An Unusual Large Size Drop Dial Wall Timepiece, R Rolfe, Clerkenwell, architectural pediment, recessed rectangular trunk door flanked with carved scroll leaf mouldings, recessed waisted plinth with carved border, 24-inch painted dial with Roman numerals, single weight driven four pillar movement with deadbeat escapement, maintaining power, movement front plate stamped RR and numbered 2028, 231cm high Rolfe is recorded working in London 1832-1881. By repute, this timepiece was removed from an East Anglian railway station circa 1940. In 1969 it was used in a Suffolk sawmill acquired by the vendor's family and kept there until 1987 when it was placed in storage whilst a new building was erected. 29.01.15, Case has been restored, polished surfaces, some later mouldings, hood with later door latch, front of the case with small dents, dial has been totally re-painted to a high standard, movement looks complete, with weight and pendulum.

A musical longcase clock, the 30 cm arched square brass dial having a silvered chapter ring, signed Wm North, London, with a subsidiary CHIME/SILENT and seconds dial, fitted an eight day movement striking on eight bells and a gong, in an inlaid mahogany case, 234 cm high (over finial) (case a.f.) See illustration Condition report Report by RB The dial has 4 Bells/8 Bells regulator 2 III, the gilt spandrels to the arch are of a more glitzy gilt colour, and actually cover some engraved decoration and are therefore probably later, there is a hole to the CHIME/SILENT subsidiary dial, just underneath the centre pin of the dial, the movement is quite substantial, as you would expect, but clearly has not run in a decade or two, the case has now fallen to pieces and is in a flat pack condition (!), having been subjected to several years of central heating, the trunk door is slightly bowed, as is the base sections, the back board (to which the gong is attached) has a Spillman & Co, St Martin's Lane, London, ivorine plaque, there is a section of approx. 6.5 cm taken out of the back right hand side, about 90% towards the top (approx. 1.5 cm deep), and although the case now needs putting back together it is actually quite a pleasing colour, with general knocks, wear and tear as one would expect, with pendulum (repaired) and two weights, most of the case parts are present, it has basically just collapsed due to central heating in the house for too long

A longcase clock, the 25 cm square brass dial signed J N O Ettry, Horton, with Roman numerals and subsidiary calendar aperture, fitted a 30 hour movement, in an oak case, 214 cm high See illustration Condition report Report by RB The movement has steel pillars, I cannot see anything that turns the calendar, seat board probably later, and rechocked where it sits on the case, the case has been cleaned and restored, many years ago, and is quite light in colour, with the right hand side having a large split which has been filled and is now slightly warped, the trunk door has had a handle removed and is now plugged, the base has a later plinth base with pendulum, key and weight

An unusual Continental oak wardrobe, in the form of a keep, incorporating a castellated section and a portcullis, having two panel doors and two drawers below, carved a jousting knight on a horse, and with a leaded glass panel section, 164 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB In a garage stored condition. The front right hand side cone is badly wormed, and the disc it sits on is cracked, and the projecting window section it sits on has a chip/section missing to the bottom part of it, some of the mouldings underneath the cornice are incomplete, and a couple missing, the stucco brickwork to the right hand side is detached, but present, the right hand door (with the jousting knight) has a couple of splits, lacks its lock and keys, with the interior with modern shelves and some extra bracing, and lacking its bottom board, the left hand door has leaded glass panel to which there is slight damage (bottom right hand section), damage to several panels and loss, one panel crudely replaced, the sliding lock on the door furniture is missing, the lock is present, but no key, there is some residual emulsion paint to the sides. Overall quite a fairyland piece, quite different, with some occasional worm, loss and damage, now needing some repair/restoration and tlc
