CONDITION REPORT: Top of larger unit: 4 marks to top where varnish has lifted. Repair to top of one door where hinge has cracked wood. Smaller unit: one small chip at edge of plank top on one plank. Wear commensurate with age and use. Large: 183 x 61cm, height 102cm. Smaller: 122 x 48cm, height 104cm.

Shortman, Newnham to the centre under a calendar aperture, the case inlaid with boxwood lines and with short door flanked by canted sides, the hood surmounted by a moulded swan neck pediment and brass ball and spire finial, 86" high (pendulum and weight) *The front plate of the movement is stamped S.S. no. 16 1835 and the pendulum is also stamped. This will have been one of the first clocks that Samuel Shortman made at the age of around twenty
