates from 1931, and was purchased by our vendor from North Wales in 2019. It was described at the time of his purchase as 'The car is matching numbers with the original engine, steering box etc. and the restoration included an extensive mechanical overhaul of the engine, chassis and all running gear as well as totally rebuilding an original, very handsome, Gurney Nutting body with twin side-mounted spare wheels, louvred bonnet and scuttle, ‘trouser crease' wings etc. The quality of the reconstruction of the coachwork and the attention to detail are really something to behold, showing dedication, genuine enthusiasm and a desire to make the coachwork indistinguishable from the original.'#VF 4011 has a fascinating history and was delivered new to J.M. Robertson of 45, West Nile Street, Glasgow wearing a Weymann saloon body by Freestone & Webb. Two years later, it had migrated south to A.R. Timson of Kettering and, in 1937, it passed to J.W. Tompkins of Peterborough. The old buff log book with the car cites Dr Benjamin Spiers of Harley St. as the owner in January 1949. Dr Spiers was responsible for having a rakish Drophead Coupé alloy body fitted to the car, which was assumed to have replaced war-damaged or modified bodywork, as its use in that period is not known. It was in this form that its next owner purchased the car from Harvey Hudson & Co. Ltd. of South Woodford, Essex in April 1954. He fondly recalls haring around the Essex countryside in the 4-Litre as a young man and having enjoyed it immensely, but within a year, his impending marriage curtailed these activities and forced him to advertise the car for sale. It was offered in Motorsport magazine, where it was listed as having had £1,500 spent since 1945, and a recent engine rebuild by McKenzies, but with no buyers forthcoming, and a need still to economise, the car was laid up on blocks until 1986. It was then that the 4-Litre was booked into Arthur Archer's esteemed restoration works in Dunmow, Essex in September 1986 for an engine overhaul. This rebuild quickly developed into a complete restoration of the chassis and running gear and, as this work neared completion, the owner and restorer were faced with a conundrum over the car's bodywork. It made little sense to restore the 1940s body as this was an anachronism for the 1930s car, but unfortunately no photos existed of this car as new. At this point, fortune played its part when another 4-Litre was discovered locally. Despite that car's derelict condition it retained a front and a back door from its original bodywork, a Gurney Nutting saloon, and a period photograph of the bodywork existed. With enough to work from, it was decided to replicate that car's Gurney Nutting bodywork for #VF 4011. The design in question was fitted originally to chassis #VA 4076, as illustrated in Johnnie Green's Bentley, 50 years of the Marque on page 135. There is little doubt of the quality and eye for detail with which the car's bodywork was remade, Archer's motto of 'Older than the Industry' being testament to their familiarity with all aspects of restoration, including coachbuilding. The new coachwork was exquisitely painted in a two-tone livery and trimmed in deep red leather hide, its interior being appointed with period correct vanity units, correct dashboard instrumentation and even a tool storage area behind the rear seat. In total, the cost of the 12-year rebuild amounted to some £90,000, for which each and every bill is available, many dating from the late 1980s when labour was considerably less than today. Upon its completion, the Bentley was first shown at the Bentley Driver's Club Annual Concours in 1998 and was lightly used over the following years before being offered to market in 2010.Between 2010 and our vendor’s purchase in 2019, #VF 4011 (still registered as GT 1094) at some point was owned by one of Ireland’s most celebrated collectors and enthusiasts, Jimmy Boland, who used the Bentley on the Gordon Bennet Rally, and it was well-maintained as part of his extensive collection. Equally, our vendor has continued the car's history of cosseted ownership and regular maintenance during the last four years, keeping the car in climate-controlled storage when not in use. This is a well-restored example of a rare model, and a commendable labour of love to have rebuilt the car to its original form. Without doubt it would make a very practical and usable touring car for Bentley Driver's Club events and the like, and would be welcome anywhere.Specification Make: BENTLEY Model: 4 LITRE Year: 1931 Chassis Number: VF 4011 Registration Number: GT 1094 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: VF4016 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: Burgundy leatherClick here for more details and images

The 993 Carrera 2S has rightfully become one of the most sought after modern Porsche models. This mint-condition, low-mileage example is the perfect addition to any collection. The air-cooled Porsche 993 Carrera was arguably Porsche’s finest ever incarnation of the legendary 911 Series. 993 is the company's internal name for the version of the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between late 1993 and early 1998, replacing the 964 and before the 996. Its discontinuation marked the end of air-cooled Porsches, with the 993 being not just the last air-cooled 911, but also the last of the hand-built 911 series. 25 years on, it still looks modern - a truly timeless design. In 1995, Porsche switched to the Varioram-equipped M64/21(22) engine. Varioram adjusts the length of the air intake ducts in line with the engine revolutions and the speed of the car increasing the power output to 285bhp giving the 993 Carrera improved performance. The wide, turbo-bodied 911 Carrera 'S' offered a higher level of equipment both inside and out. Nothing was overlooked. The suspension was lowered by 10mm at the front and 20mm at the back. The Carrera 2S shares it’s bodyshell with the Turbo, giving the car its wide stance yet retaining the all-important naturally-aspirated engine. Its spoiler is split down the middle and painted the same colour as the car, and the model designation appears on the engine compartment lid and on the tachometer. The handbrake lever, door entry guards, instrument bezels and ball-shaped gear knob were also unique. However the biggest change under the skin of the 993 was the new multi-link rear suspension, giving greater driver confidence, less road noise and excellent ride quality. Designed to give a level of passive rear-wheel steering (the 'Weissach effect'), thus controlling the way the suspension behaved under cornering, braking and acceleration, it transformed the 911. It was also the first 911 to be equipped with power steering and an advanced ABS system. This beautiful Carrera 2S was originally supplied by Porsche Austria on 2nd July 1997 to a high net-worth individual with homes in the UK, Austria, and an estate in the Bahamas. It boasts an excellent Porsche Main Dealer and Porsche specialist service history with stacks of invoices and paperwork for maintenance in addition to its original leather driver’s bookpack. It is a genuine 'C16' UK-spec car and comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming its original build specification, a specification that includes possibly the longest list of optional extras that we’ve ever seen.R814 TST is one of just 251 manual gearbox Carrera 2S Porsches delivered to the UK, and this one is believed to be one of just four in this specification. Finished in Porsche’s classic Guards Red with a seldom seen Cashmere and Black with Porsche script leather interior, this 993 has covered a mere 22,122 miles from new with just two former UK-keepers. Despite the minimal mileage, our perfectionist vendor decided to have the whole car resprayed due to a couple of minor stone chips and blemishes, and this was completed in October 2023, ensuring that the paintwork is as perfect as it can be. Mechanically, the car runs and drives really well, benefitting from a recent major service by Porsche marque expert Redline and the history file inspires confidence.Just as the Turbo and other low-build 993 variants have become highly collectable, the 'S' versions of the 993 have rightfully excited Porsche enthusiasts for many years. This is a rare opportunity for the discerning collector to get their hands on what might just be the very best example of the last of the air-cooled Porsche 911s in an incredibly extensive specification. At Iconic Auctioneers, we are very fortunate to deal with such high-quality motorcars, and this 993 is simply exceptional. The mileage, the rarity, the desirability, the history and the specification are simply phenomenal, and all on offer at a very reasonable guide.Specification Make: PORSCHE Model: 911 CARRERA 2S Year: 1997 Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99ZVS314397 Registration Number: R814 TST Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 63V05116 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 23000 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Cashmere SuedeClick here for more details and images

Lot 191

A superbly restored, matching numbers example of an early 289 Hi-Po car, the model that was to inspire Caroll Shelby's GT350. With performance to raise a smile when in the mood, and enough space for the family when required, some say the Ford Mustang created its own industry sector by offering an affordable sports car for the daily commute. The second of two models, the Coupé was marketed as the hardtop version of the convertible, and is today known as the Notchback. The sportier looking Fastback was launched in early 1965, clearly defining the Mustang range and into Mustang genesis for the line of tuned Ford Mustangs that followed, was the early production 289 High Performance (Hi-Po) Mustang. This was the car that Carroll Shelby took and rebadged as the GT350.Records show that just 466 1965 K-Code cars were built at the Ford Dearborn factory in Illinois, many destined for Shelby's Los Angeles workshops. The example offered here is a 19th February 1965-registered Ford Mustang K-code Hi-Po finished to the most exacting standards. Possibly the finest early correct example available worldwide, and all tuned Mustangs, even today, can trace their DNA back to this car. Purchased in the United States in 2011, the restoration was carried out by renowned Mustang expert and MCA judge, Denis Frances Restos of Danville Virginia. It was subject to a bare-metal rotisserie restoration with the brief to make it as close as possible to the factory production line cars, including, remarkably, factory overspray detail and crayon marks. Finished in Caspian Blue with a black interior and fitted with Carlite factory-tint glass, it is incredibly faithful to the original specification and even retains its original door plate. It's fitted with it's original V8 289 Hi-Po engine as used in the Shelby GT350. This was rebuilt at the same time as the restoration at a cost of $7,000, and travelled just 300 miles in 2014.The 4-speed 'top-loader' manual gearbox was also rebuilt at the same time. The full specification includes black Decor seats, 9" differential, front discs with dual master cylinder, date-correct seat belts and new correct steel wheels. It also sports reproduced Arvinode exhausts. This Mustang really is as good as it gets, and has caught the eye of two previous vendors of ours, the first whilst on a plinth at the Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Motor Show Sale in 2014.Prior to being sold by us last year, the Mustang had been rightly displayed on the Pride of Ownership stand at the Classic Motor Show. Our 2022 sale vendor had added a spare wheel with cover, fitted a period correct radio with modern electrics, prop shaft seals and passenger side window regulator, with the works carried out by noted specialist Bill Shepherd Mustang at a cost of £2,358. The car's current owner has kept the car in a heated garage since purchase, and is thinning his collection out on a 'last in-first out' basis.Presented to auction with a history file that includes recent receipts, V5C, Owner's Manuals, a book entitled The 289 Mustang High Performance Mustang Story and an odometer reading of 20,987 miles at the time of cataloguing.Specification Make: FORD Model: MUSTANG Year: 1965 Chassis Number: 5F09K640857 Registration Number: FNA 392C Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 640857 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 21000 Miles Make: Only LHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Is there a cooler classic car? Understated, Highland Green, Fastback silhouette; this is a superb example that drives as well as it looks. The original Mustang was exactly the right car at the right time and consequently, this 'sports car for the masses' sold 1,000,000 in less than two years. The secret of the Mustang's success was a broad appeal that extended beyond the target market thanks to a great value-for-money package, combining sporty looks, decent economy and brisk performance. Available as a Notchback Coupe, Convertible or, from 1965, as Fastback Coupe and the array of trim and engine options meant that there was a 'Stang' to satisfy everyone. The fastback Coupe is an effortlessly cool shape and is the Mustang profile that people default to in their mind's eye. Mustangs could be ordered in specifications ranging from six-cylinder economy to V8-powered luxury, whilst customers could choose from an extensive range of factory options with the result that seldom are two Mustangs identical. Already an outstanding success, the Mustang was turned into a legend overnight following its appearance in the Steve McQueen film, Bullitt  in 1968. In one of the most spectacular car chases ever seen in a motion picture, McQueen's maverick cop, Frank Bullitt, wowed audiences as he was pursued by two hitmen driving a Dodge Charger 440 'Magnum' in a high-speed chase through the streets of San Francisco. Bullitt essentially did for movie car chases what Star Wars did for science fiction films. That's because, unlike other movies at the time, the stunt driving was all real; there were no cheap rear-screen projections used for the close-up shots of the actors, and none of the scenes were sped up in post-production to heighten the sense of speed. They didn't need to be, because those cars really were barrelling through the streets of San Francisco at over 110mph! There was a real sense of danger, unlike any movie chase before it, as the two muscle cars weaved through traffic and jumped over the hills of San Francisco, while the camera literally put you in the driving seat. The soundtrack is glorious too, and we don't mean the music soundtrack. Not a word of dialogue is spoken during the 11-minute long sequence. Apart from the scene-setting jazz score that does a great job of building tension before the chase erupts in a cloud of tire smoke, there's no music either, allowing you to appreciate the sound of two thunderous V8 muscle cars and their screaming tortured tyres battling it out. It promptly became an unforgettable part of cinematic history and confirmed the Mustang as one of the all-time classics. The car presented here is a 1968 Ford Mustang, Steve McQueen 'Bullitt-style' Fastback with subtle upgrades to get it to the level of accuracy we see today. It’s supplied with a Marti Report (see image attached) which shows that it was an original Highland Green Fastback built at Ford’s Dearborn plant and sold by the Rebsamen Motor Company in Little Rock, Arkansas. Before leaving the USA, it was registered and used in California and a copy of the California Title is present. The car arrived in the UK in 2015 and is registered correctly with all import taxes paid. The paintwork is very good throughout, dressed in movie-correct, Highland Green, and the exterior has front and rear bumper guards, screen sun-visor, correct inset sidelights, front and rear inset reflectors, original-style chrome mirrors and twin 2-inch exhaust pipes. The car sits on period-correct Torq-Thrust wheels with 225/55/16 Bridgestone Sport tyres. The private McQueen movie number plate 'JJZ' is also supplied with the car.The interior has been fully restored with movie-correct, black deluxe seats, woodgrain dash panel and door cards, and new carpets and headlining. The correct, 4-speed, top-loader, manual gearbox has the Hurst GT shifter with a white ball GT gear knob and was refurbished recently (an invoice refers). 3-point front seat belts and rear lap belts are installed. The 302ci V8 starts on the button and sounds great with its nickel-plated, 'shorty' performance headers and full X-pipe custom large dual Magnaflow exhausts. Steering is power-assisted, and disc brakes are fitted on the front. The indicated mileage is 4,642, the MOT is valid until 8th August 2024 and there is a small service file with some bills. Our vendor has spent £12,000 in further improving this car’s driveability, with recent work to the gearbox and suspension, plus some other minor touches (see invoices attached), to make this a really spot-on classic muscle car, with the sure-fire cool-factor of its Bullitt-style demeanour. We welcome any inspection of this iconic piece of American automotive history. Lot 197

Incredibly well-built road-legal Dakar Classic 2022 finisher, offered at a mere fraction of the build cost. Everyone knows about the Lancer Evolution and its WRC successes, but somehow Mitsubishi managed to sneak another ‘Evolution’ into their line-up - the Pajero Evolution. Mitsubishi is synonymous with their 'off the beaten track' form of racing, both literally and figuratively. Their undeniable successes in the World Rally Championship are well-documented, but their Dakar Rally successes are not to be overlooked, having taken the top trophy on 12 separate occasions with variations of the Pajero Evolution. As an homologation special, 2,500 Pajero Evolution road cars were built in order to meet Dakar Rally’s production-based T2 class requirements. It was based on the second generation Pajero but with many features unique to the model. Equipped with a 3.5-litre 24-valve DOHC V6 6G74 engine with MIVEC and a dual-plenum variable intake producing 276bhp (‘that’ Gentleman’s Agreement figure) and 256lb/ft of torque. Actual figures suggest that the car was more likely to be pumping out north of 300bhp. It would complete 0-60mph in just eight seconds, which is not bad for a two tonne truck, and you can rest assured it will do that on whatever surface you like. The two-door body incorporated large wheel arch flares, two fin-like rear spoilers, a bonnet scoop, Recaro seats and various other racing-inspired styling elements. Skid plates and mud flaps were included for additional off-road protection. Double wishbone independent suspension was used on the front and the rear used a multi-link independent suspension unique to the Pajero Evolution. Four-wheel drive was standard, with front and rear Torsen differentials.Offered here is something really rather special. The car was purchased as a totally standard road-going Pajero Evo by our rallying vendor in May 2021 with the goal of competing in the gruelling Dakar Classic from 1st-14th January 2022, giving just a six month timeframe to complete the car. The Dakar Rally is one of, if not the most, brutal and toughest rallies one can compete in globally, and with a tight timeframe, the build was commenced immediately. With an engineering background and a huge level of rally experience, the car was fully and meticulously prepared for the rally using the best parts and equipment. It was built to FIA specification and regulations in order to compete, meaning the specification list is immense, and can be viewed within the history file and in the photos. To list a few of the parts fitted there are: FIA-approved seats, harnesses, bag-tank, battery cut-off, fire extinguishers, roll-cage, ally firewall, 3-part upgraded sump guard, Cooper Discoverer tyres. The list goes on and on. Conservative figures given just for the parts installed and fitted to the car in the build process comfortably surpass the £30,000 mark, excluding the labour involved or the purchase of the donor car. To build or replicate a car to be this competitive, capable, well-built, reliable and well-maintained, one would comfortably be looking at a £100,000 plus build cost. For the 2022 Dakar Classic, the husband-and-wife team was denoted the (lucky) competition number #777 with the car not only finishing the rally, which is no easy feat, but completing it with no issues at all, a contrast to other Pajeros that were entered which struggled with mechanical issues throughout, proving a real testament to the build quality of this example. With the Dakar Classic box ticked and the itch scratched, our vendor has tidied and refurbished the car, with an MOT valid until 14th August 2024, now seeing it as time to move the car on to focus on other rallying projects, and to enable the next custodian to enjoy this ready to go, monster road-going Dakar Classic finisher at a fraction of its build cost.Specification Make: MITSUBISHI Model: PAJERO EVOLUTION Year: 1998 Chassis Number: V554402406 Registration Number: R290 BLH Transmission: Automatic Engine Number: E-V55W6974 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 116000 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

One of just 50 finished in Passion Red from the 250 UK-supplied cars, less than 28,000 miles and direct from 20-year ownership. Launched at the peak of rally-mania, Mitsubishi experienced huge success in Lancer Evolution sales, reportedly selling 6,000 Evolution IVs in the first three days of its launch! The 1996 WRC season brought Mitsubishi its first World Rally Championship drivers' title, thanks to a blisteringly quick young driver named Tommi Makinen. In quick succession, the Lancer Evolution VI came to be and, in the latter-half of 1999, Mitsubishi unleashed a special edition to celebrate its favourite driver's four consecutive WRC drivers' titles from 1996-1999; the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI 'Tommi Makinen Edition' (TME). The Evolution VI was already a technological tour-de-force but the TME came equipped with a more responsive titanium turbocharger, uprated and lowered suspension, quicker steering, an upgraded exhaust, a new ECU, beefed-up transfer case internals, a redesigned front bumper for improved cooling and authentic 17" WRC Enkei alloy wheels. The interior featured embossed Recaro seats, a MOMO steering wheel and red stitching. The performance upgrades saw 0-60mph despatched in 4.4 seconds and a maximum top speed of 150mph. Power was rumoured to be north of 300bhp, rather than the 276bhp 'Gentleman’s agreement'.Widely regarded as the finest Lancer to wear the Evolution badge, it was available in five colours, with Passion Red and Canal Blue joining Scotia White, Pyrenean Black and Satellite Silver. Only 250 TMEs (across the five colours) were officially imported into the UK, with 100 examples going to Australia, and the rest sold domestically in the Japanese market. Official figures show that of the UK’s allocation, only 50 examples were in Passion Red. According to Mitsubishi, it was these Passion Red cars that automatically received the renowned racing decals, known as a 'Special Colour Package' (SCP), meaning that these examples were factory-fitted with black door handles (so as to not break the line of the long profile decal). In the world of Mitsubishi aficionados, the consensus is that there were just 212 official factory SCP examples of the TME produced.Car #029 presented here is very special indeed. Not only is it a genuine Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition (CP9A/SNGF2) SCP car (i.e. one of 212), but it is also an official UK-market example. This means it was officially imported by Mitsubishi-affiliated Ralliart UK; hence it would have been professionally SVA’d, and is supplied with UK service books. Supplied to the first of just two owners on 16th October 2001, our vendor bought the car just two years later on 20th June 2003. The specification includes a Mitsubishi-branded Momo steering wheel, a digital clock, automatic climate control, Active Yaw Control, a Kenwood stereo, and an intercooler water sprayer. It sits on a set of white 17" 10-spoke Enkei alloy wheels, housing red Brembo brake callipers and shod with Michelin Primacy 3 tyres and an uprated exhaust has been installed.Presenting in stunning condition as evidenced by our images, the car has been looked after by the renowned specialists, Arnside Motorsport of Carnforth, where, at 27,875 miles, it received a full service and cambelt replacement service in June 2023. The most recent MOT is valid until 24th June 2024. It's presented to auction with the original Owners Manuals, service book, order form, a Kenwood stereo manual, and a collection of maintenance documents. A truly exceptional example.Specification Make: MITSUBISHI Model: LANCER Year: 2001 Chassis Number: CP9A0201505 Registration Number: YN51ZGH Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 4G63BG5911 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 27900 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black AlacantaraClick here for more details and images
