Barry Wilkinson (British, B. 1923) "The Notre Dame Cathedral" Original Watercolor painting on Illustration Board. Signed lower right. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original painting which was published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover for the Europa CEPT stamp of Luxembourg issued May 3, 1983. Luxembourg ranks as one of the world's smallest and oldest independent countries. It covers an area smaller than the state of Rhode Island ... and has about a third as many people as that state. Yet, despite its small size, Luxembourg is home to some of the world's greatest works of human genius. The tiny Duchy of Luxembourg has over 130 castles within its borders and some of the most beautiful cathedrals to be found in the world. One of the most memorable of these cathedrals is the Cathedral of Notre Dame which is displayed in this artwork. The cathedral was built between 1613 and 1618 with a Gothic interior and a Renaissance west door. The three naves at identical levels give this church the character of a "hall church," much like the Bristol Cathedral in England. The church at Notre Dame was promoted to the status of cathedral in 1870. Once each year, near Easter, large numbers of people flock to this beautiful cathedral to venerate the miraculous image of the Consolation of the Afflicted, patron saint of the city. This great center of religious festivities and art is indeed one of Luxembourg's foremost achievements of human genius. Image Size: 10.75 x 9 in. Overall Size: 13 x 11.5 in. Unframed. (B08187)

Lot 529

Robert Seabeck (Wyoming, B. 1945) "1896 Quadricycle" Signed lower left. Original Mixed Media painting on Paper. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original painting which appeared on the Republic of the Marshall Islands 60c 1896 Quadricycle stamp issued June 4, 1996. Born on a Michigan farm on July 30, 1863, Henry Ford moved to Detroit as a teenager where he eventually became a journeyman machinist at the Detroit Drydock Company. In 1896, while working as a power plant engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company, Ford built his first car -- the Quadricycle. Weighing only 500 pounds, this unique vehicle featured a buggy-type chassis that rolled on bicycle-type tires. The Quadricycle was powered by a four horsepower, two-cylinder, four-stroke, water-cooled engine. Its drive train consisted of a leather belt and chain. On June 4, 1896, Henry Ford finished assembling his first powered vehicle in a small shed in Detroit, only to discover it wouldn't fit through the door. Thus, the first test drive of the Quadricycle was delayed until Henry could widen the doorway with an axe. Image Size: 8 x 12.25 in. Overall Size: 15 x 22.5 in. Unframed. (B15404)

A wonderful example of a carburetted, dry-sump, UK car that has been maintained well throughout its life.CEH 677T dates from March 1978 and has been enjoyed by its present owner since July 2011Considerable sums have been invested to restore the 308’s bodywork to its former gloryRepair panels to lower parts of door skins and door casings, lower parts of front wings between wheel arches and doors and the wheel archesAt 74,000 miles, a major engine and gearbox rebuild was carried out by Italia AutosportThis work included, new valves (all-steel valves replacing the original sodium-filled inlet valves), new valve guides and valve stem oil seals, valve seats re-cut, and the cylinder heads skimmedNew liners, pistons and rings, main bearings and big-end shells were fitted. New synchro-rings were fitted to all gears and all timing belts, clutch, HT-leads and various smaller items including fastenings and seals were all replacedNow showing 76,000 miles and good to go, it’s accompanied by its original toolkit and jack in their respective leather bags, the original Driver’s Handbook and the Service book which displays six service stamps from 1978 when the car was sold new until 1982This is a wonderful example of a carburetted, dry-sump, UK car that has been maintained well throughout its lifeOfficially introduced at the Paris Salon in October 1975, the 308 GTB’s styling was created by Pininfarina. The stunning two-seat coachwork was all new but incorporated some of the old magic by blending aspects of the Dino 206/246 with the later 365 GT4/BB. Styling cues from the Boxer were the dihedral groove at bumper level splitting top and bottom, the plunging nose and the sail panels reaching back to meet a shallower spoiler, whilst the conical side air intakes and recessed concave rear window were familiar from the Dino. The 308 GTB employed a tubular steel chassis with independent coil spring/wishbone suspension front and rear, complemented by anti-roll bars, adjustable dampers and powerful disc brakes. At its heart was a Formula One-derived, all-alloy, quad-camshaft, 3.0-litre V8 engine, allied to a transversely mounted five-speed gearbox.CEH 677T dates from March 1978 and has been enjoyed by just six owners, its present since July 2011. During our custodian’s ownership, considerable sums of money have been invested to restore the 308’s bodywork and bring it back to its former glory, including repair panels to lower parts of door skins and door casings, lower parts of front wings between wheel arches and doors and repairs to the wheel arches. All of this work carried out to a very high standard by Chris Gregory in Knaresborough and a full photographic record is in the car’s history file.Italia Autosport in Meltham were entrusted with the mechanical aspects of returning the Ferrari to top form and, at 74,000 miles, a major engine and gearbox rebuild was carried out by John Pogson’s team. This work included, new valves (all-steel valves replacing the original sodium-filled inlet valves), new valve guides and valve stem oil seals, valve seats re-cut, and the cylinder heads skimmed. No significant bore wear was found but the cylinder liners had belled out at their bases, therefore new liners, pistons and rings were fitted. None of the crankshaft journals was scored but new main bearing, and big-end shells were fitted in line with good engineering practice. New synchro-rings were fitted to all gears in the gearbox although none of them were worn out significantly. All timing belts, clutch, HT leads and various smaller items including fastenings and seals were all replaced at the time of the build as you would expect from such experienced engineers.Currently showing 76,000 miles, this lovely 308 is good to go. It’s accompanied by its original toolkit and jack in their respective leather bags, the original Driver’s Handbook and the Service book which displays 6 service stamps from 1978 when the car was sold new until 1982. All the invoices for service, repairs and MOTs from 1982 up to the present time are contained in a large lever-arch file.Genuine UK right-hand drive 308GTBs are becoming increasingly rare on today’s roads and after all the restoration work has been carried out, all a new owner has to do is jump in and enjoy the benefit of someone else’s efforts. This is a wonderful example of a carburetted, dry-sump, UK car that has been maintained well throughout its life.*Forming part of A Sale of Ferraris in association with Ferrari Owners' Club of Great Britain, the buyer of this lot will be entitled to one years free membership with Ferrari Owners Club of Great Britain* SpecificationMake: FERRARIModel: 308 GTBYear: 1978Chassis Number: 24823Registration Number: 24823Transmission: ManualEngine Number: F106A021Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 76500 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Hugely desirable in its own right, the appeal of this 575M is enhanced by its fastidious maintenance record, immaculate presentation and a double dose of celebrity provenance.UK-supplied, right-hand drive, matching numbers in Giallo Fly with Nero Daytona leatherOptioned from new with: Fiorano Handling-kit 2 (factory fitted, not dealer added), Satellite navigation, interior carbon pack- including dashboard, centre-console, door trims, F1-paddles, seat sides and entry sills, Hi-fi system with sub-woofer, rear parcel shelf finished in leather, Yellow brake callipers, Scuderia wing shields and a 'Tubi' exhaustIts first owner was British rock legend, Eric Clapton followed by TV personality and Virgin radio star, Chris EvansAcquired by our vendor in July 2011 at 10,000 miles and has cherished it ever sinceComplete, on-time, service history (14 stamps) warranting the mileage of 18,318 Factory battery conditioner, original Ferrari book-pack, factory tool kit and a factory car-coverA very attractive Ferrari with outstanding provenance to support future values knowing very few 575s - if any - can boast such an interesting backstoryThe Ferrari 575M Maranello (Type F133) is a two-seat, two-door Grand Tourer launched by Ferrari in 2002 and was essentially an updated 550 Maranello featuring minor styling changes from Pininfarina.  Further developments included a redesigned interior and substantial mechanical improvements, including bigger brake discs, a larger and more powerful engine, improved weight distribution, refined aerodynamics and fluid-dynamics along with an adaptive suspension set-up (the four independent suspensions are also controlled by the gearbox, to minimise pitch). Two, six-speed transmissions were available, a conventional manual gearbox and, for the first time on a Ferrari V12, Magneti Marelli's "F1" automated manual gearbox. The 575 model number refers to total engine displacement (5.75 litre), whilst the 'M' is an abbreviation of modificata as featured on the later cars, meaning “modified” in Italian. This particular car was supplied new to British rock legend, Eric Clapton, on 19-3-2003 by Maranello Sales of Egham, Surrey. It's a UK-supplied, right-hand drive, all matching numbers car finished today in its original colour combination of Giallo Fly with Nero Daytona leather upholstery. Eric has signed the service book which was a request at the time by its second owner, TV personality and Virgin radio star, Chris Evans, who acquired the car direct from Eric and kept it up until 2010. So two petrol-head celebrities provided exceptional early provenance for this particular car, before being owned by Silverstone Auctions MD, Nick Whale. Our vendor acquired this car directly from Silverstone Auctions in July 2011 at a mileage of 10,000 and has cherished it ever since throughout the car’s life. Today the mileage is 18,318 and the service history is complete and on-time throughout, warranting the indicated mileage. The original factory fitted options were: Fiorano Handling-kit 2 (factory fitted, not dealer added), Satellite navigation, interior carbon pack- including dashboard, centre-console, door trims, F1 paddles, seat sides and entry sills, Hi-fi system with sub-woofer, rear parcel shelf finished in leather, Yellow brake callipers, Scuderia wing shields and a 'Tubi' exhaust. The fastidious private owner has supplied a proper detailed history file with all information present including a full service history (including cam belts changed on time)  with mostly Ferrari main dealers and the odd respected specialist. The most recent service was conducted by Dick Lovett, Swindon in August 2019 at 18,155 miles and the car has not been used since due to Covid restrictions. It's supplied with a factory battery conditioner, original Ferrari book pack with all the service and hand books, the factory tool kit remains intact in its original leather cases and a factory car-cover is also included. There are 14 service stamps in the service book to verify the car’s mileage and perfect maintenance record, along with a current MOT (no advisories) valid until late September 2021.This remains a very attractive Ferrari with outstanding provenance to support future values, and an excellent car to use and enjoy today, knowing very few 575s - if any - can boast such an interesting backstory.*Forming part of A Sale of Ferraris in association with Ferrari Owners' Club of Great Britain, the buyer of this lot will be entitled to one years free membership with Ferrari Owners Club of Great Britain* lSpecificationMake: FERRARIModel: 575M MARANELLO F1Year: 2003Chassis Number: ZFFBT55C000130114Registration Number: RX03 KBZTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 71355Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 18318 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

~ 2004 Maserati Cambiocorsa 4.2 Coupe Registration number: J16 MMF (cherished number) Date of first registration: 14 04 2004 VIN number: Zambc38C000012959 Engine number: 82848 MOT expires: N/A V5C present listing 9 former keepers Current mileage shown: 87222 4244cc Blue HPI checked. This 2005 Maserati 4200 Coupe is a very smart example of the Giugiaro-style grand tourer, presented in its handsome factory colour scheme. It is powered by the characterful Ferrari-built 4.2-litre F136R V8 engine, producing 385bhp, with rear-wheel drive via the six-speed Cambiocorsa automated-manual transmission with paddle shifters. The car forms part of a private collection and has been off the road for several years. Although in generally good condition, it requires some recommissioning work to make it road worthy. Presented in light blue with cream leather, the paintwork is in nice original condition with no evidence of rust or serious damage. There are, however, some scratches on the near side door and evidence of peeling lacquer or the rear bumper. The interior is generally in reasonable order with some cracking and discolouration to the leather seats and door trim. There are some scratches to centre consul trim and dash switches. The front light covers have become crazed and cloudy and there are the usual stone chips to the front end you would expect with a car of this age. Wheels have some kerb damage to the edges and tyres are worn. Mechanically it starts and runs well but may need some servicing work before it is ready for the road due to warning lights on the dashboard. The Maserati GT Coupe currently are a great investment and prices are now starting to climb as they have been recognised for their beauty and pedigree.

Lot 299

2004 BMW Z4 2.2 SE Convertible Registration number: LE04 PYU Date of first registration: 30 07 2004 VIN number: WBABT12040LP79515 Engine number: 26885670 MOT expires: 27 January 2022 V5C present listing 2 former keepers Current mileage shown: 95,725 2171cc Black HPI checked. BMW has a long history of making roadsters all the way back to its roots. The BMW Z4 arrived in 2002 to replace the BMW Z3 introduced in 1995. At first, the Z4 was only available as a roadster, however, in 2006 the German producer launched the coupe version. The Z4's body dimensions were larger, and its wheelbase was longer and wider. The suspension was also upgraded to be stiffer, and the car was equipped with a sport package which firmed up the steering. This very well presented 2005 model finished in black with black leather interior. The build quality of the Z series has long been celebrated and it shows in this particular example. Paintwork is original and in a very presentable state, as is the interior and trim. The rubber window seal shows signs of age and is perished and there are some small scratches to the paintwork on the lower part of the near side door. The hood is in excellent order with no damage or discolouration. Wheels show signs of age and tyres are about 50% worn. The car is described as running very well by the vendor and selects gears smoothly.
