A Gutermann cotton reel shop fitting, having 20 drawers above a cupboard door, 42 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB Very much in a market fresh condition, rather than being restored, all with mahogany effect red staining, all drawers with handles, with the bottom drawer missing the top part of the wooden drawer front (that's the horizontal top piece of wood). The cover below has just half a knob of a door handle. The base is lacking quite a bit of the staining, possibly old water damage, and door having been attacked by vacuum cleaners. Overall good condition, with writing 'Soie A Coudre Guttermann' to both sides and also to the cupboard door front.
A late Victorian oak and ash breakfront library bookcase, having two pairs of glazed doors above two pairs of panel doors, on a plinth base, 258 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB Overall condition quite good, the cornice is possibly an association, it is quite a small item, with a piece spliced into the rear left hand, and the same on the right as well. The glaze bookcase top has previously been cut into three sections, and is now held together with metal plates and screws, the breakfront base has a few stain marks, the central doors enclose a recess and six small drawers, with the lock and area having been changed and altered, also damage by the lock (on the right hand door) where it has knocked into the opposing door, and the vertical section, that hides the division between the two doors nailed and repaired, the left hand door is missing its key escutcheon, and there is a small split to the right hand door, the plinth base has clearly had years of being attacked by a vacuum cleaner. There is one key which only seems to open the top left glazed door, with the bottom panel doors left and right still being locked. 264 cm high Key for locked bottom doors now located and cupboard doors unlocked.
An oak dresser, the plate rack incorporating two cupboards, the base having three frieze drawers, on turned legs, 188 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB The top looks 19th century, the base 18th century. The proportions of the top are all a bit mean, with narrow back boards. A section of wood is missing above the right hand door, the base is quite a good colour, with a three plank top, with numerous old scratches, stains and marks. There is a section let in to keep two boards together, approx. 6 x 5 cm, the handles are replaced, and incomplete. The back legs look later, and don't quite match the front. A few old worm holes.
