An early George III pollard oak eight day longcase clock, the caddy top above 12 inch brass dial inscribed 'Foden, Congleton' with date arched aperture above long shaped door, rounded quarter pillars to a plinth base, height approx 210cm.Thomas Foden of Congleton is registered as working in the town between 1753 and 1785.Additional InformationThis is a good honest clock which has not had any repair over the years, apart from a couple of minor pieces of spliced wood to the carcass. It does however require attention, the wood on the right hand side of the plinth base has lifted, there is a split to both the base and the door. Some old signs of woodworm to the back panels which are heavily worn in parts. There are some knocks and small sections missing and done a long time ago to the upright pillars. The Dial movement and case look as if they have been together since day one. The clock is sold with winding key, case key, pendulum and two weights.
A good 19th century rosewood and inlaid cased music box, the lid decorated with instruments and music score enclosing a replaced card detailing eight airs above glazed door with 11 inch drum and bird hammers striking on six bells, width 56cm.Additional InformationThe box has clearly been well and professionally restored, it is presented in very good condition, no teeth missing, no rusting or failing parts. A few surface marks to the wood as you would expect commensurate with age but overall a good example.
WILLIAM COULTON OF YORK; a George II mahogany longcase clock, with a square brass face, the silvered chapter ring set with Roman and Arabic numerals, inscribed maker's name, height approx 216cm.Additional InformationDial and movement likely associated to the case, slight warping to the door, few old repairs to the plinth and woodwork, dial has been cleaned and has left surface marks around it with fine scratches to the chapter ring also.
