A Victorian mahogany apothecary's cabinet with brass swan-necked handle, the two doors each fitted with nine bottles, opening to reveal five further bottles, two bearing labels "...G H Morgan & Sons Limited, Dispensing Chemists, 2 High Street and New Street, Wem" over three short and three long graduated drawers, one fitted with measures and glass funnel, the middle drawer fitted with pestle and mortar and four further bottles, the lower drawer with further measure, scales, golden eye ointment pot, various weights and a mahogany lidded box with further sliding door compartment verso bearing four further bottle compartments and bottles, three bearing G H Morgan & son labels CONDITION REPORTS Case basically sound though with some signs of wear and tear conducive with age and use. Bottles appear in reasonable order. Drawers and contents which may or may not be original seem in reasonable order. Mahogany case set of scales again possibly not original. Goldeneye ointment pot with crazing and chips to the top and bottom rims - see images. Rear bottles appear in reasonable order, some loss to the top right of the rear sliding cover. A 19th Century mahogany apothecary's chest, the top with herringbone banding and moulded edge opening to reveal scales, four bottles, measures, funnel and bone spoon, over a door opening to reveal six various bottles bearing labels "A J Wells late J W Trigg, Gloucester, Arthur J Wells and J W Trigg" over seven various drawers, the centre drawer containing glass pestle and mortar, with further rear door containing eight various bottles bearing labels for "R Y Duckworth, Gloucester, Arthur J Wells, Gloucester, W H Hampton, Gloucester" CONDITION REPORTS Case with staining, denting, scratching etc conducive with age and use. Top interior particularly so with lots of denting particularly to the front edge suggesting it may have been forced at some stage. Interior bottles etc may or may not be original. Drawers empty with the exception of small quantity of weights top left drawer. Door catches/hooks right hand side missing though eyes extant. Rear compartment with eight bottles, varying labels, again catch and eye missing - see images for further detail
A Victorian mahogany apothecary's cabinet the two doors each fitted with eight bottle compartments containing eight original bottles and two further later bottles opening to reveal a six bottle compartment over drawers containing scales, pestle and mortar, funnel, bottles, etc. with further compartment verso of six compartments containing four original bottles CONDITION REPORTS Whilst basically good, the piece is not without faults. Oxidisation to the brasswork of the handle, staining to the rear compartment cover, horizontal splits across the right hand door. Two bottles missing to the interior of left door, the two in existence probably replacements, four missing to right door lower section. See images for further details. Right lower drawer handle now just a screw, one funnel or measure missing to interior of drawer. Interior of long drawer probably incomplete as far as contents go, see images for what is there. Split to rear lower panel, two bottles missing to rear compartment, one very damaged, see images for further detail
An 18th Century oak longcase clock of slim proportions, the 30-hour movement by Thomas Taylor of Worcester, the face with Roman numerals to the chapter ring enclosing a subsidiary date aperture, single hand CONDITION REPORTS Chapter ring spandrels etc to the face appear original, hand may also be original. Unknown if half hour markers are floating or attached? Does not appear to be relevant - see images for further info. Movement appears to be in untouched condition but requiring attention. The case has probably been cut down to the base and has several splits, cracks, dents etc conducive with age and use. At one point had a catch to top left of door, now missing, however probably not original anyway - again see images for further detail of case
A 19th Century painted French two-tier oval table with marble top, together with a 19th Century pitch pine French pot cupboard with rosso marble top CONDITION REPORTS The piece has a new top and has been repainted a gun metal type grey. Possibly gilded originally. Pot cupboard marble top broken in half and restored - see image. Woodwork seems in reasonable order though door at a slightly strange angle on the hinges - see image - not so noticeable from the front
A Victorian mahogany and inlaid bureau bookcase cabinet, the glazed top above fall front cupboard over a base of two banks of four drawers (marriage) CONDITION REPORTS Whilst incorporating several matching/original elements it is believed that the peice is in some respects made up. The cornice has a replacement left hand section - see image. The left hand door has two broken panels - see image. Fall front compartment vacant and with fablon covering. Top with replacmeent ext4ended side section, differnet wood to the centre section both sides and beading different colour. Bottom right hand side lower two drawers actually one as a cellerette - see image. Remainder of drawers single. Requires sympathetic resoration to replace veneers in some areas - see images.
