A circa 1900 mahogany bow fronted glazed and barred two door display cabinet with two shelves CONDITION REPORTS 69 cms in length x 59 cms in height x 23.5 cms at the deepest point. The top is bowing especially to the left hand corner, there are minor knocks and chips all over and there are areas where the glazing appears to have been filled slightly. Some discolouration to the wood, general wear and tear - in need of a good clean. See images for further details
Lot 518A
An oak corner cupbord with double linen fold panel door and guilloche carved frame work bearing label inscribed "The centre panel and top style of this door was formerly in St Barbaras Convent, Sandwich, Kent and is probably 14th or early 15th Century work." CONDITION REPORTS The top has splits where it is panelled and is very split to the side panels and damage to the door in various places. The door has been built around the panel. The knots are obvious and some have been refilled. There are large holes, possibly woodworm, to the left hand side panel, knocks dents etc throughout. Replacement handle. Measures approx 67.5 cm, back to front 45 cm. Has general wear and tear conducive with age and use - see images for more details

A rare early 19th century Black Forest automata and organ longcase clock, the walnut and parcel gilt hood surmounted by a royal blue armorial crest over a neo-classical oil depicting the rescue of a storm-stranded maiden and enclosing the fusee movement and cylinder which operates the bellows to play eight songs, the pair of chirping and turning yellow birds with opening beaks back-set by an oil depicting a Mediterranean villa, the enamelled clock face with Roman numerals, within an associated mahogany case, h. 228 cm, w. 70 cm, d. 45 cm CONDITION REPORT: Auctioneers highly recommend viewing for this lot. Interior/movement requiring attention- not operating fully (see video for example of which parts currently operate). Bellow arm broken. Automaton casing loose. Some flute tops missing. Some losses to enamelling on face. One bird deficient of leg. Interior case later painted white. Some foxing/discolouration to both oils. Interior requires cleaning. Movement and bellows deficient of guts/string. Split to cylinder. Later block supporting movement. Bubbles in glass door. Shrinkage to top of hood. Veneer to case lifting slightly in one place (minor). Case with a later lock. Case generally good and commensurate with age. Sold with the pendulum and three weights.

Oastler (Richard, factory reformer, 1789-1861) 5 Autograph Letters signed (2 to John Foster of the Patriot Office & 3 to Mrs Frith), together 7pp., 4to & 8vo, Fixby Hall, [Huddersfield] & The Fleet Prison, 19th March - 24th September 1832 & 7th May 1835 - 13th February 1844, discussing the difficulties of "The Patriot" and his own wish to give more help, "... if my blood were money you should have it", and referring to a recent speech by his friend, Michael Thomas Sadler, , presumably the recently published speech moving the second reading of the bill to reduce child labour to a maximum of ten hours, - 'The Ten Hour Bill', and to Mrs. Frith, "I rejoice that my poor little Factory Children are still the objects of your sympathy", and writing from the Fleet Prison, "Many ladies hon our me by calling - dare my friend, your daughter, enter the door of a Prison?, folds, browned. ⁂ "Oastler was committed to the Fleet prison for three and a half years on 9 December 1840" (Oxford DNB) for the non payment of debts.

An 18th century oak ventilated mural food cupboard, the front with twelve spindles, six of which are incorporated in the door, width 80cm, height 47cm, depth 28.5cm. (See illustration). Condition report: No signature or mark. Splashes of white paint on one side, some woodworm especially on bottom plank. All spindles okay, original nails, see images.
