* Empire Theatre, London. An oval enamelled metal plaque of the numeral 1, late 19th c., black numeral on white background with black outline border, a little wear to extremities, mounted as a door number on a wooden base with two screw holes, 9 x 11 cm. Accompanying the number is a small framed typed description label which reads, This No. 1 was bought by Dame Adeline's husband at that sale of the contents of the old Empire Theatre, London. It is of great sentimental value as it was on her dressing room door - later Lydia Kyasht and the Phyllis Bedells. The Empire Theatre, Leicester Square, opened on the 17th April 1884 and was closed and demolished on 22nd January 1927. On the same site, the Empire Cinema, in its third and current incarnation, opened on 19th December 1962. (2)
A 19thC mahogany two door display cabinet with lozenge astrigals and seated on a stand with carved ball and claw feet, 40" wide. NB. This cabinet, minus its stand, was housed in the property of lot 59 and was used to create a bureau bookcase and this may be of interest to the purchaser of the previous lot.

An oak bedside table by Bernard Wyers, the rectangular top with a moulded edge above a drawer and a door applied with a mask in 16th century style, 52cm wide Provenance; Bernard Wyers (1929-2007) was an award wining cabinet maker and carver working in Worcester. He won fourth place in a commonwealth cabinet making competition with a hymn board (now in Worcester Cathedral). He was also a member of the Worshipful Company of Carpenters.
