A LOVELY 19TH CENTURY CHINESE HARDWOOD / HONGMU CARVED DRAGON TWO-DOOR CABINET, the door panels carved deeply to depict two roundel's with the scenes of dragons, the surrounding framework carved to depict dragons, chilongs and good fortune symbols, the side panels further carved to depict birds amongst flora, 110cm high x 122cm wide x 52.5cm deep.
A Regency mahogany bookcase, early 19th century, 142cm high, 161cm wide, 36cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old chips and splits. Some additional dark ink marks and scratches to top and interior shelves.Two blocks of timber have been loosely sandwiched between the shelves of the lower section to help support. No key present. the lower doors are open. The lock to the glazed door is fixed in the locked position but the doors can still be opened. Some fading to timber. A Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase, circa 1815, the fall front secretaire drawer opening to a fitted interior incorporating pigeon holes, small cupboards and an inset writing surface, 241cm high, 97cm wide, 47cm deepCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use,Some old chips and losses, old splits and cracks, The leather inset is later, this hides the rear of the handles, Dreweatts cannot guarantee these are original to the piece, there is a chance they are later replacements (probably fitted at the time of the leather being replaced). There are a quantity of shelf supports present, Dreweatts do not guarantee all are present to support all shelves. The shelves are sold with the piece but are not presented supported at the salerooms.Overall this has been polished, The interior of the glass doors appear to have been previously fabric lined, there are tack marks where this has been, one piece of glass is cracked-through. There are various keys to operate the locks, the cabinet doors do not appear to have a key, and one small cupboard door to the interior is also locked shut. A George III mahogany linen press, circa 1800, the oval panel banded doors enclosing a hanging space, above four long graduated drawers, 221cm high, 128cm wide, 56cm deepCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use,As catalogued the interior has been converted to hanging. This has been done with the addition of a wooden rail and various hooks, there also appears to be some later brackets to supporting the now missing slides. The handles appear to be the original - there is one key present to operate the cupboard door, there is also a later jamb to the door to act as a retaining catch. There are no keys for the drawer but all elements are unlocked at time of reportThe oval panels to the doors have warped and bowed, one quite noticeably - please see photo's for details. Y A William IV rosewood cased bracket clock, Taylor, Bristol, circa 1835, the eight-day bell striking movement with 9.5inch brass Roman numeral dial inscribed for the maker to the centre, the case with pagoda top and moulded and panelled base with flanking scrolls, 53cm high, together with a rosewood bracket, circa 1835 and later, 36cm high, 37cm wide, 21cm deep Condition Report: The case with marks, knocks, scratches, consistent with age and use, old splits and cracks especially to he pagoda. the pagoda top has broken off - this is present with the lot, this will require restoration, there are signs of old glue in this area from previous repair. Signs of polish residue tot he the timber near the dial, the centre of the dial with area of wear.The clock will tick when wound, and the movement appears to have been cleaned fairly recently - but Dreweatts have not tested the movement and cannot make any guarantees or comments as to accuracy or if the movement is working we suggest getting the clock appraised by a professional clock restorer prior to use.
