A 16th Century Franco Flemish Oak Buffet. The dentil moulded top above an upper cupboard with three moulded panels centred by moulded annular appliqués and divided by stop fluted tapering pilasters: The two outer door panels sliding back to reveal hidden keyholes, above two midsection frieze drawers with a turned pendant finial to the centre and columnar supports either side. The planked base shelf with raised edge moulding and panelled back, 53 ins (140 cms) high, 51½ ins (131 cms) wide, 19 ins (48 cms) deep.
A Decorative Jacobean Style Carved & Inlaid Oak Court Cupboard incorporating period elements. The upper section having a marquetried frieze with carved grotesque face masks either side above ebonised & astrigal ringed four-column supports flanking a canted cupboard. The arcaded central door and side panels inlaid with urns of scrolling flowers & foliage beneath carved arches enriched with undulating vine, and divided by ebonised half column appliqués and oval bosses. The lower section housing a marquetried frieze drawer above carved S-scrolls of foliage overhanging a pot-board base. The front supports raised with caryatids swagged in drapery and adorned with turned appliqués. The geometrically moulded back board enriched with inlay. 63¼ ins (161 cms) high, 48 ins (122 cms) wide, 17 ins (43 cms) deep.
A Fabulous Quality 17th Century Flemish Oak Two Part Cupboard richly carved throughout with elaborate panels; some centred by protuberant heads, depicting figural scenes, lavishly scrolling flowers & foliage with caryatids, Atlantes, cherub heads and leonine adornments. The upper section having a deep canopy with carved frieze on curved figural supports overhanging a twin door cupboard. The base section with two further ornately carved doors over a twin panels base drawer raised on carved block feet, 86½ ins (220 cms) high, 59 ins (150 cms) wide, 27½ ins (70 cms) deep. [From the Estate of Sir Charles Hedworth Williamson, Tenth Baronet, sold by auction upon the Premises of Whitburn Hall, Whitburn, Co. Durham, 21st October 1946].
A Fine Late 17th Century Eight Day Clock Movement by John Williamson of Leeds (previously London). The 10¼ ins (26 cm) square brass dial inscribed along the bottom; John Williamson Leedes Fecit, with a silvered chapter ring encircling a finely matted centre incorporating a silvered seconds ring, ringed winding holes and a calendar aperture surrounded by engraved scrollwork. The corners adorned with cherub head spandrels. The replica walnut case with a flat topped hood decorated with a fretwork frieze and integral barley twist corner posts. The trunk door edged in ovolu moulding with a glazed oval pendulum aperture. 74½ ins (189 cms) in height.
A 19th Century French Walnut Panetière or Food Cupboard. The apexed pediment carved with a basket of trailing flowers above spindled sides. The centrally hung door with pierced lyre shaped panel, enclosing a slatted shelf within. Standing on turned acorn feet 35 ins (89 cms) high, 38 ins (97 cms) wide, 18¾ ins (47.5 cms) deep.
A Late 17th Century Eight Day Longcase Clock Signed Nathaniel Hodges, London. The 10 inch (25.5 cms) square brass dial having a silvered skeleton chapter ring encircling a matted centre with ring turned winding holes, a subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture. The base of the dial signed Nathaniel Hodges Londini Fecit, the corners adorned with scrolling cherub head spandrels. The woodgrained case having a converted rising hood with pierced pediment carved with a cherub's head and flowers above integral barley twist corner columns. The trunk door with fielded panels and a glazed oval aperture to the centre. 80½ ins (204.5 cms) high.
A 19th Century French Renaissance Style Oak Dressoir. The canted cupboard carved in relief with protuberant heads encircled by laurel wreaths amidst zoomorphic scrolls of foliage. The centre door hung on iron strap hinges above a frieze drawer flanked by pendant finials and raised on carved uprights with a triple linenfold panelled back leading down to a pot shelf base, 65½ ins (167 cms) high 39½ ins (100 cms) wide, 22 ins (6 cms) deep.
An 18th Century French Provincial Chestnut & Cherry-wood Armoire/Cupboard. The moulded cornice above a carved frieze and full length triple panel door enriched with carving; the arched upper one decorated with a pair of birds flanking a shell motif embellishment with punch-worked stars. The door with scrolling iron escutcheon and finialed rod hinges, opening to reveal shelves within. An 18th Century Eight Day Mahogany Longcase Clock by George Clapham of Brigg (1767-1790). The 11¾ ins (30 cm) arched dial having a painted moon-roller below engraved maker's name; George Clapham Brigg. The chapter ring encircling an engraved centre depicting a sailing boat and castle, with a calendar aperture and recessed seconds dial. The flame figured case having a swan-neck pediment to the hood surmounted by spired brass ball finials with blind fretwork to the corners above fluted side columns. The trunk with recessed quarter columns flanking a moulded arch topped door. 96 ins (245 cms) in height.
An Early 18th Century Eight Day Clock Movement by Obadiah Cluer of London. The 12 inch (30.5 cm) brass arched dail edged in bands of herringbone engraving and having a convex maker's roundel to the arch inscribed Obed Cluer London flanked by scrolling dolphin mounts, above a silvered chapter ring with matted centre incorporating a subsidiary seconds dial, ringed winding holes and a calendar aperture embellished with engraved birds and a basket of fruit. The replica walnut & mahogany case having a flat topped hood with fret-work backed in silk to the corners above integral columns flanking the dial, and a glazed pendulum display to the trunk door edged in moulding. 88½ ins (225 cms) in height.
A 19th Century Alpine Folk Art Cupboard/Wardrobe of Painted Pine. The tall, floor standing piece having a moulded cornice with sponged decoration above a full length door painted with The Madonna in a panel dated 1835 above a lower panel depicting an urn of flowers on a diagonal wood-grained ground.
