EARLY 19TH CENTURY WELSH OAK EIGHT DAY LONG CASE CLOCK marked: Owen Owens, Llanerchymead, the hood having broken swan neck pediment above square aperture flanked by reeded pilasters, moulded arch waist door flanked by reeded quarter columns on a panelled base with stile feet. Painted 13" sq. face, having Arabic numerals, seconds dial and date aperture. Eight day two train movement with four baluster pillars, striking on one bell. Overall 220cm high approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Includes two weights and pendulum, case in fair condition, board shrinkage to the base and sides of hood, but otherwise no serious damage. Minor wear and tear accepted.
19TH CENTURY OAK EIGHT DAY LONG CASE CLOCK marked: T.O.S. Wilson, London, having broken swan neck pediment above arched aperture, flanked by reeded columns, the waist with strap work frieze, pointed arch cross banded door flanked by quarter pilasters, panelled base on tall bracket feet. Arched brass face, 20" x 14", having gilded spandrels and silvered Roman chapter ring, particularly having sweep seconds hand, two train, eight day movement with four baluster columns, striking on one bell. Overall 2.33m.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: May be a marriage, case appears to have later additions, although appearing originally late Geogian, face movement probably Victorian, overall a little dry, the glazed door is cracked and will also need relocating, feet are later replacements. Has two weighs and a pendulum and also a key.
EARLY 20TH CENTURY MAHOGANY THREE TRAIN LONG CASE CLOCK, having scrolled arched pediment above arched aperture, bevel glazed door revealing gongs and weights on a panelled base. Arched brass dial with gilded spandrels and silvered Roman chapter ring, unnamed.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Overall in fair condition, a little grubby, but no obvious damage, includes three cased brass weights and a brass bob pendulum.
EARLY 19TH CENTURY WELSH OAK LONG CASE CLOCK marked: Thomas Evans, Aberdare, having moulded broken swan neck pediment above arched aperture flanked by reeded columns, cross banded and shaped waist door flanked by quarter reeded pillasters on a panelled base with canted angles and later platform support. Part painted face with Eastern scenes and architectural spandrels, Roman numerals, seconds dial and date aperture, eight day, two train movement striking on one bell. Face 18" x 12", clock overall 225cm high.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Case is sound and clean, there is a false plate between the base and the movement so possibly not originally together, pendulum and one weight.
18TH CENTURY OAK CASED, EIGHT DAY, LONG CASE CLOCK, having later added broken swan neck pediment with ball and spike finials over an original moulded cornice with square aperture flanked by gilt metal mounted columns, plain waist door with oval shell inlay, vertically boarded base on later bracket skirt. 10.5" brass face with gilded spandrels and Roman silvered chapter ring, seconds dial and date aperture, 10.5" sq., eight day, two train movement with five baluster pillars, striking on one bell. Originally 195cm high, now 218 including finial.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Good clean condition, appears to have been recently restored, the movement being very polished, pediment to hood with brass finials is an addition, as is the skirted base, chip to top left hand corner and bottom left hand corner of waist door, includes weights and pendulum. Four weights, including two replacements. dial plate dimensions: 27.5cm x 27.5cm approx.
VICTORIAN WALNUT CREDENZA, overall with gilt metal foliate mounts and having arched, glazed centre door and bowed end panels over an arched apron with half turned supports. 38 x 117 x 107cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Rather grubby overall, some wear and tear commensurate with age, paint splashes, cracking to veneers, but basically sound.
VICTORIAN EBONISED BREAK FRONT CREDENZA, overall with gilt metal, foliate and mask mounts and having oval panel to the centre blind door set with applied hardstone decoration in the form of a bird amongst fruit and foliage, flanked by bowed glass end cupboards, each with three fitted shelves, on platform base. 45 x 187 x 120cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Overall in fair condition commensurate with age, the top has a split running approximately half its width, there are scuffs and minor losses to edges and angles in places, a number of losses to the applied fruit, particularly five larger pieces, all of the gilt metal mounts appear to be extant. The glass is good.
VICTORIAN EBONISED AND AMBOYNA BANDED BREAK FRONT CHIFFONIER, overall having gilt metal mounts and with banded and strung top over blind, arch panelled, banded and strung door with French porcelain figural panel to the centre, flanked by Corinthian column turned supports and with bowed, glazed doors revealing fitted shelves to the interior, on baluster turned feet. 45 x 154 x 109cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Scratched, scuffed and worn generally with age, but noting no significant damage or losses, runs of gilt metal beading missing in places.
MID 18TH CENTURY WELSH OAK CASED, THIRTY HOUR, LONG CASE CLOCK by Samuel Roberts of Llanfair, the hood with bird form broken arch pediment and ball and spike finials above a square aperture flanked by turned pillars, the waist with recessed, pointed arch door, within a cock beaded aperture, on a panelled base. 10" square brass face with foliate spandrels and Roman chapter ring around central field, engraved 155 Samuel Roberts, Llanfair, above single steel finger and arched date aperture. 30 hour movement striking on one bell. Brass faced pendulum, bob and single lead weight. 218cm high overall. (Note: Samuel Roberts, Llanfair Caereinion, Mid Wales, recorded as having died in 1800, lived at Pant y Tanws Farm, farmer and self taught clock maker. Most of his clocks appeared to be individually numbered. * See: Iorwerdd C. Peate, 'Clock and Watch Makers in Wales' page 72.)(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Dusty and grubby with wear commensurate with age, moulding around the base is added and base panel to the front is split and has added moulding, but overall, in good condition. Birds with brass balls pediment looks to be an addition above cornice - added with screwed top. Movement has four baluster pillars and looks original. Door lock missing. Brass knob added. Good patination and colour. Weight and pendulum present. No key. Movement looks original and as it should be.
EARLY 20TH CENTURY OAK TWO DOOR, BLIND PANELLED CUPBOARD, having dentil cornice, floral and maquetry inlaid panels with carved and moulded pilasters and grotesque mask mounts, standing on circular pad feet. 60 x 152 x 200cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Overall in good condition for age, general wear and tear as expected, some losses to mouldings in places, the back of the cornice has been cut, probably to be fitted in place. No woodworm. Doors are not warped.
LATE VICTORIAN CARVED OAK MIRROR BACKED SIDEBOARD, profusely carved with flower heads, lion mask mounts, figural columns, Green Man motifs, stylised wild cat heads. The mirror back above two drawers and two blind panelled cupboards, all raised on platform base. 153 x 60 x 185cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Generally okay, one or two splits at the back corners and a slight loss to back left corner, mirror is slightly loose at the bottom and showing some wear to border, split across top of sideboard, minor vertical splits to side right hand panel, some drying out and surface wear beading loss around left blind panelled door, one or two of the teeth to the lion mounts are chipped.
LATE VICTORIAN CARVED, STAINED OAK, TWO TIER BUFFET OR SIDEBOARD, having carved super structure above two lion mask mount drawers with figural columns above blind panelled cupboard door depicting topers in an interior, raised on stile type feet. 121 x 49 x 142cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Generally okay, surface wear and scratches although commensurate with age, one or two chippings to superstructure, vertical splits also in superstructure. The right hand figural column has lost bagpipes and hands, a little dry in places.
IMPOSING EARLY 20TH CENTURY MAHOGANY THREE TRAIN LONG CASE CLOCK marked: Elkington, the hood and case overall heavily moulded, decorated with masks, strap work, ferned and reeded pillasters and stylised mouldings, swan necked hood over arched aperture, bevel glazed door revealing three brass cased weights and four steel gongs, flanked by quarter pilasters on a panelled base, standing on ball and claw feet. Arched, gilded face, 16" x 11.5", having silvered Arabic chapter rings, chime silent indicator and seconds dial, overall decorated with relief foliate decoration. Three train movement striking on five tubular gongs. Overall 2.3m high approx.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Appearing in good overall condition, wear and tear commensurate with age, scuffed and marked in places but no serious damage or losses, includes winder, three brass cased weights (2+1) and a brass bob pendulum. The larger of the weights needs a replacement hook.
CHINESE LACQUERED AND GILDED UPRIGHT, TWO DOOR CABINET, having two fitted shelves to the interior, the doors each with two pairs of gilded relief panels of birds amongst foliage and geometric designs, both being geometrically pierced overall on turned legs. 71 x 47 x 167cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: General wear and tear commensurate with age but basically sound.
