A GEORGIAN EIGHT BELL STRIKE LONGCASE CLOCK BY JAMES GRAHAM - LONDON, the ebonised mahogany case having a break arch hood with three finials and fretwork sound panels, the trunk with reeded columns and glass fronted door, bun feet to base, the movement striking on a carillon of 8 bells every quarter hour with the hourly strike on a single bell, the brass arched dial with subsidiary silent / strike and seconds dials, filigree hands, arched silvered name plate and gilt floral spandrels, H 230 cmCondition Report:The movement is not original to the clock and has been modified possible in the Victorian period having a fitted side plate to accommodate the hourly strike train when the 8 bell strike was fitted, the mahogany case is complete with no missing sections of veneer, some shrinkage to joins, damage to trunk door lock surround, missing brass column cap right hand lower.

A good Jugendstil German mantel torsion clock, circa 1910, the mahogany case with applied Art Nouveau copper mounts, with foliate and whiplash ornament, the movement stamped 'Patent Angemeldet' height 31cm.Condition report: It is unknown if the clock was working, but it does appear to function when briefly set up.There is nothing obvious missing, but we are unsure if all is complete, it would possibly have sat under a glass dome?.There is a split to the door, but no other noticeable damage.

A walnut marquetry longcase clock, the early 18th century eight day movement signed 'Nat(haniel) Seddon at St James's London', with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar niche, five pillar movement, the door and trunk inlaid with a flower filled urn and a bird, the dial 30.5cm (12") square, height 199cm.Condition report: We would consider the clock movement and case to be a marriage. The backboard extends above the hood.The hood has repainted gilt terminals and the columns are stained, the hood and case have patches and areas of refinishing and is fairly heavily varnished. The old hand written label appears to state that the clock was purchased in Newquay and is dated in a different hand 1796.We have not seen the clock working. A walnut and oak glazed haberdashery or shop display cabinet, mid 20th century, with retailers label for Harris & Sheldon Ltd, Birmingham, with adjustable glass shelves and parquetry base on square feet, height 91cm, width 178.5cm, depth 58cm.Condition report: The glass top has a host of scratches which is to be expected of a well used piece of shop furniture, the frame is very solid with no movement, signs of general wear, glass doors move freely chips to one door, no major condition issues. A William and Mary style walnut cabinet on stand, circa 1900, with a pair of glazed doors enclosing shelves, the lower part with a single drawer on spiral twists supports joined by shaped stretchers on bun feet, height 160cm, width 113cm, depth 49cm.Condition report: There are a number of fairly minor condition issues. The wood of the rear stretcher has had woodworm and has damage to the veneer in three places. There has been restoration to the left hand side of the cabinet, the veneer looks to have got damp and has had a triangular insert. The wood on the glazing bars on the right door is lifting. A walnut veneered cabinet on stand, early 18th century, the moulded cornice with a cushion drawer, the two doors opening to reveal an arrangement of drawers and a central herringbone strung door with an internal niche that removes to reveal four secret drawers, the lower part with a single long drawer on later legs and stretchers, (the stand in need of restoration) height 171cm, width 109cm, depth 51.5cm.Provenance:Michael Trethewey. A Gentleman of Taste.We are delighted to be selling in this sale and over forthcoming sales, items from the estate of the collector Michael Trethewey. Michael had an unerring eye for quality. He was a frequent visitor to these auction rooms, an elegantly dressed, unassuming man who bought well and had a singular passion for old school antiques.We are honoured to be handling his estate and as well as the items in this antiques sale we will be selling further pieces from his extensive collection in our June 17th Jewellery, Silver & Watches Sale and across our range of upcoming specialist sales.Condition report: The base has suffered multiple losses of veneer and will need restoration. We have most of the pieces. See further photos.The main cabinet is in much better condition, there are cracks and fading to the veneers panels in the outer doors, the inner door and drawer fronts are very good in colour and condition. Some of the drawer pulls have been replaced and are slightly mismatched. No major structural issues. See multiple photos now online.

A Victorian three door mahogany wardrobe, with linen press shelves, two short and two long drawers, and silk lined hanging compartment with boot chest, height 212cm width 192cm depth 67cm.Condition report: Overall condition is good, scuffs and scratches commensurate with age. Break to the wood of the box in the bottom left had section, see photo. We believe it breaks into 4, top, bottom and two central sections. Right hand door needs reattaching.
