A coin balancing skill game penny arcade machine, consisting of a bending metal track to steer a coin around, decorated with painted vehicles, with single handle control, in an oak cabinet with hinged paneled side door and glazed hinged top, 68cm x 82cm x 54cm. Provenance; purchased from the SS Empire Emporium, York closure in 1985. In 1987 it reopened as the Grand Opera House, YorkCondition report; cabinet in need of restoration, some woodworm to it and the track is full of worm holes, the coin feed from the outside is missing so no connection to the board, the board appears to work fine

An early 19th century 8-day mahogany cased longcase clock, the case with ¾ length door, square reeded columns, swan-necked pediments, ogee bracket feet, inlaid stringing, 13 inch square dial with inset ‘hatchet’ rolling moon, Arabic numerals, date indication, paintings showing representative figures of the continents to the corner, signed for John Barry, Ratliff Bridge (Loomes lists John Barry at Bolton le Moor in 1824), matched brass hands, with weights and pendulum, 220cm tall.

Interesting and unusual bronzed Gothic carriage clock timepiece, the 2.25" hexagonal chapter ring enclosing a foliate pierced centre over a relief panel depicting a religious scene with a seated angel and lady praying, the sides cast with twelve roundels depicting figures representing the agricultural months, the back with locking hinge door opening to reveal the movement with platform escapement, over a relief panel with figures seated by a Gothic pedestal, surmounted by a pierced top section with hinged handle formed with griffins 7.5" high ** This clock is probably by Alexis Falize and is stamped to the base AF within a lozenge and inscribed depose. Exceptional gilt-brass giant mantel chronometer of exhibition quality with Kullberg's flat rim balance, the dial signed Clerke, 1 Royal Exchange within an oval cartouche to the bottom of the engine turned gilt mask, the 6" silvered chapter ring with painted Roman numerals and blued steel hands, the engine turned centre with subsidiary dials for seconds and up/down, six dial feet to the substantial movement secured by five gilt brass pillars with blued steel screws to the front and back plates, the rose-gilt large rectangular platform with blued steel helical spring high quality Earnshaw spring detent escapement with jewelled locking stone, the Kullberg Hybrid balance wheel with bimetallic flat rim, wedge shaped heat compensation weights and outer timing screws, the high quality wheel train with maintaining power to the massive chain fusee, polished steel arbours and pinions, the case with moulded base, heavy bevelled glasses to the sides and similarly glazed top, the rear door with securing latch to the base and bevelled glass set with hand-set and winding shutters in the style of Dent, the wheels secured to each arbour by three individual screws with a moulded ebonised turntable base, chronometer 12.25" high; with key* Victor Kullberg was born in Sweden, apprenticed in 1840 and worked as journeyman to the famous Swedish watchmaker Urban Jurgensen in Copenhagen. He moved to London in 1851, initially making top quality escapements for other clockmakers, but he soon began to supply complete watches and chronometers. He had success at international exhibitions and in the International Time Trials, winning the Greenwich Time Trials on several occasions. In 1864, Kullberg won his first Greenwich time trial with chronometer no. 760, which he had fitted for the first time with his famous 'flat rim' balance. Noted for its ability to compensate for temperature error, the flat rim balance with good looks. The Astronomer Royal, in his report to the Clockmakers Company on the subject of chronometer 4066 by Kullberg, which had again won first prize, said that 'this was the finest chronometer they had ever had on trial'.A chronometer case and of this size, bears close resemblance to the giant examples by Frodsham and, in particular, the ultra-complicated enormous exhibition clock by M F Dent (for reference see Derek Roberts Carriage and Other Travelling Clock. Schiffer 1993, p318 fig 21-20) not only are the proportions of the mouldings similar but also the high quality brass shutters set into the thick lead glass rear door are similar to that of Dent. An identical Clerke chronometer, probably this example, was featured in Clocks 'Number One' issue page 54, illustrated and featured selling at auction for £3,600 in 1977

Good English walnut single fusee bracket clock, the 6" brass chapter ring enclosing an engine turned centre and signed Viner, Regent Str either side of twelve o'clock, the five pillar movement with long shoulders to the shaped plates and with locking pendulum, within a well made later stepped case inlaid with burr walnut and chevron banded spandrels, surmounted by a caddy top and brass carrying handle, 15.25" high (pendulum and keys)** This clock bears a rectangular plaque fitted to the inside of the back door inscribed Repaired by Camerer Cuss & Co, 54 & 56 New Oxford St., London est. 1788. It is probable that these makers were responsible for making the case in the early part of the 20th century
Good oak and ebonised double fusee Black Forest cuckoo clock, probably by Johann Baptist Beha, the 5.75" dial fitted with an arched plaque under twelve o'clock inscribed Camerer Kuss & Co, with further Camerer, Kuss, Tritschler & Co labels fitted to the inside and outside back door within a turned pillared case surmounted by a spire finial, 30" high (with original hands and cuckoo, both detached)**One of the labels on the clock is from the Oxford Street 1862 Exhibition putting the clock around that date and in the golden period of Beha's output**Although the bellows have been replaced, the clock essentially is presented in good original unrestored condition
