Wain, Alfreton (Derbyshire), the 13-inch break arch dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing subsidiary seconds dial and calendar crescent, signed beneath, within rose spandrels and arch painted with a lady seated on a bank with basket of eggs, the movement rack-striking on a bell, the case with swan neck pediment, turned column, shaped short trunk door between fluted corners, and unusual geometric panelled base, 218cm high Condition: General crazing and discolouration to dial including some losses to blacking on numerals. Movement untested and sold as seen. One replacement disc terminal to swan neck pediment, cracks and repairs to both swan necks, minor cracking to hood door and missing its knob handle. Muirhead Jun'r Glasgow, the knopped four-pillar movement with deadbeat escapement, striking on a bell, the case with scroll-carved pediment and fluted frieze over conforming columns, the sides with brass lancet arch tracery, moulded break-arch long trunk door between leaf-capped fluted columns on moulded plain base, 198cm high Condition: Dial may have been previously silvered. Some typical white staining and losses to Roman numerals. Movement appears sound but is not tested and sold as seen. Case has a little cracking here and there. Losses to trunk door including to top edge moulding and top half of left side, some moulding losses to top of base, other minor damage commensurate with age and use. William IV or early Victorian mahogany-cased eight-day painted dial longcase clock, Henry Pottle, Winchester, (fl.1830-67), the twelve-inch circular Roman dial signed 'Hen'y Pottle Winchester', with subsidiary seconds dial beneath XII, with five-pillar movement, the case with foliate scroll-carved hood and ebony line inlay over figured break-arched trunk door, panelled base and wavy apron, 206cm high Condition: Dial has minor staining and some crazing including visible impacts to front from dial feet pressing to reverse. Movement appears sound but is untested and sold as seen. Case has some minor losses to pierced circular sound frets to sides of hood. One side panel of trunk has a circular disc adornment. Otherwise sound. George III mahogany-cased stick barometer, George Richardson, Leadenhall St London, circa 1807, with engraved silvered register plate reading from 27 to 31-inches of pressure with Remarks, the trunk with architectural 'broken' pediment over hinged glazed door, exposed main tube, feather-veneered and moulded stem and hemispherical cistern, 100cm high Litereature:Gloria Clifton, Dictionary of British Scientific Instrument Makers 1550/1851 NMM1996 p.231 states that this maker was at 48 Leadenhall Street in 1807 only. Condition: Minor loss to ebonised glazed door stringing to lower right corner, has been repolished, otherwise sound. **General condition consistent with age

Local Interest - Late 19th/early 20th Century carved pine single fusee wall clock, Warry, Clifton, circa 1900, the 12.5-inch cream Roman dial signed 'Warry Clifton', the chain-driven fusee movement with shouldered plates, within carved surround with rear box, 43cm diameter Condition: Dial has general discoloured crazing and some flake losses commensurate with age and use. The clocks appears to never have had a bezel or glass cover as there is no evidence of a place for a hinge. Movement apprears clean but is untested and sold as seen. Case has wide radial crack between 8 and 9. Side door maybe a repalcement. Mid 19th Century satin walnut library clock, with later Roman dial and bezel, unmarked gut-driven single fusee movement with anchor escapement, the case with bevelled glazed roof and sides on bulging base and plinth, 24.5cm high Condition: Dial and bezel are replacements as catalogued, movement appears to have only ever been single fusee. Back plate is unsigned, missing locking nut/transit screw for pendulem holdfast. Some wear to one corner upright of case indicating a previous movement has probably been fitted. Case is in generally nice order (dial and bezel apart), except for cracking and veneer losses to rear door. Sold as seen.
