A FRENCH PAINTED SOFTWOOD CABINET 19TH CENTURY 101cm high, 124cm wide, 57cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, chips, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use Old splits and cracks, some chips and lossesThe painted surface with flaking, chips, losses, distressed overall with underlying timber visible, the top 'marbled' surface less distressed but with some scratching and wear, also undulation and unevenness to the underlying boardsThe locks to the drawers, have been removed, there is some later timber inset to the drawer fronts where these would have been, the lock to the cupboard door is quite possibly original, there is a key and this lock operates at time of report, there is also a catch that is working to secure the other door This would appear to be painted softwood, probably pine. Stained wood bookcase by Maple & Co., with two astragal glazed doors enclosing a shelved interior above a pair of short drawers and doors to the cupboard base, stamped to drawer, 236cm high, 125.5cm wide and 49cm deep.CONDITION REPORT: One piece of beading is broken off, but present,  One piece to the left glazed door.  The beading has been re-glued to the cupboard base.  There is visible staining.  There are some later plastic stoppers attached to the top section.  Has age-related colour fading and surface marks throughout.
