Lot 250

1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Two-Door coupé Transmission: automaticMileage:America's best-selling auto maker at the time, Chevrolet did not make any major changes to its post-war line-up until 1949, rationalising the range into two Series, Special (basic) and Deluxe, both of which featured Styleline (notchback) and Fleetline (fastback) body styles. Chevrolet's sole power unit at this time was the famous 'Stovebolt', 3,549cc overhead-valve six, which had continued unchanged for many years prior to the introduction of GM's Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission in 1951. Originally applied to a two-door hardtop coupé version of the Styleline Deluxe in 1950, the evocative Bel Air name was subsequently used to signify a top-of-the-range luxury trim level, commencing in 1953, rather than a separate and distinct body style. Top of the Chevrolet range, six Bel Airs formed the 1955 line-up, though the bewildering multitude of engine, transmission, and convenience options meant that a customer could order a vehicle direct from the factory that was tailored specifically to his or her taste. The Bel Air's basic engines comprised the 235.5ci (3,861cc) overhead-valve six and a 283ci (4.6 litre) V8. Like all contemporary Chevrolets, the Bel Airs offered style at comparatively modest cost. This fabulous example of this iconic American marque was an original west coast car that was sold to a Chicago collector where it was rotisserie restored to a very high standard. The previous owner who was an Orthopaedic surgeon for the US Ski Team purchased the car from the Chicago collector and had most of the modifications done in San Rafael, totalling allegedly circa £110,000. Its 383ci Chevy V8 engine has Edelbrock carburettors and polished Edelbrock performs alloy intake, headers with twin exhausts, also power steering with Eibach front suspension, vintage air conditioning, power assisted dual chamber four-wheel disc brakes, four speed manual transmission, Ford nine inch differential, tilt steering column with custom steering wheel, digital dashboard, stereo CD sound system, leather/cloth seats done to original pattern, cut pile carpets and very nice headliner. Its two-stage paint with Black Cherry and Pearl White combination looks fantastic. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 255

2007 Mercedes-Benz SL600 Brabus Transmission: automaticMileage:64369The fifth generation of the iconic Mercedes-Benz two-door convertible has the factory code R230 and was produced between 2001 and 2008. It features a retractable hardtop, known as the Vario roof and an active body control system which offers the balance of comfort and handling by regulating the firmness and heights of the suspension. From 2004 the model was updated to include a seven speed transmission which is superior to the previous five speed version. This impressive SL600 was first registered in September 2007 and has benefitted from additional body styling by Brabus and presents extremely well in black with a beige interior. This sleek cruiser is enhanced with a set of split rimmed alloy wheels. The stunning looks of this Mercedes are complemented by a good service history. Turn the key and the 5.5 litre V12 engine fires into life producing a glorious exhaust note and, we are told, is a joy to drive. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate and a file containing various bills and receipts. This rare example is well estimated and would make an ideal summer tourer.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Lot 256

1984 Opel Monza GSE Transmission: automaticMileage:85730The Opel Monza was launched in 1978 and as far of the UK is concerned, it helped transform the image of its maker almost overnight - all of a sudden, it was an expensive and desirable coupé that went as well as it looked. Based on the Opel Senator, this full-sized 1978-86 ‘Autobahnstormer’ was a good looking and well equipped three-door coupé which proved agile despite its bulk. In its top-of-the-range 3.0 litre injected form, the Monza offered dramatic straight line ability, 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 133mph. In 1982, the range was facelifted, and the GSE with Recaro seats, digital instrumentation and a prominent rear spoiler was introduced in the UK. This became a bit of a cult car helped in no part by Vauxhall dropping its slightly staider Royale Coupé from the line-up and rebranding its saloon as the Senator which meant for a short while, dealers sold the Opel Monza alongside the Vauxhall Senator. This superb example of this iconic hatchback is presented in metallic blue with black velour interior. This car wants for nothing! The previous owner spent circa £100,000 on it and the invoices for all this work can be seen in the history file. It is powered by the powerful and smooth 3.0 litre straight six mated to an automatic gearbox. Electric windows were an option bestowed upon this remarkable car and the history files contains the original sales brochure for the car, owner’s manual and original General Motors wallet. This surely must be the best example of this executive coupé on the market today.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 258

1989 Porsche 911 SC Transmission: manualMileage:37354The Porsche 911 is a luxury two-door sports coupé with a distinctive design, rear engine and independent rear suspension; an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. It has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained little changed. Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of automotive competition and is among the most successful competition cars ever. In the mid-1970s, normally aspirated 911 Carrera RSRs won major world championship sports car races such as Targa Florio, Daytona, Sebring and Nürburgring, even against prototypes. The 911-derived 935 Turbo also won the coveted 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979. In the 1999 international poll for the award of Car of the Century, the 911 came fifth. It is one of two in the top five that had remained continuously in production (the original Beetle remained in production until 2003) and was until 1998, the most successful surviving application of the air cooled, horizontally opposed rear-engine layout. This fabulous looking Porsche has been an exceptionally well cared for example having had one owner from its original registration date of 1st August 1989 until 8th November 1996 and only one owner since then. Finished in metallic grey with black leather interior and a black hood, this low mileage example is in the condition commensurate with such a low mileage car. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 18th November 2021 and a history folder. Enjoy the rest of the summer in this open top classic.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 260

1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5 16V Cosworth Transmission: manualMileage:112077In 1983, Mercedes-Benz introduced the Cosworth 2.3 16V into their range and the new cars were substantially different from the other 190 models. The body kit reduced the drag coefficient and the steering wheel was smaller than that on other 190s, whilst the fuel tank was enlarged to 70 litres. The Getrag five-speed, manual gearbox was unique to the 16 valve and featured a 'dog-leg' first gear. An enlarged 2.5 litre engine replaced the 2.3 in 1988 and offered double-row timing chains to fix the unreliable single chains on the early 2.3s. The power output was up by 17bhp with a slight increase in torque. It is debated whether the 2.5 engine was developed and built by Mercedes-Benz or by Cosworth … interestingly, they were not keen to broadcast the fact that their most sporting saloon car had an engine developed by a British company. The suspension on the 16 valve models is very different from the standard 190 and as well as being lower and stiffer, it has larger anti-roll bars, harder bushes and hydraulic self-levelling suspension on the rear allowing the rear ride-height to remain constant even when the car is fully loaded. This lovely example of this highly sought after model is especially rare being right hand drive and is presented in black metallic with black leather interior. It comes with an electric sunroof, electric windows, electric front seats and cruise control. The present vendor replaced all the door panels and the bonnet as well as replacing the spoiler with a new one and then had the car resprayed in 2018. The car looks superb! The history file contains various invoices from past work including the latest expenditure of £1622 with Steve Redfearn Mercedes-Benz Specialist in Wimbledon. This car has been very well looked after and it is refreshing to see such an example in such wonderful condition throughout.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 261

1967 Volkswagen Type 2 Split Screen Campervan Transmission: manualMileage:75000The Volkswagen Type 2 was introduced in 1950 as a multi-variant utility vehicle, known as the Transporter, Kombi or Microbus (depending on body type), and was devised as an evolution of the Volkswagen Type 1, the original Beetle. The first generation of these versatile vehicles (named the T1) was produced with distinctive split-screens from 1950 until 1967. Only two models were originally offered, the Kombi and the Commercial, the Microbus was added in May 1950, and was joined by the Deluxe Microbus in June 1951. The Deluxe Microbus (known as the ‘Sunroof Deluxe' in America) was the most luxurious version of the Volkswagen Transporter T1. The Deluxe model featured eight rear side windows and two rear corner windows, making it the '15-window' but was not available in Europe. Meanwhile, the European-market Deluxe Microbus, with its additional eight small skylight windows is, accordingly, the '23-window'. From the 1964 model year with its wider rear door, the rear corner windows were discontinued, making the latter two, the 13-window and 21-window respectively. The 23 and later 21 window variants each carry the famous nickname 'Samba' and are particularly revered. This delightful 1967 example of a Californian split screen camper was first registered in the UK in 1973 and has only had two owners since, our vendor having purchased it some 21 years ago in 2000. Presented in a fitting lavender over white with the desirable pop-top roof and bunk beds enabling comfortable sleeping arrangements, this example has had extensive restorations during the 21 years of ownership culminating in a repaint just last year. A look through the history file finds numerous invoices and, importantly, a full photographic documentation of the body restoration in circa 2000/2001 which also included a power steering upgrade; something the owner states transforms the driving experience. The original and sanded, restored Westfalia furniture hides upgrades including cooking hob and leisure battery heating system, rock and roll bed and a modern stereo provides entertainment up front. Long cables for EU and UK hook ups complete the camping kit and we are also informed this example has had a full-service history and passed a recent MOT without any advisories. Boasting a reconditioned 1.6 litre engine with the vendor’s assurance that it has no leaks it is fully ready for those summer excursions or perhaps festivals with friends.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

2001 Mercedes-Benz SL320 Designo Transmission: automaticMileage:58375The in-house model name at Mercedes-Benz for the SL launched in 1989 was the R129 and it was produced until 2002. Launched as a two door, two-seater roadster with an automated textile roof with a shell like, colour matched powered tonneau cover. This new model featured many innovative details for the time including the option of electronically controlled damping and a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. Delivered with an impressive number of standard features and a removable hardtop, this new model was to prove a best seller during its successful 13 year production. This limited edition Designo example is presented in the striking colour combination of Alanite Green with a contrasting beige leather interior and is one of the finest examples we have seen. With a limited run of only 50 cars produced for the UK market, this low mileage, attractive roadster comes with its factory hardtop and an impeccable MoT test history and an impressive service history with nine service stamps in the book and plenty of supporting invoices. This car has been owned and cherished by the vendor since 2014 and used sparingly as a summer car. The hood was replaced in 2019 and the under bonnet sound proofing has been replaced. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until March 2022 and a wind deflector, this low mileage example has been well looked after by the owner and has covered a mere 58,375 miles from new. This desirable Mercedes-Benz should command serious attention given its condition and sensible estimate.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI Sport Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:60000Historically, the E-Class is Mercedes-Benz' best-selling model, with more than 13 million sold by 2015. The first E-Class series was originally available as a four-door saloon, five-door estate, two-door coupé and two-door convertible. From 1997 to 2009, the equivalent coupé and convertible were sold under the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class nameplate; which was actually based on the mechanical underpinnings of the smaller C-Class while borrowing the styling and some powertrains from the E-Class. A trend continued with the C207 E-Class coupé/convertible which was sold parallel to the W212 E-Class saloon and estate models. With the latest incarnation of the E-Class released for the 2017 model year, all body styles share the same W213 platform. The coupé (C207) was first shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, while the convertible (A207) was unveiled at the 2010 North American International Auto Show. This superb example is presented in Graphite with grey leather interior. This car comes with a full service history and has just been serviced by the present owner. The leather front seats are heated and the car has the ‘air scarf’ fitted for wind noise reduction, front and rear park distance control and a CD player. This fabulous, sporty and classy convertible also enjoys the use of Bluetooth and is presented in superb condition throughout.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1917 Austin 20 Tourer Transmission: manualMileage:7000Driven by Edgar Wren as a promotional car to secure new orders of the 20hp model, the first prototype Austin Twenty began to take shape in the chassis-erecting shop at Longbridge during 1917 and an abridged specification was published in that September’s issue of The Austin Advocate magazine. Like the Hudson Super Six, the newcomer featured a substantial ladder frame chassis equipped with all round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension, rear wheel brakes, an engine of monobloc construction with in-unit, centre change gearbox and a sheet metal radiator cowl. Two prototype Austin Twenties were readied for 1918, a Landaulette and a Tourer. Road registered as `OB 6912', the latter sported a commodious four-door, five-seater body with a prominent hood well and internal storage for two spare wheels. With dreams of producing 25,000 cars a year, Herbert Austin despatched works test driver Edgar Wren on a nationwide trip aboard `OB 6912' to create interest. With a projected price of just £495 for the Tourer, and thanks also to the efforts of sales organiser Alfred Dupuis who travelled the Commonwealth and was reliant merely on photos and specification sheets, Austin had attracted an eye watering £6,000,000 worth of orders by July 1919. Unfortunately, the company could not fulfil them. The government tax on excess war profits meant that Herbert Austin could not afford to fully equip his expanded factories, there was also a severe shortage of skilled labour after World War One.Without the hoped-for economies of scale, Austin found itself losing money on every Twenty sold and thus had to introduce a `temporary surcharge’ of £100 per car in October 1919. Things went from bad to worse with the global economic slump of 1920-1921 and by December that year Austin was in receivership. The company famously bounced back with the Twelve and Seven models and the Twenty remained in production until December 1929 by which time some 15,287 had been made. This handsome Austin 20 Tourer is a prototype as mentioned above and few cars can have such an interesting history as this one. This extraordinary car was treated to an extensive `ground up’ restoration during the 2000’s with replacement parts being sourced or made as necessary. The bodywork is in great order and the black leather interior has a nice patina. This is a car that perhaps was ahead of its time taking into account the centre gear change and handbrake lever. Other manufacturers took decades to catch on and follow suit. The artillery wheels are in good order and we are advised she runs smoothly and drives well. This 104 year old vehicle is a very rare piece of British motoring history.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1997 Porsche 911 / 993 Carrera 2 S Transmission: automaticMileage:62965The Porsche 993 is the company's internal name for the version of the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between late 1993 and early 1998. Its discontinuation in 1998 marked the end of air-cooled Porsches. Like previous generations of the Porsche 911, there were several variants of the car manufactured, varying in body style, drive trains, and included equipment. The Carrera 4 S of 1996 and later 1997 Carrera S shared the Turbo model's bodyshell but housed the naturally aspirated Carrera engine in the rear. The 4S came with four-wheel drive and retained the Turbo model's larger brake discs with the characteristic red calipers. It could be described as a ‘Turbo without the turbochargers and rear wing’, whereas the S was in all aspects a standard Carrera underneath (the wider rear wings were compensated with 31mm wheel spacers. Both S models had slightly lowered suspension compared to standard Carrera models.Originally supplied by Lancaster Bow and registered on 1st January 1997, this Porsche has been owned by the vendor since 3rd December 2007. The car has been lovingly cared for by him and all the previous owners with 18 stamps in the service book, the last being carried out on 4th November 2020 at 62,796 miles. The Arena Red coachwork is in good condition as is the Marble Grey interior. As can be expected for such a low mileage example, the entire external bodywork emits a deep glossy shine overall with all glass and lenses remaining clear and free from any cracks or crazing. The seats, door cards, switches, door cappings, dashboard and headlining are totally unmarked. Carpets and mats also remain in fine order. The engine started immediately when requested and ran smoothly, we are advised she drives with no known faults. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with an MoT test certificate valid until 18th October 2021 and the original service books. Having been used sparingly by the vendor, this 993 Carrera 2 S is arguably, one of the best ever Porsche 911’s produced, and even by today standards, certainly no slouch!Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

1968 Lotus Elan +2 Transmission: manualMileage:75101Launched by Lotus in 1962, the two-seater Elan which had been a classic GT style 2+2 model was developed using a stretched chassis and widened track to accommodate two small rear seats. Improvements to the interior and the addition of front fog lights, in 1969, characterised the new Elan +2S but it wasn't until the much-awaited big valve head engines arrived early in 1971 that the Elan +2 really came of age thanks to the new 126bhp output. Known as the Elan Sprint, the same engine was transplanted into the +2S to create the Elan +2S 130. This version was capable of 125mph and 0-60 in just 7.4 seconds. It wasn't just the rapid performance that boosted Lotus's image but the fact that this model was the first that Lotus chose not to supply in kit form. This example is finished in red with a black leather interior, it was restored in 2000 and has most recently been refreshed and shows a mere 75,101 miles on the odometer. Fitted with a replacement Lotus galvanised chassis and Rotoflex driveshaft couplings, this Elan is presented very well indeed. The paintwork is in good order and the interior is well with both seats, door cards and dashboard all in fine fettle. Offered in SE specification including Weber carburettors, the 1558cc twin cam engine is mated to a stainless-steel exhaust and is reported to be in good driving condition having been treated to new plugs, leads, coil and servicing less than 50 miles ago. Ready to be enjoyed by a new custodian, this Elan comes complete with a history file detailing previous maintenance work, sundry invoices, previous MoT test certificates and the current UK V5 registration document and certainly represents one of the best examples on the market today.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320T V6 Estate Avantgarde Transmission: automaticMileage:20300The 2003 E-Class was larger than its predecessors while offering less interior space, particularly in the estate version, than the W210 it replaced. It offered petrol or diesel engines with a choice of rear or four-wheel drive. The redesigned 2003 model featured electrohydraulic braking system marketed as Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC), which was standard equipment in the E-Class. Options included multicontour front seats and dual control air suspension system marketed as Airmatic DC. The 2003 E-Class was offered in saloon and five-door estate car configuration in three trim lines; Classic, Elegance and Avantgarde. Its meagre mileage from new is just 20,300 and its condition is totally commensurate with this, supplied with the book pack and the on-board service schedule up to date. This surely must be one of the best examples of this terrific ‘work horse’ from the German manufacturer and its smooth V6 petrol engine is a joy.Guide Price £8,000 - £11,000 Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL 320 Millennium Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:76856Following the resounding success of the R107, the R129 Mercedes-Benz SL had a rather tough act to follow, and it still had to carry on the tradition of a fast and reliable grand touring convertible. The advantage designers had with the R129 was technology. By the time the final car rolled off the production line in 1989, these earlier models had been in production for 18 years with very little change. Therefore the new SL featured many new and innovative ideas, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi-link rear axle. In addition to this was a fully operating electric hood, windows, door mirrors and seats, which made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The SL boasted a more powerful engine and the stopping power was aided by anti-locking braking for added reassurance. This stunning metallic silver Millennium Edition 320 R129 is complemented by full black leather and a panoramic hardtop which is very desirable for this marque. Within the full book pack there is a service booklet stamped comprehensively with the most recent with Mercedes-Benz specialists Hampshire Service Centre in Fleet at 76,848 miles in July this year. The car has had just six former keepers in 23 years and feels like a low mileage and low owner car. Also in the history file are invoice and service schedules from Mercedes-Benz and an MoT test certificate valid until March 2022. Heated electric seats and the original stereo name but a few extras these Millennium Editions were very well specified with. This car is a perfect for top down motoring this summer with the added bonus of being a potential appreciating modern classic, just look at the R107 prices rising exponentially.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 2004 Jaguar XKR Carbon Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:87016The XK8 is a grand tourer car that was launched in 1996 and was the first generation of a new XK series available in both coupé and convertible body styles and with the new 4.0 litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The 1998 XKR was introduced with a supercharged version of the engine. Both the XK8 and XKR are electronically limited to a maximum of 155mph; the top speed of its predecessor, the XJS V12, being 158mph. A navigation system and self-levelling xenon headlamps came as standard with the XKR with Jaguar's adaptive cruise control as an optional feature available on both models. Both come with all leather interior, burr walnut trim and side airbags. Jeremy Clarkson, during a Top Gear test drive, likened the interior of the original XK8 to sitting inside Blenheim Palace. The Carbon Edition was offered by Jaguar in 2004 with only 100 cars produced. A split of 50 convertibles and 50 coupés were built, with a bonus for the lucky clientele of an invitation by Jaguar to a complimentary short break at Skibo Castle or Bovey Castle to celebrate their new purchase. This rare, desirable 2004 XKR Carbon Edition was supplied new to a very high specification. Finished in black, the interior features Recaro embossed cream leather sports seats, carbon fibre dashboard and internal inlays, Jaguar steeled pedals, aluminium embossed door entry guards, cream carpets and leather door cards, Alpine stereo system, adaptive cruise control, full colour information screen with satellite navigation and black leather bound multi-functional steering wheel. The car is supplied with a UK V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2022 and handbook pack showing a full service history. This now highly rare, modern day classic offers a unique pathway into the heritage of Jaguar with quality examples such as this being sought after by Jaguar enthusiasts worldwide.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1974 BMW 2002 Convertible by Baur Transmission: manualMileage:86789The BMW 2002 series is important in the history of BMW for several reasons; not the least of which being that it brought the company out of near bankruptcy in the 1960’s and put BMW on the map in the United States. It was the ancestral grandfather to the BMW 3 Series and was produced from 1968 to 1976. German BMW importer Max Hoffman is credited with the car's creation. He had suggested to BMW's engineering director that a 2.0 litre engine should be installed into the small two-door 1602 to improve performance and emissions. The resulting 2002 (named after the new motor's displacement) was popular in its first year on sale. This BMW 2002 is one of only 354 examples manufactured in right hand drive format. Conversions on these outstanding vehicles were by coachbuilder Karosserie Baur in Stuttgart at a time when ‘wind in the hair’ motoring was rare. Baur retained a ‘T’ bar in the roof design helping dramatically to reduce any scuttle shake. This BMW has been owned and enjoyed by its car enthusiast vendor since 2001. This rare 2002 will require restoration but when done could provide plenty more miles of open top driving. Supplied to auction with a V5C registration document and various bills and receipts, this car is offered without reserve.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

1992 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:51250Following the resounding success of the R107, the R129 Mercedes-Benz SL had a rather tough act to follow, as it still had to carry on the tradition of a fast and reliable grand touring convertible. The advantage designers had with the R129 was technology. By the time the final car rolled off the production line in 1989, these earlier models had been in production for 18 years with very little change. Therefore, the SL500 featured many new and innovative ideas, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi link rear axle. In addition to this was a fully operating electric roof, windows, door mirrors and seats, which made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The new SL also boasted a more powerful engine and the stopping power was aided by anti-locking braking for added reassurance. This desirable UK supplied 500 SL V8 Roadster is presented in metallic Bornite with grey leather trim. This example has just four former keepers with the last two, father and son, equating to the last 20 years of ownership. The car presents very well and even boasts the original stereo should you wish to replace the more functional modern unit. The history file is extensive with invoices and MoT certificates dating back to 1992. A full book pack including comprehensively stamped service history is found in the history file with 21 inserts, 11 of which are main dealer and the most recent service in September 2020 at 51,193 miles. Offered with an MoT test certificate until July 2022 and with the private plate, this is a very desirable low mileage, low owner example a perfect appreciating modern classic.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 Sportline Cabriolet Transmission: manualMileage:84785Mercedes-Benz expanded the well regarded W124 E-Class range to include a stylish coupé version launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1987, featuring a lower roofline and pillarless side treatment in the best Stuttgart coupé tradition. Built on a slightly reduced wheelbase, the interior was redesigned to accommodate four adults with individual rear seats and unique touches including the automatic arm that offered front seat passengers their seat belts and set the coupés apart from their four-door cousins. With open top cars making a comeback in the latter part of the 1980s, Mercedes-Benz engineers set about adding a cabriolet variant to the W124 line-up, extensively reinforcing the coupés bodyshell to make it more rigid, without compromising safety. In fact, there were over 1,000 modifications to the cabriolet’s body, including a system of protective head restraints, activated by a computer, in the event of a rollover. The hood was typically well finished, with heated rear glass and beautiful fitting, folding into the boot to completely disappear when stowed, while a wind deflector and power mechanism were two extra cost options. This lovely example of this sought after cabriolet model is presented in Blue/Black with a Mushroom leather interior. This Sportline Cabriolet comes with the extremely rare factory hardtop which was a very expensive option at the time and one which is rarely seen on the roads today. The car comes with electric windows, electrically operated hood and has a current MoT test certificate which expires in January 2022. The car is in wonderful condition throughout belying its age. A true retro Mercedes-Benz which is revered as one of the greatest family sports coupés and powered by the smooth six-cylinder, three litre engine, it is effortless to drive.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 2007 Smart Fortwo Convertible Brabus Red Edition Transmission: manualMileage:112734The Smart design concept began at Mercedes-Benz in the early 70s and late 80s. After brief backing by Volkswagen, the first model was released by Daimler-Benz in October 1998. Designed on the base of the Fortwo Brabus, this limited-edition example can be distinguished by its bright Intense Red colour and is powered by a 75bhp, three-cylinder turbo charged engine, with a top speed of 150km/h, unlike the other Fortwo cars that were traditionally restricted to 135km/h. The passenger compartment has seats and door linings in Alcantara leather and red top stitching, the speedometer, clock and turbo pressure gauge have the same red surrounds and the dashboard is covered in black Alcantara. Other than that, the car shares the major elements of the Brabus versions, such as the twin exhaust, 16” Monoblock alloys and various accessories to assist the passengers such as air conditioning and paddle shift steering wheel. This Fortwo Brabus Red Edition convertible has had three former keepers from new and was acquired by the current vendor in 2016. Presented in very good condition throughout the Brabus is showing circa 112,732 Kilometers (70,049 miles) on the odometer and comes with a sizeable history file including various old MoT test certificates, the current V5 registration document and the original service booklet containing many service records from Mercedes-Benz main dealers. One of just 15 convertible examples produced, this example with modest mileage is a very rare car indeed. Offered without reserve and with a very good history we are sure this limited-edition example will bring much enjoyment to its new custodian.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 2002 Volkswagen Golf GTi (20v turbo) Transmission: manualMileage:58121Launched in October 1997, the fourth generation Golf was elevated to ‘best-selling car in Europe’ by 2001. The absolute highlight was the 1.8litre petrol engine with twin overhead camshafts, five-valves-per-cylinder technology, turbocharger and intercooler. In conjunction with the six speed manual gearbox (fitted as standard to the rare 180bhp version), this engine delivered the exhilarating performance that the ‘hot-hatch’ generation had come to expect.Mr. Routley purchased this three door GTI new from Motorpoint for his wife (purchase invoice present) together with a Service Care Programme from a VW Dealership, where the car continued to be serviced until 2014. Paintwork is Black Magic Pearl with contrasting beige (heated front) leather Recaro style upholstery. The car has been diligently maintained and remains in excellent original, unmodified order throughout. The Montreal alloy wheels are immaculate and the original beige carpets, overmats and headlining appear pristine. The car drives tightly and performance is reported as superb. Timing belt kit & water pump was last changed at 52,506 miles, with less than 200 miles since the last major service and there will be a new MoT test certificate prior to the auction. The comprehensive history file backs up the service book and completes a very impressive package for this exciting and relatively scarce top-specification GTI.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

1973 Mercedes-Benz 350SLC Transmission: Mileage:The R107 and C107 Mercedes-Benz SL variants have long been revered amongst classic car devotees, being built to exacting engineering standards and with a subtle air of sophistication. These cars were built from 1971 through to 1989, the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The SL (R107) was a two-seat convertible with standard soft top, optional hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. Its sibling, the SLC (C107) or ‘SL Coupé’ derivative, was a two-door hardtop coupé with normal rear seats.  It was launched at the Paris Motor Show and signalled a shift in management thinking at Stuttgart about what made a successful luxury coupé. Sporting a longer wheelbase and sufficient interior room for four, the SLC was a sleek two-door car that combined the seating advantages of a four-door saloon with the style of a sporty coupé.  Originally registered on 1st May 1973 this SLC is finished in light blue metallic and has a velour interior. We are advised the V8 engine starts and runs well. These cars are from the era when Mercedes-Benz were known for building the best quality cars in the motor industry. Supplied with a V5C and offered for sale without reserve. Interested parties should note this is a library image of a similar vehicle. Images of the car are to follow Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1971 Austin A60 Van Transmission: manualMileage:90388The Austin Cambridge (sold as A40, A50, A55, and A60) was sold in several generations from September 1954 through to 1969 as cars and to 1971 as light commercials. It replaced the A40 Somerset but was entirely new with a modern unibody construction. The A40 number was re-used on a smaller car, the Austin A40 Farina, from 1958 to 1967. Initially the Austin Cambridge was only offered with a four-door saloon body and, although a few pre-production two-door models were also manufactured, they did not reach production. It had a modern body design with integrated wings and a full-width grille. Independent suspension was provided at the front by coil springs and wishbones but a live axle with anti-roll bar was retained at the rear, with drive to the wheels by means of a four-speed gear box controlled with a column-mounted lever. This A60 van was originally registered on 21st April 1971 and whilst it has been restored, it clearly has been a well looked after vehicle. The nature of a van is to be purchased for commercial use and as such generally have a hard life, but we are advised this example runs and drives well. To see an Austin Cambridge on the road is rare but to see a van is an exceptionally rare sight. Finished in grey with a red bench seat, this Austin is supplied with a V5C registration document and is offered for sale without reserve.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction.
