A late 19thC American rosewood cased mantel clock, of Masonic interest, the tin dial painted with Roman numerals, exposing a central brass wheel shaped chapter ring, 30 hour movement with bell strike, the case of Gothic architectural form with a glazed two section door, the lower section decorated with a set and compass, bears paper label for the E N Welch Manufacturing Company, Forestville, Conn., with pendulum and key, 36.5cm high, 19cm wide.

Thomas Tuxford of Boston. A 19thC oak cased longcase clock, with swan pediment top, with painted bulbous step, and a painted floral dial with eight day movement above single trunk door, with cross banded inlaid and shell and marquetry banking on bracket feet, 222cm high, 48cm wide, 25cm deep.
An early 20thC mahogany vitrine, with shaped marble top, gilt metal adornments throughout with part glazed door, concave sides and Vernis Martin panels to the base with landscapes and two figures on cabriole legs, 157cm high, 94cm wide, 41cm deep. Provenance: Upon instructions from the executors of Mrs Sandra Mapletoft (Dec'd) who purchased this as Lot 619 on 2nd May, 1991 from The Bourne Auction Rooms with a hammer price of £1,500 on the day.

CHARCOT JEAN BAPTISTE: (1867-1936) French Polar Scientist and Doctor. A.L.S., `J.B.Charcot´, one page, 4to, Bougival, 30th September 1912, to Doctor Tartarin, in French. Charcot sends a cleanly written letter to his close friend and companion during the Polar expeditions of 1905 to 1910, Doctor Tartarin, expressing his joy having learned that his correspondent will visit him and his wife, and invites him for dinner, further stating in part `We are at my mother-in-law´s home, Madame Cléry, who will be very pleased to meet you for the first time, but because we have just today buried her sister Madame Gérome, we will receive you in the most complete privacy´, Charcot further explains how to reach his mother-in-law´s house, and says `Once at Bougival, either at the tramway office or at the wine trader next door, you can ask for the Cléry property and in 5 minutes you will be here´ VG to EX
DE FUNES LOUIS: (1914-1983) French actor and comedian. An unusual set of eight folio pages (two bifolium) neatly removed from a scrapbook dedicated to De Funes and featuring numerous magazine and newspaper portraits of the actor, many in costume or scenes from his films, signed and inscribed by De Funes to the centre of the first page, in French, sending his good wishes for 1960, further annotated in French by De Funes to two other pages, in one stating that he did not appear in a certain film and in another remarking that his film debut was in La Tentation de Barbizon and that he opened a door.
