The bull would have been made originally entirely in hollow bronze, with an access door through which the condemned entered and were locked inside. It was fitted with an acoustic device that converted their screams into the sound of a bull when a fire was set under it, heating the metal until the person inside roasted to death. This bull was fabricated in glass fibre for the 2 part, "Touched by the Gods", finale of Series One of Atlantis featuring in the first few minutes of Episode 13 - http://www.tvids.net/watch660/Atlantis/season-01-episode-13-Touched-by-the-Gods-(2)
