The three-train movement playing six different tunes on fourteen bells, plus striking hours on one large additional bell. German - late 19th century Arts and Crafts oak cased 8-day mantle clock, light oak case with a clear polished grain, flat top with gallery to the rear and turned wooden finials, glazed door to the front flanked by two turned pilasters, rear case door with a silk backed lyre sound fret, brass dial with matted centre and cast spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and fleur di Lis steel hands, polished square movement plates with a twin train count wheel striking movement sounding the hours and half hours on a coiled gong. A LARGE CHINESE GREY POTTERY MODEL OF A FARM YARD, HAN DYNASTY (206BC - 220AD), OXFORD TL TESTED. Of square form with simulated tiled pitched roofs over the entrance and half of the farm. The farm including an enclosed pen with working door, an adjacent area with two farmers, one holding an 'animal form staff' while pounding grain with a working simple 'trip hammer', the other figure seated beside holding a tray. The front area with a well and throughout the yard are various animals to include pigs, chickens, ducks and geese. Together with an Oxford Thermoluminescence test Sample No. C97d85, dated 25 June 1997, consistent with the suggested period of manufacture of the Han dynasty 206BC - 220AD. Approx. 38cm x 38cm x 35cm. Ref: Animal form staffs were used in the Han dynasty to afford privileges to seniors. The staff held by this farmer could be an indication of status or age as shown in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.Overall good condition with no obvious signs of damage.
