A RARE CAST IRON TELEPHONE BOX CIRCA 1920, made by Carron Ironworks of Falkirk, in the neo-classical style, with single door and cross bar windows, bearing cast wreaths to the roof apex ends, H 270 cm, W 195 cm, D 135 cm Note - The Carron Company was an ironworks established in 1759 on the banks of the river Carron near Falkirk in Stirlingshire. After initial problems, the company was at the forefront of the Industrial Revolution. The company prospered through it's development and production of a new short-range and short barrelled naval cannon the carronade. The company was one of the largest ironworks in Europe through the 19th century.
