Other veneer cracks, some lifting in areas and shrinkage cracks to sections of the moulding. Interior with later adjustable shelf fitments and single shelf. Some sun fading. Two keys, one for frieze drawer and other for doors. Hinges later and stamped W&P and neat veneer repairs corresponding to original hinge area.

AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY DENTIST'S CABINETThe marble top over thirty five various drawers and five cupboards, 140cm wide; 108cm highCondition report: The marble top with wear, scuffs and scratches, numerous chips along the edges. The back left corner with a large patch of discolouration. See additional photographs on www.bellmans.co.ukSome drawers obviously with later replacement handles. One drawer with handle missing. Some quite stiff, mahogany lined drawers. Numerous small chips, scuffs and wear overall. The cupboard doors below with loose hinges; one top hinge loose, one door with missing upright and tear, as if ripped from lock panel. No key. One door shut/locked. Top of doors are impressed with a serial number. Bracket feet with many losses and loose elements which have been recently supported on new blocks of timber and screwed together to support and stablise. Surfaces are worn, dirty, dusty and faded. Overall requires restoration and repair.
A 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY CHIFFONIER WITH PEN WORK DECORATIONWith later alterations, 90cm wide; 137cm highCondition report: Overall, wear to pen work - see additional images www.bellmans.co.ukSome scuffs, scratches and general light shrinkage in areas. Shrinkage split to the right side return. Missing moulded edge to the bottom left side return (see catalogue image). Slight warp to the right hand side door. One key in frieze drawer. Later handles. Later additions and adaptions, which were made some time ago. The tiered shelf is a little awkwardly constructed and secured over the penwork board. The reverse panels show previous fittings. The back edge of the top of the chest has also been adapted or changed at some point, with a different grained timber. Minor old worm holes to the backboards and back edge of chest.
A LATE 18TH CENTURY FRENCH CHESTNUT ARCH TOP TWO DOOR ARMOIREOn scroll feet, 170cm wideCondition report: The doors are secured by slotting into the matching corresponding tenon and dowel hinges. The doors sit together as illustrated on line in the photographs.The parts are secured with pegs, a number of pegs are attached with the lot. The backboards and all elements are presently all separate. Overall the exterior show timber is in relatively good condition with scuffs, marks, scratches, wear and general patina commensurate with age and use. Some shrinkage as to be expected. Some of the soft wood boards with signs of old worm.
A PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY SINGLE DOOR PEDESTALSOn plinth bases, 46cm wide; 85cm high (2)Condition report: These pedestal cupboards are made from 19th century parts with some later elements, including backboards, later locks and other elements to secure parts. A few old chips and wear to veneers commensurate with use and age of veneers and parts adapted.Functional, with one cupboard enclosing a sliding drawer. Otherwise minor scuffs, marks and signs of wear commensurate with age and use.
GILLOWS, LANCASTERA satinwood pedestal desk with six drawers and a faux drawer cupboard door about the knee, stamped to the frieze drawer, 122cm wide; 82cm highCondition report: Good overall condition. Inevitable scuffs, scratches, knocks and abrasions to areas exposed to wear and use, such as the top and bottom edges and knee hole sides. The top with a few deeper scratches and marks, and some wear to the very edge. See additional photographs on www.bellmans.co.ukMinor shrinkage to veneers in some areas. Repaired break to a bun handle, bottom left side. At some point polishedTwo keys, one works for the door but second key doesn’t turn in the drawers. Gillows’ joiner’s pencil signature to the underside of the top left and right frieze drawers. There is no apparent or obvious signs of wood worm. It has not been possible to turn this piece over to examine the underside, it is on castors and the back is in good condition. Please see additional images of the back, top and reverse. The piece is Victorian, possibly circa 1850/60.The locks are stamped LANGBEBEAR BIRM on the drawers and the cupboard door is PATENT xxx 4LEVERS with royal-coat of arms.
