An early 19thC longcase clock, the arched dial painted with flowers and with a central moon phase, decorated with a sailing ship, etc., with an eight day four pillar movement in an inlaid oak and mahogany case, 222cm high. Upon initial inspection splits and repairs around glazed door. Dial repainted, plinth replaced, general knocks and marks, etc.

A Georgian mahogany bracket clock by John Kirkwood Redpath, with two train chain driven fusee movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell, the brass dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary Arabic numerals. Height excluding brass carrying handle 44 cm, width 29 cm, depth 19.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. There are some minor surface marks and scratches but no serious problems. There has been some very old damage to the front right hand bottom corner of the door. This is not problematic. There are other minor stress fractures but the colour is generally good. We have the key and pendulum. The clock is not currently operating as the fusee chain to the going train is detached from the main barrel so some attention is required. If weight is applied to the going train the movement does tick. The movement appears to have had some work in recent times and is very clean but does require further work to get it properly running.

A 1920's mahogany bracket clock of 18th century design by Junghans, the 14 cm dial with silvered chapter ring and spandrels to the eight day three train B08 movement, striking with Westminster chime on nine gongs, contained in case with arched top and turned columns to front, keys and pendulum for same (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in working order. The case is in good overall condition apart from minor surface wear and slight damage to the fabric panel t the back door. Internally it is possible that the mechanism has been seated on a new seat board and the rear gong altered in its position.

An Arts and Crafts inlaid mahogany mantle clock, with brass dial with Arabic numerals and single train movement. Height 27 cm, width 15 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have both the key and pendulum. The movement is fully wound and is currently only ticking for 10 or 15 seconds or so. . The case is structurally sound but does have stress fractures to the front panel. There are also nibbles and scuffs around the feet. There are other minor surface marks and scuffs as one would expect. The rear door closes as it should and all hinges and brasswork are original.

A Victorian black slate and marble mantle clock, with single train movement. Height 30 cm, width 24.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds and appears to be ticking away. The dial is in generally good order. The door closes as it should and the glass is not cracked. The slate and marble case is in good condition generally with only very minor edge nibbles. The rear door is present. We have the pendulum but no key.

An 18th century oak cased longcase clock by Savage of Clifton, the 26 cm brass dial with chapter ring, spandrels and calendar aperture to the 30 hour movement striking on a bell. Contained in case with turned pillars to hood and shaped trunk door. 214 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: We have the pendulum and weight. The movement appears to be ticking away and striking when advanced. The movement is a little dirty but as stated seemingly operational. The case itself is in generally good condition also. There are no issues with the hood or glass. The trunk door closes as it should and is not warped. The sides of the trunk are in generally good order. The left hand side rear does have some traces of old woodworm which appears in our opinion to be long gone. The base of the case is probably later to the main case but is in good order and in keeping. There is a stress fracture along the join of the two front planks. The bracket feet are in generally good order with only minor surface scuffs.

A George III mahogany longcase clock by Thomas Dodd Chester, with verre eglomise between the swans neck pediment and with glazed door enclosing the 13 1/4" square arched dial with moon phase and eight day striking movement by Thomas Dodd Chester, the case with long trunk door flanked by fluted quarter column corners, the base with canted angles and all raised on bracket feet. Height 253 cm, maximum width 54 cm (see illustration).
Lot 1214
A Georgian oak dresser base, with matched Delft rack. Height 203 cm, width 171 cm, depth 52.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top of the base is in generally good order with no significant cracks or splits. There are some old ring marks and the usual marks that one would expect from a piece of this age. The piece is structurally very sound. The side panels have shrinkage gaps between the planks but no significant movement. The doors are not warped. They both close as they should. Again there are some minor stress fractures to the door panels. The drawer fronts are all in good condition with no losses. There is some wear around all of the lock escutcheons. The left hand door lock is present. The right hand door does not have a lock. The lock is missing from the centre drawer. The base moulding is in good condition all round as are the stile feet. The shelf boards and boards between the cupboards and drawers are pine. There is evidence of woodworm in these panels. In our opinion this is old worm which has gone however treatment would be sensible.
Lot 1231
A George III mahogany longcase clock by Thomas Thompson Liverpool, with eight day striking movement with moon phase, dial width 13 1/4", the case with long trunk door flanked by fluted quarter column corners with well figured panel base raised on ogee moulded bracket feet. Height 235 cm, hood width 56.5 cm(see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking as it should. It seems to be keeping good time. The moon phase appears to be working as does the date. The case is in generally good condition. There are some cracks to the verre eglomise in the swans neck. The hood door is not warped. There are some nibbles to the edge of the hood door and to the side panel at the front but again this is not problematic. The rear of the hood side panel has a loose slither of timber but we have piece. The main trunk door is not significantly warped and locks as it should. There are some veneer stress fractures as one would expect but no real issues with the door. The sides of the trunk are in good order. The base is in generally good condition also. The base panel is slightly sprung at the bottom left hand corner. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The height excluding the central finial is 230 cm.
Lot 1272
A pair of 1930's oak four tier sectional bookcases, with bobbin mouldings each tier with a pair of doors. 141 cm high, 89 cm wide, 32 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: Both bookcases are in generally good condition with no significant issues. They do not appear to have had any repairs or restoration. The colour is uniform. There is no cracked glass and no significant cracks or damage to the oak. There are the usual small and minor scuffs and scratches that one would expect from items of this age but no real problems. The doors snap shut with a sprung loaded ball bearing. This is on the right hand door to each of the bookcases. Two of the ball bearings are missing as is one spring. This is only a minor defect but worth pointing out. All other doors snap shut as they should.
Lot 1305
A George III chinoiserie lacquered longcase clock, with two train striking movement by John Page Ipswich, the painted case with long trunk door, the base raised on bracket feet. Height 208 cm, width 47.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. It strikes when advanced. It appears to be ticking away as it should. The date does not appear to be advancing. The case is in generally good condition. The doors are not warped. There are some minor nibbles and losses to the paintwork and gesso particularly on the front right hand hood pillar. As you will see from our image there is some lifting to the lacquer on the trunk door and some small areas of missing paint, evidenced by the blue ground beneath. There are no splits to the trunk. The base has all of the usual typical scuffs and marks one would expect form an item of this age.
Lot 1311
A Regency mahogany secretaire chest of drawers, with moulded edge above a fitted secretaire drawer with three further graduated drawers beneath all raised on bracket feet. Height 110 cm, width 108.5 cm, depth 54.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Whilst a good quality chest this does require work. There are losses to the veneers to the rear corners of the top and at the centre back. The same comments apply to the left-hand corner. The crossbanded moulded edge is completely missing on the right-hand side and there are losses to the front and left-hand return. The secretaire drawer has veneer losses to the centre beneath the lock escutcheon which is missing. The drawer front is otherwise in good order. The interior baize is very old and dirty. There is some damage to the fitted interior and a centre cupboard door is missing. The sides of the chest are in basically good condition with minor stress fractures. The three long drawers are in generally good order with minor losses to the cockbeading. The front bracket feet are original as are the rear. Both the right-hand front and rear feet are detached. There is some evidence of woodworm in the soft wood that forms the rear feet supports and other minor traces elsewhere on the bottom of the carcass.
Lot 1322
A George III mahogany longcase clock, with swans neck pediment above the arched brass dial and two train striking movement with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the case with long trunk door, quarter column corners and conforming base raised on bracket feet. Height 236 cm including finial. CONDITION REPORT: Whilst we have the pendulum and weights we have not attempted to have the movement running. The metal suspension at the top of the pendulum is missing. The movement is dirty but appears to be complete. The brass dial is a little warped from top to bottom and the spandrels are all a little loose but all present. The silvering is very tired and mostly missing. The hood is principally complete but some of the moulding between the swans necks is loose. There are some stress fractures to the veneers also. The hood door is not warped and closes as it should. The hood glass is cracked. There are some pieces of dentil work missing beneath the hood. The same comments apply to the blind fretwork around the frieze. The door is not warped. There is a small loss to the top left hand corner. The door is currently locked, we do not have the key. The sides of the case are in good condition. The plinth is also in generally good order. The plinth side panels have shrinkage gaps between the panels. The feet are all in good condition. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
Lot 1329
A George III oak dresser with Delft rack, with moulded cornice and shaped apron above a series of white painted shelves flanked by pilasters. The base fitted with a series of drawers and cupboards with brass handles and all raised on bracket feet. Height 206 cm, width 191 cm, depth 53 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dresser and rack are both in extremely good order. The cornice is in good condition all round. The dresser base top is in very good condition and of good colour. There are some old ring marks but no serious issues. The sides of the base are panelled and in very good condition. All drawer and door fronts are in good order. The handles if not original go through the original handle holes. The bracket feet are all original and in good order. The backboards are all original also. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. This dresser was purchased in our saleroom approximately 15 years ago for £3600.
Lot 1390
A Victorian walnut bedroom suite, comprising wardrobe, dressing table and washstand. Wardrobe 196 cm high, washstand 130 cm high, 102 cm wide, 44 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The bedroom suite is in generally good order. The cornice is slightly sprung at the front left joint. The wardrobe sides are in good condition with no issues. The door is not warped. The mirror is in good condition. The drawer runs fairly smoothly and again is in good order. The feet are original and in good condition also. The backboards are original. The washstand is in generally good condition. There are no significant issues. The dressing table requires a centre mirror but other than this is in good condition with only minor blemishes to the top surface. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
Lot 1435
A Victorian mahogany bedside cabinet, with single panelled door and raised on a plinth. Height 79 cm, width 40 cm, depth 38 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in good order. The top is flat with no splits and only minor blemishes. The sides are in good order, being well figured and again no splits. The door is in very good condition. The plinth base is in good order all round. The backboards are original. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
Lot 1442
A Victorian mahogany narrow bedside cabinet, with rounded corners panelled door and plinth base. Height 73 cm, width 33.5 cm, depth 36.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is structurally sound. The top Is in generally good order with only minor surface blemishes. The sides of the cabinet are not split. The door is in good order and closes as it should. The plinth base has some minor lower edge veneer nibbles but no serious issues. The backboards are original. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
Lot 1465
A large Victorian mahogany bookcase, in two sections with moulded cornice above a pair of sliding glazed doors with wooden astragals, the base fitted with panelled cupboard doors and all raised on a plinth. Height 261 cm, width 229 cm, depth 53 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The back of both the top and base is later plywood. The bookcase is a little dirty and dusty but does not have any significant structural problems. The cornice is in good condition all round. The sliding upper doors operate as they should. The runners appear to be later. There is no cracked glass. The right hand lock is present but we have no key. The sides of the top are in good order. The shelf below the upper section has numerous old marks and scratches as one would expect from lifting the top on and off. The side panels of the base are in generally good condition. The base doors are not warped and all close as they should. There are some surface scratches and marks particularly to the centre door. The handles are unlikely to be original but there are no extra handle holes. The plinth base is a little marked as one would expect. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
Lot 1507
A mahogany grandmother clock, with silvered brass arched dial with three train striking movement flanked by turned columns with long trunk door and base raised on ogee moulded bracket feet. Height 155 cm, width 29 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement does wind on all three trains. It appears to strike when advanced. The trunk door is currently locked and we do not have a key. We have therefore not had the clock ticking away as we cannot access the pendulum in order to set the clock going. The movement itself appears fairly clean and only a little dusty. The case is in generally good condition. The hood has some scuffs around the front edge of the arched pediment. The sides of the hood and trunk are very well figured and in good order. The trunk door is not warped. There is some slight scuffing to the polish on the right hand canted angle. The base is in generally good condition with only very minor marks around the feet.
Lot 1548
A George III stripped pine two tier corner cupboard with swan neck pediment, fitted four shaped shelves enclosed by two pairs of panelled doors. 220 cm high x 90 cm wide x 62 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The swans neck pediment left hand scroll moulding is detached as are both roundels. We have the pieces. The cornice is in good order all round. The canted angles to both upper and lower sections are in good condition. Both pairs of doors have no significant warping. Both locks are present, we have no keys. There are some minor traces of woodworm which in our opinion are not problematic. If you look on our image you will see the worst affected area to the left centre of the upper door below the top hinge. There are +/- 20 holes on that narrow hinge support panel. The cupboard is generally a little dirty and has all of the usual minor surface marks and scratches that one would expect.
Lot 493
A William IV silver case open face pocket watch, by John Brownbill of Liverpool. No. 463, the white enamelled dial with subsidiary seconds dial, movement with engraved back marked Patent, contained in plain case. 4.7 cm diameter, hallmarked for Chester 1836. CONDITION REPORT: The movement is fully wound and not currently ticking. The movement is however generally clean, there must be an issue with the main spring on the balance wheel. The dial is in generally very good order. There are no substantial cracks or scratches. There is some minor damage to the edge of the dial between where the numeral VI would be and the numeral VII. There are nibbles around the edge of the dial at this point, one small loss and a hairline. This is obscured by the door when closed. The case itself snaps shut as it should and is in generally good order. The watch glass has an edge chip by the numeral IV.
Lot 555
A 19th century Chinese hardwood cabinet in two sections, with foliate and scroll carved cornice above a series of shelves and pair of panelled cupboard doors beneath with brass drop handles and all raised on stile feet. Height 211 cm, width 98 cm, depth 37.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is structurally very sound. It is in generally extremely good condition. Some of the corner spandrels have minor nibbles and are a little loose, but there are no losses of any note that we can see. The side panels are all in good condition. There are no splits to the base. The doors are not warped but do not quite meet in the middle and at the top edge. There is some minor water splash damage to the right hand door. The base is in good order. The overall condition is very good.
Lot 789
Anna Katrina Zinkeisen (1901-1976), oil on canvas of a flapper. 60 cm x 37 cm, framed, signed and dated 1921. NOTE: Label verso Captain Riddick, Piccadilly. ARR (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The painting is on a very thin lightweight canvas. There is a rectangular patch on the rear of the canvas between the feet of the figure. It looks as if this is covering a small tear and there has been some overpainting at this point which is basically below the very bottom hem on the diaphanous dress. There is some paint loss and slight surface damage to the canvas to the right of the figure head which runs across to the black door frame. There are also other minor dings, small paint losses and blemishes to the canvas. The paint surface is suffering from some craquelure and slight desiccation. There does not appear to have been any significant overpainting other than to the damaged area previously mentioned. The gilt frame is in reasonable order. It is a little tired with some scuffs and marks to the extremities. We have no significant problems with the picture other than the label referred to in the description.
