Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and useOld splits and cracksChips and lossesPlease note this was designed without handles all the drawers and the cupboard door are 'blind' there are three keys present (one for each of the locks) and these are operating the locks at time of report. Without the keys it is a challenge to open the elements. the frieze drawer to the kneehole area is fully blind and there is no key - there is a small indentation to the underside where there is effectively access to openThe drawer to the side is a cellaret drawer and the lining here is ripped and with losses, the underlying timber also with losses and signs of wear and water stainingThere has previously been a rail fitted to the rear, this is missing but the metal sockets remain to the top, there are old marks and darker colour to the timber in these areas alsoOverall this sideboard is solid and stable on its legs Please refer to additional images for visual reference to conditionCondition Report Disclaimer
A mahogany side cabinet in Regency style, mid 19th century, with inverted breakfront arrangement of cupboards, 90cm high, 153cm wide, 35cm deepCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, old splits and cracks, some chips and losses, gouges and marks to the sides, Overall this is in untidy condition and would benefit from a clean, polish, and some light restoration to the missing and worn veneers. The gilt metal areas dirty and discoloured and also would benefit from a clean.There is no key for the central cupboard door, the outer doors with ball-bearing type catches. There is a shelf missing to the central cupboard, a replacement would need to be sourced by the purchaser if wished. A George I figured walnut and feather banded cabinet, circa 1725, now on an associated walnut stand, probably circa 1725 and later, 194cm high, 112cm wide, 39cm deep overallCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and useAs catalogued this appears to incorporate circa 1725 and later elements. The base is entirely associated also and is thus a marriage. The metalware appears to have been applied later, probably at time of marriage to unite the items. The glass plates are smoked and bloomed and are not highly reflective.There are various chips, losses, and replacements to veneers and mouldings. The bun feet with signs of wear.The doors to the upper section were locked shut at time of original report, the lock appears to have been opened now (there is no key so Dreweatts are not sure how) and the interior is visable. Please see additional images for details. This may well have been forced as there is some cutting to the wood at the keeper of the door. The interior with three shelves, there are various marks and stains to the interior - it may well benefit from a clean. A Regency mahogany side cabinet, circa 1815, the central pair of pleated silk doors opening to a shelved interior, flanked by a doors opening to a shelf and a fitted drawer to one side, and a door opening to three sliding trays to the other, 92cm high, 168cm wide, 48cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use,This did not originally have any handles, these were conceived as blind frieze drawers - the handles are therefore later additions and not how this piece was conceived, they are however stylistically correct for the piece. The silk pleating is probably more recent, this almost certainly had it originally this was probably restored when the handles were fitted, the piece also has a polished appearance suggesting a restorer has had this previously. The drawer linings with stains and marks, the cellaret drawer previously divided, these divisions have been cut back, there are also losses to the lining. This has all three slides. A carved ebonised wood figure of a Blackamoor, early 20th century, modelled carrying a birdcage, 39cm highCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and useOld splits and cracks, some chips and losses, the lower left arm with old crack and split and repair, the arm holding the tray has joins and also with the cloak - thee may have been carved as separate elements and joined. The head and face with crack through the whole element. The figure wobbles on his baseThe birdcage is a separate loose element that sits on the outstretched tray - this has a working door to one side. This has surface corrosion and signs of age - likewise the tray.
